Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the night study program as a best practice in curriculum development to improve elementary school students’ examination outcomes. The research was conducted at SD Negeri Sukomulyo, Ngaglik Subdistrict, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta, involving 25 sixth-grade students. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach using interviews as the primary data collection technique. The results indicate that the night study program contributes positively to improving students’ learning focus, understanding of subject materials, and overall examination performance. The program also strengthens collaboration between schools, teachers, parents, and the community in supporting student learning achievement. Therefore, the night study program can be considered an effective curriculum development best practice in elementary education.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the strategies used by principals in strengthening character education and school culture in elementary schools. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological research design to explore the strategies used by principals in strengthening character education and school culture. The research subjects consisted of 10 principals in Karangasem District, Karangasem Regency. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews. Data analysis used interactive data analysis methods, which included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the principal's strategies in strengthening character education and school culture were carried out through: (1) continuous reinforcement and reminders as a strategy to foster students' character awareness, (2) assigning responsibilities through guard duty activities as a strategy to foster cooperation, (3) collaboration with external parties in strengthening character education, (4) instilling the 5S (smile, greet, say hello, be polite, and be courteous) as part of the school culture, (5) strengthening school culture through extracurricular activities based on Balinese local wisdom, (6) regular prayer as a religious cultural practice at school, (7) strengthening school culture through coaching students in competitions based on Balinese local wisdom, and (8) the exemplary behavior of the principal and teachers as role models. These strategies have proven to be effective. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan strategi yang digunakan oleh kepala sekolah dalam memperkuat pendidikan karakter dan budaya sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan rancangan penelitian fenomenologi untuk menggali strategi kepala sekolah dalam memperkuat pendidikan karakter dan budaya sekolah. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 10 kepala sekolah yang berada di Kecamatan Karangasem, Kabupaten Karangasem. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui teknik wawancara. Analisis data menggunakan metode analisis data interaktif yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi kepala sekolah dalam memperkuat pendidikan karakter dan budaya sekolah dilakukan melalui: (1) penguatan dan pengingat berkelanjutan sebagai strategi menumbuhkan kesadasaran karakter peserta didik, (2) pemberian tanggung jawab melalui kegiatan piket sebagai strategi menumbuhkan kerja sama, (3) kolaborasi dengan pihak eksternal dalam penguatan pendidikan karakter, (4) penanaman budaya 5s (senyum, salam, sapa, sopan, dan santun) sebagai bagian dari budaya sekolah, (5) penguatan budaya sekolah melalui kegiatan ekstrakurikuler berkearifan lokal bali, (6) persembahyangan rutin sebagai praktik budaya religius di sekolah, (7) penguatan budaya sekolah melalui pembinaan peserta didik pada lomba berkearifan lokal Bali, dan (8) keteladanan kepala sekolah dan guru sebagai role model. Strategi tersebut terbukti dapat membentuk lingkungan sekolah yang kondusif dan mendukung penanaman nilai-nilai karakter pada peserta didik. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi terhadap pengembangan kepemimpinan kepala sekolah dalam memperkuat pendidikan karakter dan budaya sekolah di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) was motivated by the finding of a learning motivation crisis that resulted in low participation and passivity among 25 students of grade IV at SD Muhammadiyah 3 Kuala Beringin in learning the Indonesian Language. This condition hindered the development of students' reading, speaking, writing, and listening skills. This study aimed to improve students' learning motivation through the application of Reinforcement Techniques focused on a combination of specific verbal reinforcement and a token economy in the form of active stickers. The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting stages. Data collection was carried out exclusively using observation techniques through a learning motivation observation sheet. The success indicator was set at 75% of the total students reaching a minimum scale of "Good" in all observed aspects. The results showed that in Cycle I, the success rate of students' learning motivation only reached 44% (11 students). After reflection and optimization of actions in Cycle II, the success percentage jumped significantly to 84% (21 students). This improvement proves that providing verbal appreciation that highlights effort and visual rewards in the form of active stickers is effective in fostering students' self-confidence, enthusiasm, and proactive participation. Thus, the application of reinforcement techniques successfully transformed the classroom climate to be more dynamic and convincingly improved the motivation to learn the Indonesian Language among grade IV students.

Abstract

The recognition of indigenous law communities and their traditional rights over forests is a key indicator of democratization progress and human rights protection in Indonesia. Following the Constitutional Court Decision Number 35/PUU-X/2012, the state has opened space for indigenous peoples to gain legal rights over customary forests they have managed for generations. This article aims to analyze the process and implications of recognizing indigenous peoples' rights over the Ghimbe Peramunan Customary Forest, managed by the Puyang Sure Aek Bigha Indigenous Law Community in Penyandingan Village, Semendo Darat Laut District, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra. Using a qualitative method with a case study approach, this research finds that the recognition, initiated by the Muara Enim Regent's Decree Number 964 of 2018 and followed by the Minister of Environment and Forestry Decree Number SK.3758/MENLHK-PSKL/PKTHA/PSL.1/3/2019, is a significant achievement in the decentralization of natural resource management. This process was multi-stakeholder collaboration, including local government, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, and accompanying NGOs such as the Hutan Kita Institute (HaKI). However, this legal recognition is merely the entry point. The subsequent main challenges lie in strengthening the institutional capacity of the indigenous community, developing sustainable productive economies, and resolving post-determination administrative issues. The study concludes that the recognition of the Ghimbe Peramunan customary forest represents progress in the democratization of forest governance based on the recognition of human rights, although its sustainability requires consistent policy support and continuous assistance to ensure ecological and socio-economic benefits can be realized.

