Abstract

Risky driving behaviour significantly contributes to traffic accidents, with gender long recognized as an influencing internal factor. However, findings on gender’s role in driving behaviour are inconsistent. This systematic review explores gender’s influence on two risky driving categories, violations and errors, while considering cultural context and research methodologies. Following PRISMA guidelines, an initial search yielded 110 articles. After title screening, 62 remained, with subsequent abstract review narrowing the selection to a final 21 scientific articles published between 2015 and 2025, primarily from ScienceDirect. Results indicate that men tend to commit more offences, while women commit more errors, particularly in WEIRD countries. Furthermore, the utilized research designs influenced the generalizability of the findings. This study emphasizes the significance of cross-cultural approaches and appropriate design in gender-based traffic safety research, highlighting the need for targeted interventions. Abstract

Career behavior is a crucial factor for Vocational High School students to successfully transition into the workforce. However, many students face challenges such as low self-confidence, unclear career goals, and limited decision-making skills. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of group counseling using the Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) approach in improving the career behavior of Vocational High School students. The study employed a quantitative method with a pre-test post-test control group design, involving 24 students divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group received CBT-based group counseling across 6 sessions over three weeks, while the control group received general career guidance. Data were collected using a validated Likert-scale Career Behavior Inventory and analyzed with the Mann-Whitney U test due to the small sample size. The results showed a statistically significant difference between the two groups (U = 0.000, Z = -4.161, p < 0.05, effect size r = 0.85), with the experimental group demonstrating substantial improvements in self-awareness, self-confidence, career decision-making, and readiness for planning future careers. These findings indicate that CBT is an effective intervention for enhancing students’ career behavior. Practically, this study suggests that CBT-based counseling can be integrated into school counseling programs to better prepare vocational students for the demands of the labor market. Abstract

Adolescents often face academic challenges that require strong self-confidence or self-efficacy; however, many students exhibit low levels of learning self-efficacy. Self-efficacy plays a crucial role in determining students' motivation, perseverance, and academic achievement. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of group guidance using problem-solving techniques in improving the learning self-efficacy of junior high school students. The research employed a quantitative method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects consisted of 10 students with low self-efficacy, selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was a self-efficacy questionnaire, and the data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The results showed an increase in the average score from 95.50 (pretest) to 111.80 (posttest), with a t-value of -12.899 (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that group guidance using problem-solving techniques is effective in enhancing students’ confidence in dealing with academic challenges. Further research is needed to explore its long-term impact and effectiveness across different educational levels and cultural contexts. Abstract

The transition to parenthood increases vulnerability to interparental conflict, especially in cultural contexts where parenting roles are strongly emphasized. However, valid tools to assess such conflict in Indonesia remain scarce. This study aimed to adapt the Parent Problem Checklist (PPC) into Indonesian and examine its psychometric properties. A total of 711 new parents participated. The adaptation process followed Beaton’s guidelines, including translation, expert review, and readability testing. Factor validity was assessed using Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analyses (EFA and CFA), and convergent validity was tested using the Couple Satisfaction Index (CSI). EFA revealed a three-factor structure: discipline, childcare, and family processes, with strong internal consistency (α = 0.850–0.908). The CFA showed a good model fit, and PPC scores were negatively correlated with CSI. These findings indicate that the Indonesian PPC is a valid and reliable tool for assessing interparental conflict among new parents. Abstract

Access to higher education for students with disabilities is increasing, yet they still face challenges that impact their psychological well-being and academic performance. This study aims to analyze the role of peer relationships and academic self-efficacy on the academic resilience of students with disabilities in higher education. Using a quantitative method and voluntary sampling, 155 students with visual, hearing, and physical-motor impairments participated in an online survey from February to May 2025. Results show that while most students had positive peer relationships, these did not significantly impact academic resilience. However, academic self-efficacy had a significant positive effect on academic resilience. Peer relationships and academic self-efficacy significantly influenced academic resilience (p < 0.05). These findings highlight the key role of academic self-efficacy in promoting resilience and academic success among students with disabilities in higher education settings. Abstract

