Abstract

This study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach to examine the integration of Blue Economy, local wisdom, and Islamic economics as the foundation for sustainable marine development in Indonesia. The SLR method is conducted through a structured process of identifying, screening, and synthesizing relevant peer-reviewed journal articles, policy documents, and empirical studies from reputable academic databases such as Scopus, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, and Google Scholar using predefined keywords and inclusion criteria. The selected literature is analyzed using thematic synthesis to identify conceptual linkages between ecological sustainability, socio-cultural resilience, and Islamic ethical principles. This method enables the study to generate a comprehensive conceptual framework demonstrating that local wisdom serves as an adaptive ecological governance system, while Islamic values such as khalīfah, ‘adl, maṣlaḥah, and mīzān provide a normative foundation for justice and environmental stewardship. Furthermore, the review highlights the strategic role of Islamic financial instruments such as Blue Sukuk and productive waqf in funding sustainable marine projects, indicating that the synergy between Blue Economy, local wisdom, and Islamic economics can support a contextual and inclusive maritime development model for Indonesia.

Abstract

This study explores the internalization of ukhuwah (brotherhood) values in enhancing the competitiveness and social harmony of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) within the Tenggerese community in Probolinggo Regency. The values of ukhuwah Islamiyah, wathaniyah, and insaniyah serve as the moral, spiritual, and social foundations that guide entrepreneurial behavior in navigating modern economic challenges. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, the research collected data through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The findings indicate that the internalization of ukhuwah manifests in three key dimensions: entrepreneurial spirituality, social solidarity, and economic collaboration. MSME actors demonstrate honesty, trust, and mutual cooperation as a distinctive work ethos that strengthens business networks and promotes social cohesion amid market competition. The study concludes that ukhuwah functions not only as a religious doctrine but also as a strategic socio-economic framework rooted in local wisdom and universal human values, contributing to sustainable business development and community resilience.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of a local economic model based on maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah in sustainable agriculture at Twelve’s Organic Pacet, focusing on community empowerment and environmental preservation. The model integrates spiritual, social, and ecological values through organic farming practices that emphasize not only economic benefits but also ḥifẓ al-bi’ah (environmental protection) and maṣlaḥah (collective well-being). The research adopts a qualitative approach using field observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation analysis. The findings reveal that the application of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah principles is reflected in the adoption of fair-trade mechanisms, organic production processes, and participatory farmer training. However, challenges persist, such as limited literacy of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah among local farmers, insufficient institutional collaboration, and lack of supportive public policy. Nevertheless, the growing global awareness of halal, sustainability, and social justice presents significant opportunities for developing Sharia-based agriculture. Theoretically, this research contributes to the development of Islamic economic thought by integrating maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah into sustainable agriculture. Practically, it offers an alternative model for policymakers to promote pesantren-based green economy initiatives and enriches the academic discourse on Islamic ecological economics.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the practice of multi-religious tolerance in Kolong Village, Ngasem-Bojonegoro, and its relevance to the concept of religious moderation in facing the challenges of the Society 5.0 era. The research method is qualitative with a case study approach, through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study are: (1) the local wisdom of Kolong Village functions as a medium for internalizing the value of tolerance from an early age, (2) the practice of tolerance is in line with the principle of religious moderation in Islamic science, namely rejecting extreme attitudes and prioritizing balance, and (3) the harmony model in Kolong Village has the potential to be revitalized to answer the challenges of globalization, digitalization, and social disruption in the Society 5.0 era. Thus, local wisdom functions to maintain social harmony while also being a reference for global peace based on Islamic values rahmatan lil-‘alamin. This study contributes to developing a model of community-based religious moderation rooted in local wisdom to face the challenges of digital civilization.

Abstract

This study is a comparative literature review of two monumental works titled Adabul ‘Ālim wal Muta‘allim, authored respectively by Imam Nawawi and KH. Hasyim Asy’ari. Both texts encapsulate a rich legacy of scholarly ethics and the spiritual foundations of Islamic education, particularly in shaping students and educators of noble character, deep love for knowledge, and a strong commitment to tolerance and humanity. Employing a philosophical approach to Islamic education and content analysis, this research aims to explore the convergence and distinctions between Imam Nawawi—representing global Islamic scholarship—and KH. Hasyim Asy’ari—embodying local wisdom from the Indonesian pesantren tradition. The findings reveal that despite differing socio-historical contexts, both scholars share a unified vision of education that elevates adab (ethics) as a prerequisite for knowledge, love as the basis for learning, and tolerance as the path toward harmony. This study highlights that integrating global scholarly heritage with local wisdom offers a powerful paradigm for developing a humanistic Islamic education that contributes to global peace and inter-civilizational dialogue.

