Abstract

This research discusses the importance of Islamic value and character education in shaping the personality of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) students as prospective teachers with noble character, professionalism, and integrity. This topic was chosen because PAI students have a moral responsibility as agents of change and role models for students and society. The service method used is descriptive-qualitative through conceptual analysis of the application of Islamic values in the campus environment, both in lecture activities and non-formal activities. The results of the study show that Islamic value education plays an important role in shaping honesty, trust, responsibility, tawadhu', and student discipline. The implementation of these values is carried out through habituation, lecturer examples, and campus activities with religious and inclusive nuances. In addition, Islamic character education has also been proven to increase the work readiness of prospective teachers by fostering professional ethics, social empathy, and a balanced personality between intellectual and spiritual aspects. In conclusion, Islamic values and character education is the main foundation in producing prospective PAI educators who are not only academically intelligent, but also have high morals and morals.

Abstract

Studi ini fokus pada integrasi dan sinergi penalaran induktif dan deduktif sebagai dasar logistik untuk memperoleh dan memvalidasi pengetahuan, khususnya melalui lensa pemikiran pembaruan Islam oleh Harun Nasution. Di era informasi, keterampilan berpikir logistik sangatlah penting. Meskipun induksi dan deduksi sering dipandang terpisah, praktik ilmiah modern menunjukkan komplementaritas mereka. Harun Nasution, yang menjabat sebagai Rektor IAIN Jakarta (1974-1982), adalah tokoh kunci dalam memajukan pemikiran Islam rasional di Indonesia. Inisiatif pembaruannya berasal dari mengurung yang mendalam terhadap dua isu utama: dominasi teologi fatalistik (Asy'ariyah) dan kurikulum pendidikan Islam yang kaku dan terlalu fokus pada fikih (yurisprudensi Islam). Sebagai tanggapan, ia memprakarsai reformasi kurikulum yang komprehensif dan menghidupkan kembali Teologi Mu'tazilah, yang sangat menghargai akal. Pendekatan logistik Harun Nasution terhadap pengambilan keputusan adalah contoh ideal dari integrasi kedua metode penalaran: induksi dan deduksi. Perpaduan induksi dan deduksi ini menjadikan keputusan Harun Nasution logis, adaptif, dan relevan dengan modernitas. Hal ini menggarisbawahi pentingnya penafsiran induktif terhadap ajaran Islam yang deduktif.

Abstract

The development of social media has had a major impact on teenagers, not only as a means of communication and entertainment, but also in character building. Social media provides opportunities to broaden one's horizons and social networks, but on the other hand, it raises moral issues, such as a decline in language ethics, neglect of worship and study, and the emergence of deviant behavior and a consumptive lifestyle. This study examines the role of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) in responding to these dynamics and formulating strategies for character building among adolescents. Using a qualitative approach based on literature review, the results show that IRE serves as a moral fortress and a means of character building. The recommended strategies include strengthening the curriculum with Islamic digital literacy, pedagogical innovation by teachers, family and school involvement, and the use of creative technologies such as Islamic applications, gamification, and virtual mentoring. With the integration of these strategies, PAI can function as an adaptive educational instrument that strengthens youth morals.

Abstract

From an Islamic perspective, knowledge is understood as a map to truth that guides worship and builds civilisation. The Qur'an positions knowledge as a framework that combines rationality and the divine dimension, so that the process of seeking knowledge is always linked to devotion to God. The history of Islamic scholarship demonstrates methodological openness and creative dialogue with various scientific traditions, without losing sight of monotheism as its primary foundation. Islamic epistemology recognises revelation, reason, and the senses as three sources of knowledge that test, correct, and strengthen each other. The bayani, burhani, and irfani approaches are organised as complementary methods, thus giving rise to a paradigm of knowledge that is comprehensive, rational, and spiritual at the same time. Classical scholars such as Al-Farabi, Ibn Sina, and Al-Ghazali integrated rational and religious knowledge into a unified framework of thought. Axiologically, knowledge in Islam is oriented toward the benefit of God, with the etiquette of seeking knowledge emphasising the obligations of fardhu 'ain (obligatory duty) and fardhu kifayah (obligatory duty). In the context of Islamic religious universities in Indonesia, the integration of knowledge and religion has become a strategic agenda, particularly amid the disruptions of the digital era. Digital literacy, technological ethics, and the use of knowledge to uphold human dignity are essential pillars for the development of civilised education and technology. This research emphasises that knowledge is directed at developing faithful, knowledgeable, and noble individuals capable of responding to global challenges critically, creatively, humanely, and responsibly.

