Abstract

Verbal bullying remains a pervasive issue in Indonesian educational settings, significantly undermining adolescent self-esteem and mental health. This study examines the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) group counseling in improving self-esteem among victims of verbal bullying in senior high schools in Banjarmasin. Employing a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, the research involved 139 Grade X students, with 8 identified as verbal bullying victims through purposive sampling. The intervention comprised three CBT counseling sessions incorporating cognitive restructuring and assertiveness training. Data were collected using a validated self-esteem questionnaire (Cronbach's α = 0.726) and analyzed through paired t-tests following normality and homogeneity checks. Results revealed a statistically significant increase in self-esteem scores from pretest to posttest (p = 0.003), with participants demonstrating improved self-perception, reduced social avoidance, and enhanced classroom participation. While findings support CBT's potential effectiveness in addressing bullying-related low self-esteem, the pre-experimental design and small sample size limit causal inferences. This study contributes evidence for integrating CBT-based group counseling into school anti-bullying programs in the Indonesian context, though randomised controlled trials are recommended to establish definitive efficacy. The intervention offers practical strategies for school counselors to support victims of verbal bullying, fostering safer and more inclusive educational environments. Abstract

Phubbing in romantic relationships is a form of smartphone misuse, occurring when individuals prioritize their smartphones over direct interaction with their partners. This behavior disrupts social interactions, creates household conflict, evokes jealousy, lowers marital satisfaction, and increases the risk of depression. The present study aimed to examine the contribution of smartphone addiction, self-control, and marital satisfaction to spousal phubbing behavior. A quantitative survey approach with a descriptive-correlational design was employed. The population consisted of married couples who actively used smartphones, and the sample was obtained through convenience sampling. Data were collected using validated and reliable Likert-scale instruments measuring smartphone addiction, self-control, marital satisfaction, and phubbing behavior. Data analysis was conducted using multiple regression. The findings revealed that smartphone addiction, self-control, and marital satisfaction together contributed 49.4% to spousal phubbing behavior, while the remaining proportion was explained by other factors. These results highlight the need to address smartphone use and self-regulation in maintaining marital harmony. Keywords: phubbing, marital satisfaction, self-control, smartphone addiction

Abstract

This study aims to systematically examine and synthesize the theoretical foundations underlying contemporary coaching practices by integrating psychological, pedagogical, and managerial perspectives. Using a systematic literature review guided by the PRISMA framework, this study analyzed 44 national and international peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2020 and 2025. Data were selected through transparent inclusion and exclusion criteria and analyzed using thematic analysis to identify dominant theories and integrative patterns in coaching research. The findings reveal that psychological theories such as Self-Determination Theory, Psychological Safety, Positive Psychology, Cognitive-Behavioral approaches, and Transformative Learning emphasize intrinsic motivation, trust, and reflective change. Pedagogical frameworks, including Andragogy, Dialogic and Inclusive Pedagogy, and Technology-Enhanced Learning, highlight experiential, learner-centered, and culturally responsive coaching processes. From a managerial perspective, Systems Theory, Managerial Coaching, Organizational Change, Innovation Management, and Sustainable Leadership position coaching as a strategic mechanism for performance improvement and organizational sustainability. The synthesis proposes an Interdisciplinary Coaching Model grounded in evidence-based coaching, integrating motivation, learning, and organizational alignment. This study contributes theoretically by consolidating cross-disciplinary coaching frameworks and practically by offering a coherent foundation for designing adaptive, culturally sensitive, and sustainable coaching interventions. Abstract

This study aimed to develop and validate a family quality scale for adolescents as a contextual and practical measurement tool for guidance and counseling services. Unlike existing instruments that predominantly adopt universal family constructs, this scale was developed based on eight family functions in the Indonesian context: religious, socio-cultural, love and affection, protection, reproduction, socialization and education, economic, and environmental functions. This approach allows the instrument to reflect the characteristics of family life within a local cultural framework. The study employed a mixed-methods design. The qualitative approach involved content validation by two experts using Gregory’s method, while the quantitative approach was used to empirically test the instrument’s validity and reliability with the Rasch Model. The field trial involved 1,823 senior high school students in Yogyakarta and Pontianak, selected through random sampling. Data were collected via Google Forms distributed by school guidance and counseling teachers. The analysis results indicated that the instrument demonstrated strong validity and reliability, as evidenced by a raw variance explained of 81.5%, fulfillment of unidimensionality criteria, and an optimal response category structure. These findings confirm that the developed scale accurately and consistently measures adolescent family quality. In practice, this instrument can be used by school counselors as an initial assessment tool to plan family-based counseling interventions and to support further research in the field of guidance and counseling. Abstract

This study addresses the digital divide affecting the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in rural Indonesian elementary schools, where limited infrastructure and teacher readiness constrain meaningful science learning. The study aimed to explore how gamified digital learning can enhance student engagement and conceptual understanding in IPAS classrooms. Employing a qualitative case study design, the research was conducted at State Elementary School 2 Sesaot in West Lombok, involving 1 IPAS teacher, 25 fifth-grade students, the school principal, and parents. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis, and analyzed using an interactive thematic model. The findings indicate that the integration of animated videos, visual slides, Wordwall, and Quizizz significantly improved learning outcomes, with 85% of students demonstrating better conceptual understanding of ecosystems, 78% reporting increased enjoyment, and 82% showing greater confidence in participation. The results suggest that digital media functioned as cognitive scaffolds, while gamification strengthened motivational engagement. Despite limitations related to short implementation duration and infrastructural constraints, the study highlights the feasibility of digital–gamified learning in low-resource settings. The study contributes theoretically by proposing a dual-pathway learning model and, practically, by offering policy-relevant insights to support sustainable, context-responsive digital learning in rural elementary schools. Abstract

