Abstract

The Lengkong area, located in Sukabumi Regency, West Java Province, exhibits a complex geological structure. However, comprehensive studies related to structural geology in this area have not yet been conducted, thus requiring a more detailed geological understanding. The methods employed include field observations, measurement of rock layer orientations, and stereographic analysis to determine the kinematics and dynamics of deformation. The results of the study reveal the presence of three main structures: the Tegallega Anticline, the Neglasari Syncline, and the Neglasari Strike-Slip Fault. The anticline and syncline folds were formed during a compressional tectonic phase in the Plio–Pleistocene, oriented northwest–southeast, and are classified as Steeply Inclined Folds. Meanwhile, the Neglasari Fault developed during the Pleistocene as a response to northeast–southwest–oriented compressional stress, and is categorized as a Strike-Slip Dominated Fault with a Reverse Left-Slip movement type. The structural mechanisms were analyzed using the wrench fault concept, in which the folds are considered first-order structures and the faults as second-order structures. Overall, the regional north–south compressional deformation has controlled the formation of both faults and folds, while also influencing the geometry of the carbonate sandstone layers of the Lengkong Formation

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to thoroughly examine and summarize the findings of various studies on how to develop inquiry-based Student Worksheets (LKPD). In addition, this study also aims to determine the effectiveness of LKPD in improving learning outcomes and shaping students' scientific attitudes. The studies analyzed include several types of research approaches, namely Research and Development (R&D) focusing on product validity and feasibility, Classroom Action Research (CAR), and Quasi-Experiments. All of these studies share a common focus, namely applying a guided inquiry model or LKPD, in which students are guided to discover concepts on their own. The subjects reviewed were students from elementary school (SD), junior high school (SMP), to senior high school (SMA) in science subjects. The findings from this review show that guided inquiry worksheets are consistently declared feasible and practical for use, according to reports from R&D studies. Empirically, the application of LKPD or guided inquiry models has been proven to have a significant and positive impact on students' academic scores and scientific attitude development at various levels. The average increase in learning outcomes, as measured by N-gain scores, is generally in the moderate to high category. Significant improvements are also seen in other abilities, such as scientific process skills and scientific attitudes.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the presence of hydrocarbon-bearing fluids within the tight sand intervals of the Mississauga Formation in the Penobscot Field, Scotia Basin, Canada, through the analysis of amplitude- and frequency-based seismic attributes. The primary dataset comprises 3D seismic volumes processed using Pre-Stack Time Migration (PSTM), supported by well data from Penobscot L-30 and B-41 as lithology and fluid controls. A suite of seismic attributes—including RMS Amplitude, Envelope, Sweetness, Instantaneous Q, Intercept (A), Gradient (B), Low-Frequency Amplitude (15 Hz), and Amplitude Variation with Frequency (AVF)—was computed to evaluate lithological variations and fluid responses within the target interval. Among these, four key attributes—Sweetness, Envelope, Low-Frequency Amplitude (15 Hz), and AVF—were selected for integrated analysis using a multiplicative workflow following data normalization. The integration results reveal pronounced low-frequency (15–25 Hz) amplitude anomalies associated with an anticlinal crest in the central–southern part of the study area. This zone is interpreted as a gas-saturated sandstone layer characterized by low acoustic impedance and significant poroelastic effects. The integrated, normalized multi-attribute approach proves effective in enhancing seismic responses attributable to fluid presence and provides a robust basis for reservoir characterization in unconventional systems, particularly tight-sand environments.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a physics teaching module based on kaffah learning and test its feasibility and effectiveness in improving high school students' creative thinking skills. The study used the 4D R&D model method which includes the Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate stages. Validation by material and media experts showed that the module was in the very feasible category with an Aiken's V value of 0.83. The results of the trial at SMAN 3 Mataram showed an increase in the average score from 60 to 88. The N-Gain analysis produced a value of 0.38 with a moderate category, indicating an increase in creative thinking skills although not yet in the high category. The discussion shows that the kaffah learning approach encourages reflective and contextual activities, thereby helping to strengthen students' creative thinking indicators. The study concluded that the developed module was feasible and quite effective for use in physics learning.

Abstract

The stability of tunnels excavated within heterogeneous rock masses necessitates analytical approaches capable of realistically representing elasto-plastic behavior. This study evaluates the elasto-plastic response of the Kalilingseng Tunnel (Kulon Progo) employing the Hoek–Brown (H–B) failure criterion and the analytical formulation of Carranza-Torres and Fairhurst (CTF) for cylindrical openings. Rock-mass parameters were derived from field-based classification (GSI = 50) and back-analysis using RocLab, yielding mb = 1.509, s = 0.003866, a = 0.5057, Erm = 1.76 GPa, and ν = 0.28. The in-situ stresses at a depth of 34 m indicate σv = 0.637 MPa, σh = 0.322 MPa, and a normalized stress S0 = 0.0252. Analytical results show an onset of plasticity characterized by a critical internal support pressure Pi* = 0.00213, a relative plastic zone radius ξ = 1.010 (≈1% beyond the excavation boundary), and a nondimensional radial closure Ur = 0.000487, corresponding to an actual displacement ur ≈ 0.73 mm for a tunnel radius b = 1.5 m. The wall-stress profile yields σr(b) = 0.0017 MPa and σθ(b) = 0.958 MPa, both well below the rock-mass strength. The resulting Ground Reaction Curve (GRC) exhibits a smooth, nonlinear decay without any abrupt deformation, consistent with the mild yielding regime described in the nondimensional CTF framework. These findings confirm that the rock mass remains inherently stable, implying that support strategies required for the tunnel are primarily deformation-control measures rather than structural reinforcement.
