Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between feminine gender roles and fear of success in working women aged twenty to forty years. Various theories suggest that successful women tend to fear losing their femininity, making this empirical investigation essential. A quantitative correlational research method with probability sampling was employed. The participants were 150 working women recruited via online questionnaires. The instruments used were the Bem Sex Role Inventory (BSRI) to measure feminine gender role and the Fear of Success Scale (FOSS) by Zuckerman and Allison to measure fear of success. Hypothesis testing revealed a correlation coefficient of -0.210 with a significance value of 0.010, leading to the rejection of the alternative hypothesis and acceptance of the null hypothesis. In conclusion, there is no significant relationship between feminine gender roles and fear of success in working women. These findings indicate that the manifestation and factors of feminine gender role can occur and be influenced by factors other than fear of success, such as educational experiences, cultural context, family support, work-family conflict management, and individual psychological resources including self-compassion and resilience. Keywords: feminine gender role, fear of success, working women

Abstract

Toxic productivity has become increasingly prevalent among university students as academic expectations, social pressures, and institutional policies collectively shape a culture that normalizes continuous activity. This study examines the phenomenon within the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman by exploring how students interpret productivity-oriented academic regulations and how these structures interact with psychological tendencies. Using a descriptive quantitative design, data were collected from 233 undergraduate students through a structured questionnaire employing Likert and Guttman scales and analyzed using frequency distributions and descriptive statistics to identify behavioral patterns, perceptions of institutional policies, and experienced impacts. The findings show that many students experience persistent pressure to remain productive, often accompanied by guilt during rest, academic overload, and declining well-being. Students perceive institutional requirements, such as mandatory organizational involvement and credit-based activity systems, as reinforcing an achievement-oriented environment that promotes excessive productivity. These results demonstrate that toxic productivity arises not only from personal or social factors but also from structural academic expectations that shape bounded rationality in student decision-making. The study concludes that policy adjustments that promote flexibility, balanced performance indicators, and improved mental health support are essential to mitigating excessive productivity pressures and fostering healthier academic conditions. Abstract

Supervision and accountability are critical to improving the quality of guidance and counseling services, yet gaps remain in understanding their development and implementation, particularly in comparative contexts between Indonesia and the international community. (1) Objective: This study explores the development of supervision and accountability in guidance and counseling through a comparison of Indonesian cases with those in other countries. (2) Method: A systematic literature review was conducted in Google Scholar, Taylor & Francis, Sage Publication, Wiley, and Frontiers databases for the period 2015-2025. Inclusion criteria were peer-reviewed articles in English/Indonesian that discussed supervision and/or accountability practices, while exclusion criteria excluded non-empirical and irrelevant articles. (3) Results: Of the 1008 identified articles, 10 were selected, 4 Indonesian, 6 international. Indonesian research emphasized contextual adaptive technology supervision models, while international research developed evidence-based frameworks such as Ethical-Relational Clinical Supervision. (4) Implications: Supervision is a multidimensional construct that integrates technical, relational, and welfare aspects with the challenges of cultural adaptation. (5) Recommendations: Future research needs to develop an integrated model, explore the role of digital technology, and design supervision effectiveness measurement instruments that are sensitive to the local Indonesian context. Keywords: accountability, guidance and counseling, supervision

Abstract

The career decision-making process is a critical developmental task during adolescence, especially for senior high school students transitioning from further education to employment. This study examined the effect of teacher support on career decision-making self-efficacy (CDMSE), with gender tested as a potential moderator, among 542 students from public senior high schools in Semarang City, Indonesia. Data were analyzed using Hayes’ PROCESS Model 1. The findings revealed that teacher support significantly predicted students’ CDMSE (β = 0.60, p < .01, 95% CI: 0.50–0.72). Gender differences were also observed, with female students reporting higher CDMSE than male students (β = -2.40, p < .05, 95% CI: -4.46 to– 0.35). However, the interaction between teacher support and gender was non-significant (β = -0.19, p > .05), indicating that teacher support contributes similarly to CDMSE across genders. This study offers novel empirical evidence from the Indonesian secondary school context, enriching the Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT) through gender-based moderation testing. Practically, the findings highlight the importance of strengthening teachers’ roles in school-based career guidance to enhance students’ confidence in making informed career choices. Abstract