This study aims to develop a learning model in emergency response situations using the GEOVAN PSIMAT setting, fun gratitude activities. This learning model combines the concepts of geometry and child psychology, using a fun approach and teaching children gratitude. This model is designed to improve mathematical understanding while reducing stress and psychological trauma in children affected by disasters. This research is a development study using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation), covering the analysis, design, and development stages. The GEOVAN PSIMAT model makes an original contribution by integrating a positive psychology approach grounded in gratitude, contextual emergency learning, and child-friendly psychosocial interventions into a single operational framework applicable during the disaster emergency response phase. Previous studies show that disaster education and learning in emergency situations are generally still positioned sectorally, i.e., limited to increasing preparedness knowledge, disaster simulations, or psychosocial recovery, all separate from the academic learning process. The analysis results indicate that mathematics learning in emergency situations should be simple, flexible, activity-based, and integrated with emotional management activities, particularly gratitude activities. The validation results show that the GEOVAN PSIMAT learning model is highly valid, with a score of 91.6%, and include minor suggestions, such as the addition of visual illustrations and interactive examples. Abstract

Although the psychological impacts of natural disasters have been widely studied, in-depth research on the process of spiritual well-being formation among survivors of volcanic eruptions in eastern Indonesia, particularly within local cultural contexts, remains very limited. This study addresses this gap by exploring how survivors interpret and construct their spiritual well-being following the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki in East Flores. This study employed a qualitative design using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Five survivors who directly experienced the eruption participated in in-depth semi-structured interviews. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis following Creswell’s procedural stages, including coding, theme development, and cross-case interpretation. The findings reveal that spiritual well-being develops through four interrelated domains: personal, communal, environmental, and transcendental. The personal domain involves self-acceptance and meaning-making; the communal domain emphasizes solidarity and mutual care; the environmental domain reflects renewed awareness of nature; and the transcendental domain highlights a deeper relationship with God. These domains are strengthened by mindfulness, self-compassion, and social support within the refugee community. This study contributes to the development of spiritual well-being theory in post-disaster contexts by providing an in-depth phenomenological understanding of survivors’ lived experiences. Practically, the findings suggest that community-based recovery programs should integrate spiritual and social dimensions to enhance holistic post-disaster rehabilitation. Abstract

Bullying in the school environment is a serious problem that has an impact on the social development and psychological health of students. The perpetrator's low empathy is one of the factors that strengthen aggressive behavior. Although psychodrama techniques have been known as an effective experiential counseling approach, their integration with local cultural values such as Gurindam 12 has not been extensively tested quantitatively, particularly in Indonesia. This study aims to test the effectiveness of group counseling with psychodrama techniques loaded with the value of Gurindam 12 in increasing the empathy of bullies. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group. A total of 20 students with high levels of bullying and low empathy were selected through purposive sampling and divided into experimental (n=10) and control (n=10) groups. The instrument used was an adaptation of the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (α = 0.917). Data analysis was carried out using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank and Kolmogorov-Smirnov Two-Independent-Samples tests. The results showed a significant improvement in the experimental group (mean from 115.3 to 181.0; N-Gain of 70.0 in the high category) compared to the control group (mean from 108.4 to 166.3; N-Gain of 57.5 in the moderate category), with significanta differences between-group difference (Z=2.236; p=0.003). These findings suggest that integrating cultural values into psychodrama effectively enhances empathy and supports student character building. Abstract

Many parents of young children continue to struggle to apply positive parenting practices consistently, largely due to limited access to practical, engaging educational resources. Addressing this gap, the present study aimed to develop and evaluate an Interactive Educational Pop-Up Book entitled “Pelangi di Rumah Kita” designed to enhance parents’ understanding of positive parenting in kindergarten settings. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the 4-D model (define, design, develop, and disseminate). The product was validated by two experts and field-tested with 30 parents from three kindergartens in Sidrap Regency. Data were collected through observations, interviews, expert validation sheets, parent response questionnaires, and pretest–posttest instruments. The validation process yielded an average total validity score of 3.22, indicating that the product met the validity criteria. The practicality assessment showed a very high level of usability (99.83%), reflecting positive parental responses regarding ease of use, attractiveness, and relevance. Effectiveness testing using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test demonstrated a significant increase in parents’ scores from 60 (75%) on the pretest to 79.8 (99.75%) on the posttest (Asymp. Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05). These findings indicate that the developed media is valid, practical, and effective in strengthening parents’ understanding and application of positive parenting practices. Abstract

Self-regulation is a crucial psychological capacity for women who live a dual role in the context of patriarchal culture. This study aims to explore the process of self-regulation among Javanese women in dual roles within a patriarchal culture who work as health workers. This study uses a qualitative case study approach involving five participants selected through purposive and snowball sampling techniques. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using reflective thematic analysis. The results showed that participants experienced significant affective distress due to the demands of simultaneous domestic and professional roles. Self-monitoring emerges as an important mechanism but tends to be reactive, with awareness of one's condition only arising after experiencing fatigue or increased emotional distress. Self-assessment is dominated by external standards oriented towards role fulfillment, while regulatory strategies used include emotional suppression, selective emotional management, self-reflection, and expectation adjustment. Patriarchal culture shapes this process through the internalization of norms of conformity and family priorities. These findings underscore the importance of psychological interventions that not only strengthen self-regulation but also encourage reflective awareness, proactive boundary management, and the development of more adaptive emotional strategies to support women's well-being in dual roles within patriarchal societies. Keywords: dual role, healthcare workers, javanese women, patriarchal culture, self-regulation