Abstract

The issue of waste remains an environmental challenge, including in elementary schools, which play a strategic role in building ecological awareness from an early age. This study aims to explore ecoliteracy of fifth-grade elementary school students in relation to the implementation of IPAS learning and waste management practices in the school environment. The study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with fifth-grade class student as subjects. Data collection was conducted through interviews, observations, and documentation to obtain a factual description of IPAS learning, student behavior, and the school's waste management curricula. The results show that IPAS learning related to the environment is still dominated by conventional approaches with limited practical activities, resulting in relatively low student involvement. The ecoliteracy of students is at a basic level, characterized by an understanding of the environment that has not been fully internalized in their daily behavior, particularly in the practice of waste sorting. The school waste management system also does not optimally support the development of ecoliteracy due to limited facilities and the absence of sustainable management of organic waste, including that generated by the Makan Bergizi Gratis Program. These findings emphasize that strengthening eco-literacy requires the integration of practice-based IPAS learning, the cultivation of environmentally conscious behavior, and the support of a sustainable school system and culture.

Abstract

Cargo change operations on tanker vessels carry a risk of contamination if the tank cleaning process is not performed optimally. The problem addressed in this study is the less-than-optimal implementation of cargo contamination prevention procedures during cargo change operations on board MT SAMUDERA BIRU 168. This study aims to analyze the level of implementation of tank cleaning procedures and identify factors and constraints that influence the effectiveness of its implementation. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method using a fishbone analysis approach. Data were obtained through direct observation, interviews with officers and crew members, and ship documentation. The analysis classified potential causes into several aspects, namely human resources, work methods, equipment, supervision systems, and working environment conditions. The results show that tank cleaning procedures were generally carried out according to the established stages, from stripping to final inspection before the tanks were declared dry and up to dry. However, the implementation was not fully optimal, as indicated by flushing duration not consistently reaching 30 minutes, uneven spraying in upper frame areas, and slight moisture detected during inspection. The influencing factors include human resources, operational time pressure, hot working conditions inside the tanks

Abstract

Coffee is one of the commodities that has experienced a significant increase in consumption among society, particularly among young people such as university students. This phenomenon is influenced not only by consumption needs but also by changes in lifestyle and academic activities among students. This study aims to analyze the demand and supply of coffee among students and the factors influencing them. The research method used in this study is a qualitative approach with a library research method by analyzing various literature sources such as scientific journals, books, and academic publications relevant to the research topic. The results show that the demand for coffee among students is influenced by several main factors, including coffee prices, the need to increase concentration in academic activities, social environmental influences, and changes in student lifestyles. Meanwhile, the increasing demand for coffee has encouraged an increase in the supply of coffee products in various forms, such as instant coffee, packaged coffee, and coffee served in modern coffee shops around campus areas. The interaction between demand and supply indicates that coffee has become part of the consumption culture among students. Therefore, the analysis of coffee demand and supply among students demonstrates market dynamics influenced by economic, social, and lifestyle factors of the younger generation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of price changes on sales volume among grocery traders. Price changes are one of the important factors that can influence consumer purchasing decisions and the number of products sold in trading activities. This research uses a quantitative approach with a library research method. The data used are secondary data obtained from various literature sources such as scientific journals, reference books, and previous studies relevant to the research topic. Data collection techniques were carried out through documentation studies by reviewing various scientific articles obtained from the Google Scholar database. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques to identify and interpret the relationship between price changes and sales volume. The results of the study indicate that price changes have a significant effect on sales volume among grocery traders. Price increases tend to reduce consumers’ purchasing power, which results in a decrease in sales volume, while price reductions can increase consumer buying interest, which ultimately leads to higher sales volume. Therefore, grocery traders need to consider appropriate pricing strategies in order to maintain customers and increase sales volume amid market price fluctuations.

Abstract

The agricultural sector plays an important role in supporting the national economy and serves as a primary source of livelihood for most Indonesian communities, particularly micro-scale entrepreneurs. However, micro enterprises in the agricultural sector still face various challenges in managing production activities, especially in controlling production costs which significantly affect business efficiency. This study aims to analyze the implications of production cost theory on the efficiency of micro enterprises in the agricultural sector. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a literature study method by utilizing secondary data sources from national scientific journals, economics textbooks, and relevant research findings. The results indicate that production costs in agricultural micro enterprises are dominated by variable costs such as seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and labor. Inefficient management of production factors can lead to cost inefficiencies that ultimately reduce business efficiency. The application of production cost theory can help entrepreneurs identify cost structures, determine the most efficient combination of production inputs, and improve business productivity. Therefore, a proper understanding of production cost theory can serve as an essential basis for improving the efficiency of micro enterprises in the agricultural sector, thereby increasing entrepreneurs' income and supporting the sustainability of agricultural business activities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of discounts and promotions on purchasing decisions among young consumers. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library research method by reviewing various scientific literature such as books, academic journals, and previous studies relevant to the topic. The data used are secondary data obtained from academic sources discussing marketing strategies, consumer behavior, and purchasing decision factors. The results show that discounts positively influence purchasing decisions by increasing perceived value and attracting consumer attention through lower prices. Promotions also have a significant role as marketing communication tools that enhance consumer awareness and build brand image. Furthermore, the combination of discounts and promotions is more effective in increasing product attractiveness and encouraging purchasing decisions among young consumers. As digital consumers, young people are highly responsive to marketing strategies that offer economic benefits and engaging shopping experiences. Therefore, integrating discounts and promotions is an effective strategy to improve purchasing decisions.