This study explores the mental preparedness of prisoners to cope with social stigma as they approach reintegration into society in Indonesia. Its significance lies in its examination of the complex interplay between psychological well-being and external social pressures within the Indonesian correctional landscape. This topic has not been thoroughly explored in previous research. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, this study examines the subjective experiences of prisoners approaching release, providing valuable insights into their emotion regulation and coping strategies. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observation, and documentation, followed by thematic analysis facilitated by MAXQDA software. This software was crucial for organizing the qualitative data, allowing for the systematic exploration of themes that enriched the phenomenological analysis. The findings revealed that participants experienced significant impacts from social stigma, manifesting as feelings of shame and anxiety regarding social acceptance. However, they also demonstrated adaptive coping strategies, emphasizing the role of emotion regulation and social support in enhancing their mental preparedness for reintegration. This study provides new insights into the crucial factors influencing prisoners' readiness for reintegration, highlighting the dual influence of internal psychological resilience and external social perceptions. In contrast to previous research, this study specifically addresses the importance of mental preparedness in mitigating the negative impacts of stigma. Abstract

This article aims to explore the resilience and strategies employed by male early childhood education (PAUD) teachers in addressing the challenges of gender stereotypes within a female-dominated profession. This study employed a case study method using in-depth interview techniques. The data were analyzed through thematic analysis involving three male PAUD teachers. The interview results revealed that the resilience of male PAUD teachers is shaped by two main categories: internal and external factors. Internal factors include an interest in teaching, affection for children, confidence in one’s career choice, a sense of happiness, a desire to be a role model, and a personal meaning in being a PAUD teacher. External factors include support from colleagues and school administrators. In response to gender stereotypes, male teachers have developed several strategies, including fostering open communication with parents to reduce prejudice, emotionally and methodologically adapting to students, and utilizing social media to enhance their visibility and strengthen the positive image of male PAUD teachers. This study recommends the importance of more gender-inclusive institutional policies, such as anti-stereotyping training in educational institutions and the creation of fair representation in decision-making processes within PAUD settings. Abstract

Students raised in families with drug-addicted parents often face heightened anxiety due to unstable and neglectful home environments. This study investigated the effectiveness of the self-distancing technique a cognitive approach encouraging reflection on emotions from a third-person perspective in reducing anxiety among these students. Using a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design, 18 students were divided equally into experimental and control groups. Anxiety was measured with a validated and reliable questionnaire (r = 0.680–0.889; Cronbach’s α = 0.947). Despite non-normality (Shapiro-Wilk, p < 0.05), parametric tests were applied given the small sample size, with homogeneity confirmed (Levene’s test, p = 0.812). Results showed a significant reduction in anxiety in the experimental group (Paired Sample T-Test, p = 0.001; mean difference = 16.67) and significant differences between groups (Independent Sample T-Test, p = 0.000). The findings indicate that self-distancing effectively alleviates anxiety and can be integrated into school counseling programs as a culturally adaptable intervention to enhance students’ emotional well-being. Abstract

Teachers in Special Education face various complex professional and emotional challenges. In practice, they are required to possess strong psychological resilience, adaptive social skills, and the ability to manage stress effectively. This study aims to examine the validity and reliability of three psychosocial instruments used to measure social support, coping strategies, and burnout among Special Education teachers in Jambi Province. The instruments consist of a social support scale (12 items), a coping strategy scale (28 items), and a burnout scale (42 items). This study employed a descriptive quantitative approach involving 30 purposively selected Special Education teacher respondents. Validity testing was conducted using Pearson Product-Moment correlation, while reliability testing employed Cronbach’s Alpha. The results showed that all items in the social support instrument were valid and reliable (α = 0.852). In the coping strategy instrument, two items were invalid and removed, resulting in high reliability (α = 0.940). In the burnout instrument, 10 items were invalid and eliminated, yielding very high reliability (α = 0.960). These findings indicate that the three instruments are suitable for measuring the psychosocial aspects of Special Education teachers in Indonesia. Abstract

This research aims to explore the challenges and strategies for successful student interpersonal communication in the digital era, particularly focusing on digital platform usage for academic and social purposes. Information technology development has fundamentally transformed student interaction patterns, where text-based communication and social media have replaced many face-to-face interactions. Using a quantitative survey method with 200 active students, this study found that social media usage intensity positively correlates with digital misunderstanding levels. In contrast, face-to-face communication significantly contributes to interpersonal relationship satisfaction. Thematic analysis of qualitative data revealed student strategies including message clarification, emoji utilization, and switching to video platforms to overcome digital communication barriers. Furthermore, excessive social media use can trigger social anxiety and isolation feelings. These findings indicate that while digital platforms enhance efficiency and collaboration, they also risk communication quality and mental well-being, necessitating balanced approaches and improved digital communication literacy among students in higher education.