Risky sexual behavior among Indonesian adolescents continues to increase, posing significant risks to health, educational outcomes, and social stability. Information-based educational approaches are often insufficient because they focus primarily on knowledge delivery, without adequately developing psychosocial skills such as assertiveness in managing peer pressure and in establishing personal boundaries. This study employed a quantitative approach using a single-group interrupted time series design with four baseline measurements to examine the effectiveness of group counseling services based on assertiveness training techniques in improving adolescents’ awareness of healthy sexual behavior. Participants consisted of nine 11th-grade students (five females and four males; mean age = 16.8 years) from a public senior high school in Padang, Indonesia. Data were collected using the MESSRA Scale, a 35-item instrument with good internal consistency (Cronbach’s α = 0.87). Measurements were conducted across eight observation points (O1-O8), including four baseline and four post-intervention assessments. The results showed a significant increase in awareness scores from a mean of 101.72 (moderate category) to 128.69 (high category), with a large effect size (r = 0.71). All participants demonstrated improvement, with N-Gain scores categorized as moderate to high. These findings suggest that assertiveness training-based group counseling represents a structured, skill-oriented intervention that can be effectively integrated into school counseling curricula and adolescent reproductive health programs as a preventive strategy. Keywords: adolescents, assertive training, group counseling, healthy sexual behavior, school counseling.

Abstract

Stunting remains a critical nutritional challenge in Indonesia, contributing to long-term cognitive, economic, and health deficits. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of religious-based peer guidance in improving adolescents' understanding of stunting as a preventive strategy. A quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group was employed. The sample consisted of 20 adolescents with low baseline knowledge of stunting, divided equally into an experimental group (receiving religious-based peer guidance) and a control group (receiving conventional peer guidance through discussion only). The stunting understanding scale, developed based on Bloom's Taxonomy, was administered as a pre-test and post-test. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test and the Mann-Whitney U Test. Results indicated that both groups showed significant improvements; however, the experimental group demonstrated a substantially greater increase, moving from moderate to high understanding levels (post-test scores of 90–120), while the control group remained in the moderate range (post-test scores of 60–89). The Mann-Whitney U Test revealed a significant difference between the two groups (p = 0.000), confirming the superior effectiveness of the religious-based approach. These findings suggest that integrating religious values into peer guidance not only enhances cognitive understanding but also reinforces adolescents' internal commitment to stunting prevention. This study contributes a novel, culturally grounded intervention model for counselors and health educators. Abstract

Adolescence is a developmental stage marked by heightened emotional vulnerability, making school-based interventions essential for promoting well-being. This study examined the effects of a structured gratitude journaling program on positive affect among junior-high-school students in a rural area, Rancaekek, Bandung Regency, Indonesia. Using a pretest–posttest control group design, 70 students (aged 13–15) were randomly assigned to an experimental group (35 students) or a control group (35 students). Positive affect was measured at three time points using the Indonesian version of the PANAS-C. Mixed ANOVA results showed a significant interaction effect, with the experimental group reporting greater improvements in positive affect compared to controls (p = .001, η² = .131). Qualitative reflections supported these findings, where students expressed greater emotional awareness, social connection, and positive self-perception. The study concludes that gratitude journaling is a low-cost, evidence-based strategy for enhancing adolescent emotional well-being. School-based interventions could be developed based on these results. Keywords: gratitude journaling, school-based intervention, positive affect, adolescents, positive psychology

Abstract

This study explores the multidimensional professional identity of senior high school counselors in Bandung City. Using a phenomenological approach and focus group discussions, five indicators of professional identity were identified: professional involvement, knowledge, attitudes, roles and expertise, and professional philosophy. Findings reveal that active engagement in professional organizations enhances competencies and social capital, while knowledge of the profession’s history and regulations informs ethical and effective practice. Empathy, objectivity, and relational orientation strengthen professional pride, and counselors’ roles in case management and referral highlight their adaptive and accountable function as connectors. The philosophy of guidance and counseling, grounded in preventive, strengths-based, and humanistic principles, supports holistic student development and resilience. Professional identity emerges from integrating experience, competence, ethics, and collaboration, contributing to improved counseling services and student well-being. Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of deep learning-based training in strengthening multicultural competence and awareness of radicalism among Indonesian school counselors. Employing a quasi-experimental mixed-method design, the study involved 17 guidance and counseling teachers from secondary schools in Garut Regency, West Java. The three-week intervention integrated Socratic dialogue, experiential simulation, and structured cultural reflection. Quantitative data were collected using a pretest-posttest Radicalism Attitude Inventory, while qualitative data were obtained from reflective portfolios, interviews, focus group discussions, and observations. The paired-sample t-test revealed statistically significant improvement in counselors' radicalism awareness (p = 0.015, Cohen's d = 0.657), driven primarily by substantial gains in detecting overt radicalism indicators (Revolutionary dimension: p = 0.001, d = 1.03). Qualitative findings demonstrated transformative professional development, including increased cultural self-awareness, enhanced empathetic and dialogic counseling skills, greater sensitivity to subtle forms of intolerance, and improved readiness to implement preventive strategies in school contexts. Overall, the findings indicate that deep learning-based training facilitates professional transformation through iterative reflection and experiential learning, supporting its integration into counselor professional development programs focused on multicultural practice and radicalism prevention. Keywords: deep learning, mixed-method research, multicultural competence, radicalism prevention, school counselors
