Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (IRE) as one of the core subjects in Indonesia's national education system faces serious challenges in the contemporary era, both conceptually and implementatively. This paper aims to explore and analyze efforts to reconstruct the concept of IRE through philosophical and practical approaches, by examining the thoughts of several relevant Islamic education scholars. The method used is library research with a descriptive-analytical approach. The results show that the reconstruction of IRE needs to rest on three main pillars: first, the reorientation of educational goals from a normative-dogmatic approach toward a humanistic-dialogical one; second, the transformation of learning methodology from knowledge transmission to contextual understanding construction; and third, the revitalization of the role of IRE teachers as agents of moral as well as intellectual change. This reconstruction is a fundamental effort to restore the true spirit of Islamic education in forming people who are knowledgeable, have noble character, and are able to answer the challenges of the times.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the representation of injustice in judges’ utterances during the Four Pillars Quiz Competition of the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR RI). This study is motivated by a controversy over the assessment process in the competition, which revealed different treatment of participants’ answers that were substantively similar. This research employed a qualitative approach using Fairclough’s model of Critical Discourse Analysis. The data consisted of utterances by judges and competition officials appearing in a video of the Four Pillars Quiz Competition of MPR RI, particularly in the assessment of participants’ answers regarding the process of selecting members of the Audit Board of Indonesia. The data were collected through documentation, observation, note-taking, and transcription. The data were analyzed through three dimensions: textual analysis, discursive practice, and social practice. The findings show that the representation of injustice appears in four forms: evaluative, procedural, interactional, and symbolic injustice. Evaluative injustice is reflected in different assessments of answers with similar substantive meaning. Procedural injustice appears through limited opportunities for clarification and verification. Interactional injustice is evident in responses that direct participants to accept decisions without adequate explanation. Symbolic injustice is reflected in the affirmation of judges’ authority as the center of decision legitimacy. These findings indicate that judges’ utterances cannot be understood as neutral speech, but rather as discursive practices that construct power relations between assessors and participants. This study recommends the need for judges’ communication guidelines, transparent assessment rubrics, and evidence-based clarification mechanisms in academic competitions.

Abstract

Flexibility is an essential component of physical fitness for athletes, office workers, elderly individuals, and those with mobility limitations. With the rapid advancement of digital technology, various innovations including mobile applications, wearable devices, Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI), gamification, video-guided stretching, and tele-stretching platforms have emerged as alternatives or complements to conventional stretching exercises. This literature review aims to critically analyze the potential, effectiveness, advantages, and limitations of digital technologies in improving muscle flexibility and Range of Motion (ROM) across diverse populations. A systematic literature review methodology was applied to scientific articles published between 2018 and 2026, sourced from PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and DOAJ using structured keywords. Results indicate that digital stretching technologies effectively improve ROM by 12–22% compared to baseline, with higher exercise adherence than conventional methods in certain population groups. Nevertheless, limitations such as device costs, technology learning curves, and limited validation in elderly populations remain primary challenges. Future research is recommended to develop large-scale randomized clinical trials to consolidate existing scientific evidence.

Abstract

The implementation of Kartinian activities as an effort to instill the values of emancipation in students at SD Negeri 13 Palembang is understood not merely as a commemoration of Kartini Day, but as a means to introduce the values embodied in R.A. Kartini’s struggle, such as equality, courage, and independence. The research conducted by the author employed a qualitative descriptive method, utilizing data collection techniques such as observation and documentation. The research results indicate that the Kartinian activities, which were carried out through a traditional costume contest and poetry reading as part of a series of events, as well as a coloring contest and a quiz, were able to provide meaningful learning experiences for the students. These activities encouraged students to be more confident, brave enough to perform, work together, and respect one another regardless of gender; thus, the Kartinian activities were quite effective in instilling the values of women’s empowerment in elementary school.

Abstract

Teacher professional development is an essential effort to improve the quality of education in response to the challenges of globalization and digital transformation. This study aims to examine the role of reflective teachers, Continuous Professional Development (CPD), learning communities, Lesson Study, and Classroom Action Research (CAR) as means of teacher professional development. The study employed a qualitative approach using library research methods. Data were collected from scientific journals, books, proceedings, and other academic documents relevant to the research topic. The collected data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing based on the Miles and Huberman model. The findings indicate that reflective teachers play a significant role in improving teaching quality through continuous self-evaluation and reflection. CPD contributes to enhancing teachers’ professional competencies through training, self-development activities, scientific publications, and the utilization of educational technology. Learning communities and Lesson Study promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and pedagogical competence development among teachers. Furthermore, CAR enables teachers to identify classroom problems, implement improvement strategies, and generate evidence-based innovations in learning. Abstract

Teacher character development management in Islamic elementary schools is a critical yet underexplored area, particularly within organizationally affiliated institutions such as SD Al Qur'an Wahdah Islamiyah Tenggarong, East Kalimantan. This qualitative case study investigates the mechanisms of teacher character development grounded in Wahdah Islamiyah's core values, its implications for Al-Qur'an learning quality, and its alignment with the Kutai Kartanegara Regency Government's flagship program, Gerakan Etam Mengaji (GEMA), which is mandated through Peraturan Daerah No. 4 Tahun 2021. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with the principal (Muhammad Rahman, S.Pd), vice principals, and eight classroom teachers, supplemented by classroom observation and document analysis conducted from January to March 2025. Findings reveal that the school implements a structured weekly halaqah tarbiyah every Friday, consisting of: (1) collective Al-Qur'an recitation (tilawah), (2) memorization deposit (setoran hafalan), (3) Islamic study led by gender-segregated murabbi/murabbiyah, and (4) an open sharing session. This system demonstrates a significant convergence with GEMA's objectives of building a Qur'anic community culture across all institutional levels in Kutai Kartanegara. The study finds that the school's halaqah system predates and exceeds GEMA's minimum standards, positioning it as a model of organic institutional alignment with regional religious development policy. Student achievements in azan, tahfizh, tilawah, and Islamic quiz competitions further validate the model's effectiveness. The study proposes the 'Jumat Tarbiyah Character Model' (JTCM) as a replicable framework.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of social stigma on insecurity and self-concept in adolescents with physical disabilities through a literature review method. Adolescence is the most crucial phase in the formation of identity and self-concept, which is influenced by social acceptance and assessment from the surrounding environment. Adolescents with physical disabilities often experience negative stigma in the form of labeling, discrimination, and social exclusion, which impacts their psychological condition. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature review design through a review of various scientific articles. Data were obtained through searching academic databases and then analyzed using content analysis and inductive thematic analysis. The results of this study indicate that social stigma can have a significant negative impact on adolescents with physical disabilities, then emerging feelings of insecurity, low self-esteem, withdrawal from the surrounding environment and the formation of a negative self-concept. However, several studies also show that support from surrounding people such as family, friends, and the surrounding environment can help adolescents to build resilience, increase self- confidence and a positive self-concept. Therefore, increasing awareness from the community or surrounding environment is essential to reduce stigma and support the psychological well-being of adolescents with physical disabilities.
