Abstract

Academic stress is a significant issue among university students, especially those involved in organizational activities due to the dual burden of academic and organizational responsibilities. This study highlights the importance of academic resilience as an adaptive capability to cope with academic stress. Using a quantitative correlational approach, data were gathered through questionnaires distributed to 65 students of the Guidance and Counseling Study Program at Universitas Sriwijaya, selected using proportional stratified random sampling. The results of the Pearson correlation analysis revealed a significant negative relationship between academic resilience and academic stress. Students with higher resilience tend to experience lower levels of academic stress. These findings underline the crucial role of resilience-building in maintaining students’ mental health and academic success under dual pressures.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the fact that students are unaware of their potential in terms of further study options. The objectives of this study are: 1) to identify the factors that influence students in making decisions about further study options from internal factors, 2) from external factors that influence students in making decisions about further study options. The type of research used is a quantitative descriptive method. The study population consists of 320 students. The sample was selected using simple random sampling, resulting in 92 respondents. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire with interval data analysis. Based on the research results, it was found that 1) Internal factors influencing students in making decisions about further education are numerous, including intelligence, knowledge, special talents, interests, and life values. 2) External factors influencing students in making decisions about further education are numerous, including family socioeconomic status, education, community, peers, and extended family influence. Based on the research findings, it is recommended that guidance counselors develop comprehensive and responsive counseling services tailored to students' needs. Guidance counselors should provide structured information about educational pathways and career prospects, as well as implement career counseling services based on interests and talents.

Abstract

This study discusses the role of parents in reducing gadget use among children aged 3–6 years in Kombong Village, Bua District. The phenomenon of increasing gadget use among young children raises concerns about negative impacts on physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach to explore the experiences and views of parents. The research subjects were seven parents selected through purposive sampling, with the criterion of having children aged 3–6 years who use gadgets. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that parents play a role through direct supervision, regulating usage duration, and monitoring the content accessed by children. The strategies employed include encouraging children to play with peers, providing educational games, gardening, reading books, drawing, and engaging in outdoor activities. This approach effectively diverts children's attention from gadgets, enhances social skills, and reduces the risk of addiction. These findings underscore the importance of active parental involvement in maintaining a balance between technology use and children's development.

Abstract

Bullying in schools remains a troubling global issue. Data from various national and international institutions shows that many students experience or witness bullying. Given the high number of bullying cases in schools, how can implementing anti-bullying education based on assertive communication reduce bullying and increase a sense of security in the school environment? Bullying can be prosecuted under several existing laws, both criminal and civil, as well as more specific regulations in the educational environment. Bullying violates Articles 310 and 311 of the Criminal Code concerning defamation and slander, which are often relevant to cases of verbal bullying or the spreading of rumors. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method to gain an in-depth understanding of the effectiveness of the education program. Assertive communication is believed to be key to empowering students to defend themselves without violence, reject bullying behavior, and report incidents effectively.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implications of gadget use on the social behavior of adolescents in Bone Tua Village, Masamba District, North Luwu Regency. This research uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The research informants consisted of 5 people with adolescent criteria who used gadgets and indications of social behavior, so that the technique used in determining informants was the purposive sampling technique. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed by data reduction steps, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The validity of the data is strengthened through source triangulation, triangulation techniques, and member checking. The results of the study show that the use of gadgets has two sides of influence. On the one hand, gadgets facilitate communication, provide access to knowledge, and encourage creativity and digital skills of teenagers. On the other hand, uncontrolled use of gadgets has a negative impact on reduced face-to-face interaction, weakened empathy, the emergence of individualistic behavior, a tendency for social isolation, and dependence on cyberspace, Thus, based on the results of data analysis obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation, it can be concluded that the use of gadgets has a significant influence on the formation of adolescent social behavior. The findings of the study show that gadgets have a positive impact, such as ease of communication and obtaining information, but also have a negative impact in the form of reduced direct social interaction, decreased empathy, and a tendency to social isolation if their use is not controlled. Therefore, the role of parents, teachers, and the social environment is indispensable in providing supervision, mentoring, and education so that the use of gadgets can be directed wisely, balanced, and still beneficial for the social development of adolescents.

Abstract

Emotional problems among students can significantly hinder their social and academic growth, emphasizing the need to foster emotional intelligence during adolescence. This study investigates the low ability of students to recognize and regulate emotions, which affects their adjustment at school. A quantitative approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design was employed. The population included 329 eleventh-grade students at MA Negeri 2 Samarinda, with a purposive sample of six students identified as having low emotional intelligence. Data were collected using The Schutte Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test (SSEIT) and analyzed through normality and paired sample t-tests. The average pretest score was 37.33, which increased to 71.00 after the group counseling intervention, showing an improvement of 33.67 points. These findings indicate that group counseling services significantly enhance emotional intelligence among eleventh-grade students, helping them better understand, manage, and express their emotions constructively.

Abstract

The development of modern counseling theory demonstrates the need for an integrative approach that unites psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions in the formation of a healthy personality. This study aims to formulate a conceptual model of Islamic Integrative Adlerian Counseling, a theoretical framework that combines Alfred Adler’s principles of Individual Psychology with Islamic spirituality. The research employs a qualitative approach using a library research design, through systematic analysis of national and international scholarly sources. The findings indicate that core Adlerian values such as social interest, goal orientation, and the creative self have epistemological compatibility with Islamic teachings, particularly the concepts of tazkiyah al-nafs (purification of the self), ihsan (excellence in conduct), and ukhuwah insaniyah (human brotherhood). The integration of these elements produces a holistic counseling model oriented toward spiritual and social balance, utilizing techniques such as encouragement, muhasabah (self-reflection), and reflection on life’s meaning. Theoretically, this model enriches interdisciplinary studies between Western psychology and Islamic scholarship, while practically, it holds potential as an alternative contextual counseling approach for educational institutions and Muslim communities. These findings affirm the urgency of developing an integrative counseling paradigm aligned with divine and human values in fostering healthy personality development in the modern era.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between academic procrastination and self-regulated learning among students of SMP X. The research employed a quantitative approach using a correlational method. The sample consisted of 205 eighth-grade students of SMP X selected through a saturated sampling technique. The research instruments included an academic procrastination scale and a self-regulated learning scale. The procrastination scale covered four indicators: delaying the initiation or completion of tasks, believing that postponement is preferable, repetitive procrastination behavior, and difficulty in making decisions. The self-regulated learning scale comprised indicators of goal setting and planning, seeking information, keeping records and monitoring, and environmental structuring. The normality test indicated that the data were normally distributed (p = 0.126). Pearson correlation analysis revealed a significant negative relationship (r = –0.561, p = 0.000), indicating that higher levels of self-regulated learning are associated with lower levels of academic procrastination. These findings highlight the important role of self-regulation in minimizing academic delay. This study provides a basis for educators and counselors to develop more targeted interventions and may serve as a reference for future academic support programs in schools.
