Abstract

Creativity is an important ability that needs to be developed from an early stage of elementary education. However, students' creativity in visual arts learning still requires attention, as some students experience difficulties in developing ideas and producing diverse works. This study aimed to describe the creativity of second-grade students at State Elementary School 188 Pekanbaru in creating collage artworks and to identify the factors influencing their creativity. The study employed a descriptive quantitative approach involving 20 second-grade students as research subjects. Data were collected through observation, performance assessment, documentation, and interviews. Students' creativity was measured based on four indicators: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The data were analyzed using mean scores, standard deviation, and creativity level categorization. The results showed that students' creativity improved in each collage learning session. The mean creativity score in the first meeting was 70.62 (moderate category), increased to 80.00 (moderate category) in the second meeting, and reached 84.06 (high category) in the third meeting. Improvements were observed across all creativity indicators, with elaboration showing the highest increase. Factors influencing students' creativity included internal factors such as interest, imagination, and self-confidence, as well as external factors including the teacher's role, learning methods, freedom of expression, and the use of varied materials and media. Therefore, collage-based learning was proven effective in developing elementary school students' creativity.

Abstract

The ability to understand texts is one of the essential skills needed in the Computer-Based Written Examination (UTBK), especially in the literacy and reasoning section. However, many participants still experience difficulties in understanding long texts within a limited amount of time. This study aims to identify the application of skimming and scanning strategies and their relationship with UTBK text comprehension. The research employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational design. Data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed to 21 respondents consisting of senior high school students and gap-year participants who had taken the 2026 UTBK. The research instrument used a Likert scale with 12 statement items covering aspects of skimming and scanning strategies, text comprehension, and perceptions of the influence of reading strategies. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques through mean calculations. The results showed that most respondents had applied skimming and scanning strategies in reading UTBK texts. These strategies were considered helpful in improving reading speed, identifying main ideas and specific information more easily, and increasing respondents’ confidence while answering questions. Nevertheless, some respondents still experienced difficulties in understanding texts due to the complexity of the passages, limited vocabulary, and time pressure. Overall, the findings indicate a positive relationship between the use of skimming and scanning strategies and the ability to comprehend UTBK texts. This study also

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of student cooperation in social studies learning on the material of socio-cultural diversity in Indonesia among fifth-grade elementary school students. Most students were still passive during group discussions, depended on the teacher, and showed low participation in collaborative learning activities. This research aimed to describe the implementation of the cooperative learning model of the jigsaw type in improving student cooperation in social studies learning. This study employed a qualitative research approach conducted at SDN 09 Saruaso involving 15 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the implementation of the jigsaw cooperative learning model was able to improve students’ cooperation skills. Students became more active in discussions, more confident in expressing opinions, more responsible in completing group tasks, and more willing to help their peers. The classroom atmosphere also became more active, communicative, and enjoyable during the learning process. Although several obstacles were found at the beginning of the implementation, such as students being confused with the learning steps and lacking confidence, these challenges could gradually be overcome through teacher guidance and group learning activities. Therefore, the jigsaw cooperative learning model can be used as an effective alternative learning model to improve students’ cooperation skills in social studies learning at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of da'wah management in the moral development of female mahasantri at Al-Lathifiyyah Islamic Boarding School, Palembang, and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of moral development, particularly regarding the supervision of the consistency of Qur’anic moral practices when the mahasantri are outside the boarding school environment. This research employed a qualitative approach using a field research design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving caregivers, female religious instructors (ustadzah), administrators, and female mahasantri of Al-Lathifiyyah Islamic Boarding School, Palembang. The findings reveal that the implementation of da'wah management in the moral development of female mahasantri has been carried out through management functions consisting of planning, organizing, implementing, and supervising. The planning stage was conducted through the formulation of moral development programs based on Qur’anic values and religious activities. Organizing was implemented through a clear distribution of responsibilities among caregivers, ustadzah, and boarding school administrators. The implementation of moral development was realized through the habituation of worship practices, religious studies, discipline enforcement, and exemplary role modeling in daily life. Supervision was carried out through monitoring daily activities, conducting periodic evaluations, and providing continuous guidance to the mahasantri. The supporting factors in moral development include the exemplary conduct of mentors, a conducive boarding school environment, regular religious activities, and a well-structured management system. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors include differences in the students’ backgrounds, external environmental influences, uncontrolled use of technology and social media, and limited supervision when the mahasantri are outside the boarding school environment. Nevertheless, these challenges are addressed through persuasive, communicative, and sustainable coaching approaches.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine and analyze the differences in teaching styles between male and female teachers at SDN 111 Pekanbaru and SDN 010 Seresam. The research employed a quantitative comparative approach. The participants consisted of 10 teachers selected through purposive sampling, including 5 male teachers and 5 female teachers. Data were collected using a questionnaire developed based on indicators of basic teaching skills, such as questioning skills, explaining, reinforcement, classroom management, and the use of learning variations. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Independent Sample t-test with the assistance of SPSS software. The descriptive analysis showed that the average teaching style score of male teachers was 66.6, while female teachers obtained an average score of 66.0. The results of the homogeneity test indicated a significance value of 0.112 (> 0.05), demonstrating that the data variance was homogeneous. Furthermore, the Independent Sample t-test produced a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.870 (> 0.05), indicating that there was no significant difference in teaching styles between male and female teachers. The findings suggest that gender is not the primary factor influencing teaching styles in elementary schools. Instead, teaching competence, professional experience, and pedagogical skills play a more substantial role in determining the quality of classroom instruction. Therefore, efforts to improve educational quality should focus on enhancing teachers’ professional competencies regardless of gender.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze various forms of Indonesian language errors found in scientific communication in physics. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method using a literature study approach. Data were collected from journals, scientific articles, and physics teaching materials discussing the use of Indonesian in academic writing. Data collection techniques included documentation and literature review, while data analysis was conducted through identifying, classifying, and describing the language errors found in the sources. The findings indicate that language errors are still frequently encountered in scientific communication in physics, particularly in spelling, capitalization, punctuation, word choice, and ineffective sentence structures. These errors may reduce the clarity of information, lower the quality of scientific writing, and lead to misunderstandings of physics concepts presented in the text. Furthermore, limited understanding of Indonesian language rules and inadequate editing processes were identified as factors contributing to language errors. Therefore, improving the proper use of Indonesian language according to linguistic standards is necessary to support effective, accurate, and comprehensible scientific communication in physics.
