Arabic language students face difficulties when studying al qawaid al asassiyah in the Nahwu course due to the diversity of educational backgrounds within a single class, which includes graduates from general high schools (SMA/SMK), Islamic high schools (MA), and Islamic boarding schools (Pesantren). This research aims to examine the influence of educational background on the learning outcomes of Arabic language students in al qawaid al asassiyah at UIN Imam Bonjol Padang and to suggest solutions for both students and instructors when encountering these challenges. Using a quantitative, descriptive approach, the findings show a significant impact of educational background on learning outcomes, as indicated by the varying average final scores: 50 for SMA alumni, 56.68 for MA alumni, and 61.49 for Pesantren alumni.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the development of speaking skills through the use of video at Meskomamban Junior High School. The researcher observed that the teaching methods employed there were not innovative, rather stagnant, and lacked sufficient teaching aids, leading to decreased enthusiasm and diligence among students. In response to these issues, the study was conducted in a quasi-experimental manner by utilizing video as a medium to enhance speaking skills. The researcher played a dual role in order to assess the effectiveness of using videos to improve the speaking abilities of ninth-grade students at Meskomamban Junior High School, as well as to evaluate the advancement of instructional media in the school. The research focused specifically on the application of video as a teaching tool. The study population consisted of ninth-grade students. Data collection was carried out through testing, with both quantitative and qualitative analysis methods used. The results showed that the use of video media significantly improved students’ Arabic speaking skills, as reflected in the test scores at each stage: prior to the intervention, the score was 32%; in the first phase, it increased to 58%; and in the second phase, it further rose to 83%. These findings indicate a notable enhancement in Arabic speaking proficiency.

Abstract

This research discusses the results of action research aimed at enhancing the learning of Arabic Grammar through the combination of electronic and conventional mind mapping learning strategies. The problem addressed in this research is the low comprehension of students regarding Arabic Grammar material. Before the intervention, the student completion rate was only 55%, and their average score was low at 62. The research method employed in this study is action research, which involves a group of students in a continuous learning process over several cycles. The research results indicate that electronic and conventional mind mapping learning strategies significantly improved students' understanding of Arabic Grammar material. This improvement is evident in the completion rate, which increased to 81% in Cycle I and 90% in Cycle II. Students demonstrated an enhancement in their ability to identify and apply Arabic Grammar rules. Additionally, they displayed improvements in both oral and written communication skills in the Arabic language. Therefore, the combination of electronic and conventional mind mapping learning strategies can be an effective approach to enhance Arabic Grammar learning. The findings of this research offer valuable insights for educators seeking to improve the quality of Arabic Grammar.

Abstract

Teaching methods are crucial in the process of learning Nahwu . The Nahwu teaching method applied at MTs Tanwirul Qulub Lamongan still uses conventional methods, which lead to learning problems among students. The students struggle to understand Nahwu material properly, face difficulties in memorizing the material, and have trouble creating examples of rule application. Based on these issues, there is a need for an appropriate teaching method to address these problems effectively. This study uses a quantitative method and employs a quasiexperimental design to determine the effectiveness of the Al-Miftah Lil Ulum method in improving the nahwu understanding of eighth-grade students. The subjects of this study were 60 eighth-grade students from MTs Tanwirul Qulub, consisting of 30 students from class A and 30 students from class B. Tests, observation sheets, and documentation sheets were used to collect data. The research utilized a comparative descriptive method and t-test to analyze the data. The findings showed that the t-test value at the t-count value was 3.289, which is greater than the ttable value, and the sig. (2-tailed) value was 0.000, which is less than 0.05. This was then used to test the hypothesis. The results indicated that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted, meaning that the application of the Al-Miftah Lil Ulum method is effective in improving nahwu understanding compared to conventional methods among eighth-grade students at MTs Tanwirul Qulub Lamongan.

Abstract

Arabic language teaching encompasses the acquisition of four language skills: listening (al-istima’), speaking (al-kalam), reading (al-qira’ah), and writing (al-kitabah). Mastering these four language skills requires considerable time and effort. The stigma surrounding the difficulty of teaching Arabic is still significant, hence the need for educators to employ creativity in delivering engaging Arabic language instruction. Language games  can be one of the options as a method for teaching Arabic language. Arabic language instruction packaged with language games can create an impression that teaching is easy and interesting, thus avoiding monotony. This study aims to provide examples of several language games that can be applied in Arabic language instruction while assessing the benefits of implementing these games. The research adopts a literature review approach with qualitative descriptive analysis. Data sources include relevant books, journals, articles, and papers. Data collection is conducted through documentation techniques and analyzed using content analysis methods. The research findings indicate that language games applied in Arabic language instruction are an effective solution for mastering the four language skills with maximal student involvement. The teaching atmosphere becomes enjoyable, fostering students' confidence.

Abstract

Language serves as a means of communication among humans. Through language, individuals express their preferences and dislikes, as well as offer praise or criticism to others. This highlights the significant role language plays in a person's life, as it can bring respect or subject them to insult. Accordingly, there is an intrinsic relationship between language—particularly spoken language—and religiosity. This research aims to explore spoken language specifically, as the researcher will focus extensively on how individuals use speech to convey their intentions. The central research question is: "Is there a relationship between spoken language and the quality of religiosity?" This study employs a library research method, utilizing books as primary sources, supplemented by scientific articles, online publications, and other materials as needed. The findings reveal a reciprocal relationship between language and religiosity: language serves as the cause, and religiosity as the effect. The better one’s language, the stronger their religiosity appears; however, language alone is not the sole indicator of religiosity. It is possible for someone to speak gently and use kind words, yet still be cursed by Allah for hypocrisy and envy.