Abstract

Generation Z, as digital natives, are highly exposed to the dynamics of social media, which can shape both positive and negative attitudes, particularly regarding religious tolerance. This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic education in instilling the value of tolerance among Generation Z by utilizing social media as a medium for non-formal learning. The method used is library research with a descriptive-analytical approach, examining relevant academic literature such as journals, books, and reports. The findings indicate that tolerance values derived from the Qur’an and Hadith can be integrated into Islamic education in ways that resonate with the digital lifestyle of Generation Z. Furthermore, Islamic education, through formal, non-formal, and social media-based approaches, is effective in cultivating tolerant, moderate, and inclusive attitudes among the younger generation. This study emphasizes that social media should not only be viewed as a challenge but also as a potential platform for nurturing tolerance and global harmony.

Abstract

This study examines multiculturalism and socio-cultural harmonization in the religious life of Kampung Pancasila, Patoman Village, Banyuwangi. The research aims to analyze how local wisdom fosters tolerance and harmony among diverse religious communities, including Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, combining field observation, interviews with local leaders and residents, and document analysis. The findings reveal that social harmony in Patoman is deeply rooted in cultural traditions and the community’s historical identity as a “meeting place” (patoman). The implementation of Pancasila values plays a crucial role in guiding social interaction, preventing conflict, and maintaining peaceful coexistence. Harmonization is also expressed through cultural arts such as Gandrung dance, Balinese music, and religious practices that coexist without tension. This study concludes that Patoman Village represents a living model of multiculturalism and tolerance, offering significant lessons for promoting social cohesion and sustaining Indonesia’s unity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of child-friendly Islamic education based on religious moderation at MAN 2 Pamekasan, focusing on learning strategies, the integration of local wisdom, and the reinforcement of love and tolerance values. Employing a qualitative case study with an ethnographic orientation, the researcher collected data through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, document analysis, and focus group discussions (FGD). The ethnographic lens allowed the researcher to capture the cultural nuances, lived experiences, and symbolic practices that shape the madrasah’s educational environment. Findings indicate that MAN 2 Pamekasan successfully creates a safe, inclusive, and participatory learning climate by combining teacher role modeling, religious habituation, and the integration of Madurese local wisdom, particularly the buppa’-babu’-guruh-rato philosophy. These values are embedded into the curriculum, which emphasizes active student participation in dialogue, reflective learning, and collective practices, resulting in the internalization of moderation, love, and tolerance in everyday life. The findings resonate with classical theories of al-Ghazali on adab and Ibn Khaldun on social solidarity, modern theories of Piaget and Vygotsky on cognitive and social interaction, and contemporary frameworks (2023–2025) on child-friendly learning and the Islamic pedagogy of care. This study contributes theoretically to the discourse on Islamic education based on moderation and practically to the prevention of radicalism and intolerance, positioning MAN 2 Pamekasan as a replicable model of ethnographically grounded, child-friendly Islamic education.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of local wisdom and Islamic psychology in nurturing love and tolerance at Sunan Drajat Islamic Boarding School, Lamongan, Indonesia. The research aims to analyze how Sunan Drajat’s noble values are applied in the pesantren context to shape students’ character. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. Despite extensive research on Islamic education and tolerance, few studies have explored how local wisdom traditions within pesantren function as a framework for Islamic psychology and character formation. This study fills that gap by showing how Sunan Drajat’s teachings are internalized through tazkiyatun nafs (purification of the soul), qalb salim (sound heart), and ihsan (spiritual excellence), fostering compassion and tolerance among students. The novelty of this study lies in its integration of Islamic psychological theory with indigenous pedagogical practices, positioning pesantren as a living laboratory for spiritual and social development. The findings reveal that this model strengthens psychological well-being, promotes inclusive spirituality, and contributes to global harmony through education grounded in local wisdom.

Abstract

This study explores the Wirid Lathif tradition at the Tahfidhul Qur’an Islamic Boarding School in Paciran as a form of spiritual pedagogy that shapes students’ gentleness (lathifah), love (mahabbah), and tolerance (tasamuh). Using a phenomenological qualitative approach, data were collected through observations, interviews with kiai, ustadz, and students, as well as documentation of wirid activities. The findings reveal that Wirid Lathif functions as an “inner madrasah” that educates the heart and complements intellectual learning. The repetitive and collective wirid practice cultivates spiritual calm, empathy, and humility, fostering affective transformation through daily habituation. Students experience increased patience, emotional control, and social harmony, showing that spiritual training effectively instills moral values without explicit instruction. Moreover, Wirid Lathif acts as a hidden curriculum promoting religious moderation by nurturing soft-heartedness and reflective religiosity. The study concludes that Wirid Lathif represents a model of Sufistic character education integrating spiritual, moral, and social dimensions and also relevant for developing compassionate and tolerant individuals in the context of contemporary Islamic education.
