Abstract

The market in Hanura Village faces serious problems related to rubbish, especially because it is located close to the main beach tourist route which is busy during holidays. Increased activity in markets produces more waste, which is usually simply transferred to landfill, but this method is less effective. Plastic waste is the second biggest problem after organic waste and is difficult to decompose naturally, so other solutions are needed to reduce waste accumulation. To tackle this issue, the Unila community service team proposes a more efficient plastic waste management system. Drawing from Bahri et al., (2019), their research demonstrates that plastic waste can be converted into alternative fuel through a pyrolysis process, utilizing a device known as a pyrolizers. With an abundant supply of plastic waste and Hanura Village’s strategic location, the development and application of this process are being implemented through a community service program based on research dissemination. The result of this activity is a plastic waste processing tool that converts waste into alternative fuel in the form of a pyrolyzer with three condensers. The fuel produced from the pyrolysis of plastic waste is characterized by its chromatogram profile using Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GCMS), and its calorific value is measured using a bomb calorimeter, while the octane number is determined using an Octane Number Tester.  The results of the community service activity in Hanura Village cognitively show that the residents of Hanura Village were highly enthusiastic about receiving the training, especially related to the processing of plastic waste into fuel, with an overall achievement of specific instructional objectives reaching 53%.

Abstract

Majene Regency is known for its horticultural production potential. Based on the West Sulawesi Central Statistics Agency (BPS), one of them is banana production which is ranked second in West Sulawesi Province. Majene Regency also has potential in the livestock sector, one of which is free-range chicken farming. Based on the Majene Regency Central Statistics Agency, during the last three years from 2021 to 2023, free-range chicken farming in Majene Regency has continued to increase. Based on the observation results of the proposing team, financial management carried out by the partner group is still very poor. The results of further observations found a lack of innovation and creativity from the Galagatra Livestock Farming Group causing the potential of existing resources not to be utilized optimally. One of the neglected horticultural potentials is banana stem waste which is only used by the Galagatra Group as ruminant animal feed. Banana stem waste should be able to be processed into several products that can provide benefits to the Galagatra Livestock Farmers Group, one of which is reducing animal feed production costs and agricultural production costs. It is known that banana stems can be processed into animal feed and fertilizer which has its own selling value and appeal. The objectives of this community partnership program (PKM) activity are 1) Increase partner members' financial management knowledge. 2) Manage banana stem waste. 3) Changing marketing strategy patterns from traditional to digital. The output targets to be achieved are publication in the SINTA 4 indexed journal, publication of service activities in electronic mass media, video documentation via YouTube channel, and posters containing PKM activities and achievements.

Abstract

Afulu Village, located in Afulu Sub-district, North Nias Regency, has three interconnected ecosystems: coral reef ecosystem, seagrass ecosystem, and mangrove ecosystem. One of the main problems that occurs in Afulu Village is the damage to the coral reef ecosystem due to destructive activities such as the use of bombs, potassium, and poison by irresponsible people. This damage has caused the fishing grounds to become more distant, resulting in a decline in fishermen's catches from year to year. In addition, earthquakes and sedimentation events also have the potential to have a negative impact on coastal ecosystems such as coral reef ecosystems and mangrove ecosystems. These problems are exacerbated by the lack of community knowledge about coastal area management. To overcome these problems, this service activity aims to provide solutions to increase fishermen's catches through coral reef conservation management efforts. One of the innovations applied is the Science and Technology-based Coral Reef Transplantation Model Fish Apartment. The implementation method includes socialization, training and application of science and technology innovation of coral reef transplantation model fish apartment, as well as mentoring and evaluation. The main target of this activity is the Aman Setia Joint Business Group (KUB), which consists of fishermen groups in Afulu Village, Afulu District, North Nias Regency. It is expected that with the implementation of this activity, fishermen can maximize catches, increase daily income, and be able to disseminate information on science and technology innovations in coral reef transplantation model fish apartments to the people of Afulu Village. This is expected to support the recovery of ecosystem habitats independently and sustainably.

Abstract

The problems that exist in MSMEs in Pule Village based on an initial survey stated that less than 5% of MSME actors utilize information systems and there are approximately 4% of MSME actors who document their financial management. 92% of MSME actors in Pule Village are lay people who do not come from an Economic Education background so that their ability in financial literacy and managerial management skills are very minimal. So far, MSME managers have only focused on the sale of the products produced without calculating the estimated expected profit. This is a challenge for Accounting Academics to provide insight and training on information technology-based financial management so that the existence of MSMEs can achieve maximum goals. It is hoped that MSMEs in Pule Village will be able to become independent and rapidly developing MSMEs through additional working capital and skills in preparing good financial reports and being able to utilize information technology as a means of supporting activities. This service is carried out using the Community Development method, namely an approach that is oriented towards developing community empowerment by making the community the subject, object of development, and direct involvement in various service activities that will be carried out. The results of this service have a positive and significant impact. The increase in partners' accounting literacy has increased and the ability to prepare financial reports has increased by 80%. It is hoped that this service can become a community service that is continued, meaning that there is monitoring and assistance for partners to continuously implement the results of technology and innovation provided in community service activities.
