Abstract

Teaching vocabulary to children must be engaging and fun to spark their interest and motivate them to learn English, particularly to memorize English vocabulary. To establish pleasurable learning for children, the teacher must discover creative methods and media to encourage students to learn English vocabulary. This study aims to find out the implementation of the TPR method with the help of flashcards to teach English vocabulary at Kindergarten Muslimat NU TA 07 Plantaran and to describe how the TPR method with the help of flashcards can encourage kindergarten students at Muslimat NU TA 07 Plantaran to learn the English vocabulary. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method. Non-participant observation and interviews are conducted as the data collection techniques. The findings show that teaching using the TPR method with the help of flashcards is implemented in three steps: pre-teaching, whilst-teaching, and post-teaching. In teaching and learning, the teacher acts as a model and gives orders while students respond and imitate them with physical movements. Implementation of TPR with the help of flashcards can encourage students' motivation to learn English vocabulary. This can be seen from the behavior of motivated students during learning, including being active, responsive, interested, enthusiastic, responsible, and diligent.

Abstract

Syntax is a branch of linguistics that explains sentence structure. This study aims to discover what types of sentences are used in motivational quotes, which frequently emerge in motivational quotes, and describe sentence structure utilizing a tree diagram. This research employs the descriptive qualitative technique. The study involved multiple processes in data collection, including; reading the novel's text, choosing sentences of motivational quotes contained in the novel Atomic Habits, and writing down all the sentences of motivational quotes selected for analysis. The data were analyzed using Noam Chomsky’s theory “Transformational Generative Grammar”. The result of the study shows that the motivational quotes from the novel Atomic Habits have all types of sentences. In addition, the researcher also found the types of sentences that frequently emerge in motivational quotes from the novel, namely 22 simple sentences, 2 compound sentences, five complex sentences, and one compound-complex sentence. So, the dominant motivational quote is a simple sentence. This study has various types of sentences in motivational quotes that can be used to help English learners and improve writing skills in a text or essay according to grammatical rules.

Abstract

This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 204 Jakarta with research subjects, namely class VIII-B students. This study aimed to determine students' mathematical literacy skills based on Kolb's learning style. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, using instruments like questionnaires, test questions, and interview guides. Questionnaires are used to categorize Kolb's learning styles. At the same time, the mathematical literacy test was given as many as four description questions with Circle material and interview guidelines to find more in-depth information related to the mathematical literacy abilities possessed by the subjects in this study. Based on the research that has been done, students with diverging learning styles tend to use concrete experiences they have learned and are not afraid to try. Subjects with an assimilation learning style tend to emphasize theory, subjects with a convergent learning style look more active and have high self-confidence, and accommodation subjects tend to have concrete problem-solving experiences. Subjects with the Kolb learning style can show the process of mathematical literacy, which is suitable for the context of still common questions.

Abstract

The phenomenon related to this research is that until now, the learning media used by teachers is still very minimal. It can be seen from the broken focus that the internet network still needs improvement, and the time used to carry out supervision could be a lot higher because the principal has the task. For the most part, this is one of the inhibiting factors in the process of supervised learning in this school and will also affect the quality of learning, impacting student learning outcomes. This type of field research uses qualitative research methods or approaches. This study used the principal and several teachers who taught as respondents or resource persons. This study concludes that the implementation of learning supervision has been effective because learning supervision can be a benefit that directs, encourages, spurs, and surveys instructors in the utilization of learning. The strategy applied by the teacher to improve the quality of learning is that the teaching and learning process must start with planning learning activities, learning methods, media used, face-to-face, and class management, then observed and evaluated. The principle in providing services to teachers so that the learning process can run smoothly is good, where the principal assists teachers in planning, implementing, and assessing learning program activities and assisting teachers in preparing teaching and learning activities.

Abstract

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, it caused a very significant change in education. The learning was done online. So that makes the Indonesian student lose. The free curriculum also demands free study, as summarized in PROPELA. That's why research needs to be done to develop textbooks to support the study of the free curriculum matter, atomic structure phase E, and test the validity and practicality of this teaching material. This type of research is called Educational Design Research (EDR) with the Plomp model, which is: (1) preliminary research; (2) development or prototyping; and (3) assessment (not done). Research data from validation is insulated using Aiken's v formula, while registered data is analyzed in a present-day way. Based on the study's results, the teaching material has been valid, with an average score of 0.91. The use of the scripture is easy to understand and view, practical learning, and benefits of teaching, with an average score of 72%. This coursebook is valid and helpful through the formative tests that have been carried out. The final average value of 0.94 is proof of this validity. In addition, this coursebook is also equipped with mental model problems that are proven to help students solve existing problems. This is known from the responses of active and excellent students in solving these problems. In addition, the time spent working on the questions is also sufficient, so it only uses time outside of learning hours.
