Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of the Sipakainge livestock group in utilizing corn cob waste, which has potential as animal feed. The method employed in this program was the society participatory approach, which included stages of counseling, training, and mentoring in the application of complete feed wafers for cattle. The evaluation instruments consisted of pre-tests and post-tests administered via Google Forms, and the results were analyzed quantitatively using the gain score (N-Gain) method. The outcomes of this program showed that farmers were able to optimize corn cob waste as a complete feed wafer, combined with Azolla pinnata as a protein source. The results indicated an increase in partners’ knowledge and skills, with two key assessment components: 85% for knowledge of complete feed wafer production and 90% for practical production skills. The implication of this activity is that the partner group now possesses a chopper and pressing machine, enabling them to independently produce complete feed wafers.

The evaluation results were analyzed quantitatively and interpreted using the N-Gain method. The results of this community service activity showed an increase of 54.1% in the partners’ knowledge and skills in utilizing home garden areas for cultivating vegetables to meet family needs. In addition, the activity involved the active participation of housewives in processing communal household waste into organic fertilizer that can be used by the partner group or surrounding residents.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve partners’ knowledge and skills regarding vaccination as an effort to control diseases caused by pathogenic organisms, particularly aeromoniasis, which is induced by Aeromonas spp. The partner group consists of fish farmers in Dukuh Waluh Village, Banyumas Regency. The implementation method employed a participatory approach, consisting of four stages: socialization, training, mentoring, and evaluation. The evaluation instruments included questionnaires and interviews, analyzed using a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The results of this program showed that 85% of partner members understood fish disease management, an increase from 50% (exceeding the 80% target), and 85% were able to comprehend and implement fish vaccination practices, an improvement from 42.5% (also exceeding the 80% target). The activity also proved successful in achieving a fish survival rate of 95% in the vaccinated group—surpassing the target of 80%—while the control group (unvaccinated fish) reached only 50%. Overall, the evaluation results indicate that this community service activity effectively assisted partners in addressing fish disease issues and improving aquaculture production performance.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the knowledge and understanding of the Mulyo Livestock Farmer Group in Jabung Village, Panekan District, Magetan Regency, regarding livestock waste management, which has not been properly implemented as waste is still being disposed of directly onto land adjacent to the river. The activity was carried out by providing education to dairy farmers on managing cattle manure into biogas using cellulolytic microbial optimizers. The implementation methods included: (1) survey/observation, (2) socialization/counseling, (3) monitoring, and (4) evaluation. Evaluation instruments consisted of assessment sheets and evaluation rubrics, while the results were analyzed through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to formulate a Follow-Up Action Plan (RTL) as the foundation for program sustainability. The results of this activity were: (1) a 100% increase in farmers’ knowledge regarding the importance and use of cellulolytic microbes in the bioconversion of agricultural and livestock waste; (2) a 76% improvement in farmers’ understanding of processing livestock waste into organic fertilizer and biogas; and (3) 94% of dairy farmers expressed willingness to produce microbial cultures independently to support the management of agricultural and livestock waste.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance the capacity and quality of processed milkfish products through technology utilization and product diversification innovation. The implementation methods were oriented toward solving priority problems through ergonomics training, social media marketing training, assistance in obtaining halal certification, and technology transfer in the form of a pressure cooker and charcoal grill. The intervention focused on three main problem areas: production, marketing, and management. The results of the program showed a significant improvement in the production capacity of the Cheisya Kitchen business with the provision of Appropriate Technology (AT) equipment, namely a 20-kg capacity pressure cooker and a 60×40×85 cm charcoal grill machine. Production capacity increased by approximately 50% among three assisted partners. In terms of efficiency, the use of these machines enabled larger-scale production within shorter processing times. Partners also received training on operating the AT machines to ensure sustainable use. From a quality perspective, ergonomics training helped partners organize the production process more effectively. Furthermore, the processed milkfish products successfully obtained halal certification, enabling their distribution through online sales platforms. Partners were also trained and mentored in packaging using a vacuum sealer and in digital marketing through TikTok and Shopee, contributing to increased market reach and business competitiveness.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the understanding and skills of farmer group members in conducting spatial-based data collection of sugar palm (Arenga pinnata) resources. The methods implemented include socialization, spatial data collection training using mobile GPS, participatory mapping assistance, and program evaluation through pre-test and post-test methods. Data analysis was carried out using GIS software. The results of the participatory mapping of sugar palm potential identified 36 potential points of Arenga pinnata within the operational area of the Karya Baru Farmer Group, consisting of 7 productive trees and 29 non-productive ones. Evaluation results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ competencies, with increases of 43.2% in skills, 41.8% in motivation, 37.3% in knowledge, and 33.9% in attitude—demonstrating the achievement and effectiveness of the participatory mapping program. Overall, the Participatory Mapping of Sugar Palm Potential activity in the Karya Baru Farmer Group area has successfully increased members’ understanding of the importance of mapping and recording natural resource assets as a foundational database for the future development of sugar palm–based products.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve the knowledge of community health cadres and families in providing palliative care to enhance the quality of life of patients with chronic illnesses at home. The program employed education and training methods, with data collected through pre- and post-test questionnaires on palliative care knowledge. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results show that before the palliative care education, participants’ knowledge levels were categorized as fair (61%; 14 participants), good (30%; 7 participants), and poor (9%; 2 participants). After the education, 96% (22 participants) demonstrated good knowledge, and 4% (1 participant) showed fair knowledge. The Wilcoxon test results indicated a significant increase in knowledge after the palliative care education, with a p-value of 0.01. The increase in knowledge strengthened the role of community health cadres in assisting, monitoring, and providing palliative care for patients with chronic diseases at home.
