Abstract

The issue of Qur'anic illiteracy remains a significant educational and religious challenge in Indonesia, particularly among elementary school students. Despite the integration of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) into the national curriculum, the inability of many students to read the Qur'an properly highlights a systemic failure that demands urgent attention. This study aims to explore the pivotal role of IRE teachers in Qur'an literacy and examine the underlying causes of its persistent failure at the primary education level. Employing a library research approach with content analysis as the main method, this research synthesizes various scholarly sources and policy documents. The findings reveal that IRE teachers play a central role in shaping students' ability to read the Qur'an. However, they face multiple constraints, including limited instructional time allocated to Qur'an learning and the lack of pedagogical training in selecting developmentally appropriate methods for young learners. Moreover, the absence of structured collaboration between families, schools, and communities exacerbates the problem. The study concludes that addressing Qur'an illiteracy requires a holistic strategy that empowers teachers through professional development, extends learning time, and strengthens institutional synergy across educational and social environments.

Abstract

The concept of eco-pesantren, or environment-based Islamic education management, is an innovative educational model that integrates Islamic values with environmental sustainability principles within Islamic boarding schools. This study aims to analyze the challenges and strategic approaches to implementing eco-pesantren in a holistic and sustainable manner. Despite its relevance, the implementation of eco-pesantren faces various obstacles, such as low environmental awareness, limited institutional resources, and entrenched habits that are not eco-friendly. Using a qualitative-descriptive method, this research explores the integration of environmental values into curriculum development, institutional culture, facility management, and daily practices. The study also emphasizes the role of Islamic theological foundations, leadership, and community engagement in supporting eco-pesantren initiatives. Findings reveal that effective implementation requires consistent environmental education, curriculum integration, role-modeling by educators, and partnerships with external stakeholders. Ultimately, this study contributes to the discourse on sustainable Islamic education and proposes eco-pesantren as a strategic model for nurturing environmentally conscious, spiritually grounded, and socially responsible generations.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of active learning methods based on educational games in increasing the learning interest of second-grade students at SDN 28 Melayu Kota Bima. The background of this study stems from the low learning motivation of students caused by the use of monotonous and less interactive learning strategies. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design, utilizing data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that educational games can create a fun and engaging learning environment, increase student active participation, and foster positive interaction between teachers and students. Activities such as interactive quizzes, card games, and group work help students become more focused and enthusiastic in their learning. This approach is also tailored to students' diverse learning styles and needs, thereby creating a more inclusive learning process. Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the bilingual flagship program at SD IT Brilliant School Bukittinggi. The bilingual program was adopted as a strategy to enhance students’ foreign language proficiency from an early age. A responsive qualitative approach was employed, utilizing observation, interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and document analysis for data collection. The findings reveal that the program has a positive impact on language skill acquisition, particularly in speaking and listening. Teachers adopted active learning methods such as storytelling and role-play. However, inconsistencies in implementation across subjects were observed. Overall, both students and parents responded positively to the program, although challenges such as language anxiety and limited teaching materials were identified. The study concludes that while the bilingual program is fairly effective, improvements are still needed. These include enhanced teacher training, strengthened bilingual curriculum, and greater parental involvement. Periodic program evaluations are recommended to ensure the program’s sustainability and quality improvement.

Abstract

One of the crucial issues in education is the need to integrate character values into the learning process. This requires the optimization of curriculum management as a strategic instrument for shaping a school culture rooted in values. The curriculum functions not merely as a formal administrative document but as a value-based framework that guides the overall direction of education. This study aims to describe the role of curriculum management in integrating character values, particularly within the context of Islamic educational institutions at the elementary level. The method used is a literature review with a qualitative approach. The findings indicate that effective curriculum management facilitates collaboration among teachers, principals, and stakeholders in designing learning strategies that embed values such as responsibility, honesty, discipline, and cooperation. The success of value integration strongly depends on the alignment between curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation. Furthermore, strengthening school culture through value-driven vision and mission, as well as professional teacher development, serves as a key supporting factor. Therefore, curriculum management plays a central role in ensuring that learning is not only academically oriented but also transformative in shaping students' character.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of deep learning approaches in Arabic language learning and identify the challenges faced by teachers in madrasahs. This study uses a qualitative approach with Arabic teachers at MTsN 1 Kota Bima as the research subjects. Data collection techniques include observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the data analysis show that the application of deep learning in madrasahs is carried out through several strategies, including: institutional commitment in the formulation of regulations and the provision of supporting infrastructure, integration of the approach with the Merdeka Curriculum, implementation of meaningful and enjoyable learning, and contextualization of material relevant to students' lives. In addition, collaboration between teachers and students is also key to creating a deep learning process. However, the implementation of this approach is not without challenges, such as teachers' limited understanding of deep learning concepts due to a lack of training, students' heterogeneous backgrounds, and limited time and learning environments that do not support active Arabic language practice. These findings recommend the importance of intensive training for teachers and madrasah policy support in creating a transformative and sustainable learning ecosystem.