Abstract

Dunia pendidikan dan keilmuan Islam saat ini menghadapi tantangan serius berupa terjadinya dikotomi antara ilmu agama dan ilmu modern, yang berimplikasi pada lemahnya karakter epistemologis umat Islam dalam merespons perkembangan zaman. Ilmu modern cenderung bergerak tanpa dasar nilai ketuhanan, sementara tradisi keilmuan Islam stagnan dan kurang adaptif terhadap perubahan sosial. Kondisi ini mengakibatkan munculnya dualisme intelektual, ketidakseimbangan antara rasionalitas dan spiritualitas, serta kegagalan pendidikan Islam dalam melahirkan paradigma keilmuan yang menyeluruh. Artikel ini mengkaji pemikiran Ismail Raji al-Faruqi melalui studi kepustakaan terhadap karya primer dan telaah ilmiah kontemporer untuk melihat bagaimana konsep Islamization of Knowledge menawarkan solusi metodologis atas problem tersebut. Berbasis pada prinsip tauhid yang mengandung lima kesatuan fundamental dan dirumuskan melalui dua belas langkah operasional, al-Faruqi memberikan kerangka integratif untuk menyatukan kembali wahyu, akal, dan realitas empiris. Temuan penelitian menegaskan bahwa metodologi ilmu al-Faruqi merupakan proyek rekonstruksi peradaban yang relevan bagi pembaruan pendidikan Islam, pengembangan riset interdisipliner, serta transformasi epistemologi modern menuju arah yang lebih humanistik dan transformatif.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of Qur'anic teaching methods into modern educational frameworks, focusing on holistic student development. The research addresses the limitations of traditional educational practices that primarily emphasize intellectual skills, overlooking emotional, spiritual, and participatory growth. By applying thematic exegesis (tafsir mawdhu’i), this study synthesizes key Qur'anic principles hikmah (wisdom), mau’izhah hasanah (compassionate advice), and shura (consultation) and aligns them with contemporary pedagogical theories. The study utilizes a qualitative approach, employing literature review and thematic analysis to examine the application of these principles in fostering critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and collaborative learning. Findings reveal that integrating Qur'anic pedagogy into modern education enhances cognitive, emotional, and social development, contributing to the creation of more balanced and ethical learning environments. The study concludes that the incorporation of these Qur'anic methods provides a comprehensive framework for educators to cultivate well-rounded students capable of navigating modern educational and societal challenges. Recommendations include further research on the systematic application of these principles across diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

Muhammadiyah, sebagai salah satu gerakan Islam modernis terbesar di Indonesia, terus menunjukkan resiliensi dan kapasitas adaptasi yang luar biasa dalam menghadapi dinamika zaman. Jurnal ini menganalisis perkembangan historis dan tantangan kontemporer yang dihadapi Muhammadiyah selama periode terkini, dengan fokus pada evolusi strategi dakwah, aplikasi prinsip tajdid (pembaruan), serta perannya dalam dialog lintas iman dan aktivisme sosial. Menggunakan metode studi literatur kualitatif terhadap artikel-artikel ilmiah terindeks Scopus, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa Muhammadiyah secara strategis telah memperluas cakupan dakwahnya dari ranah purifikasi teologis ke isu-isu sosial-ekologis, seperti keadilan lingkungan dan multikulturalisme. Prinsip tajdid tidak hanya diwujudkan melalui reformasi pemikiran, tetapi juga diejawantahkan dalam pendirian institusi pendidikan modern yang mengintegrasikan sains dan agama. Di tingkat nasional dan global, Muhammadiyah memainkan peran krusial sebagai agen Islam moderat (Wasathiyah), mempromosikan dialog antaragama dan terlibat aktif dalam diplomasi perdamaian. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa kemampuan Muhammadiyah untuk menavigasi kompleksitas modernitas sambil tetap berpegang pada prinsip dasarnya menjadikannya model penting bagi organisasi Islam di seluruh dunia dalam menjawab tantangan abad ke-21.

Abstract

Generation Z is now facing a paradox in lifelong learning activities. While they have access to a wealth of information, they are also surrounded by the threat of hoaxes and the uncertainty surrounding scientific authority due to the dominance of influencers. It has been proven that relying solely on technical digital literacy skills is insufficient to solve this fundamental problem. This study offers a solution: re-examining the values of Islamic education (tarbawi) in the Qur'an and Hadith as a foundation of knowledge for the digital generation. Using a qualitative approach based on a literature study, this research thoroughly analyses QS. Al-Hujurat: 6 and QS. An-Nahl: 43. This analysis uses a thematic and analytical approach, referring to Tafsir Al-Mishbah by M. Quraish Shihab and supporting Hadith literature. The results of the study show that: (1) tabayyun is not only about checking facts; it is also a behavioural approach that encourages restraint on social media, and (2) the synergy between the concept of ahl al-dzikr and the principle of sanad results in digital sanad logic: a method of assessing the veracity of knowledge based on the credibility of the expert rather than its popularity. The study concludes that integrating these two values is crucial in providing Generation Z with an internal filter to help them grow into critical and original learners.

Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the concepts of systematic and radical curricula and their relevance to the development of Islamic Religious Education (PAI). Using qualitative methods with a library study approach, this study examines various literature on curriculum theory, critical education, and PAI development. The results of the study indicate that systematic consistency in learning planning is structured, tiered, and focused on measurable objectives. This model is relevant for PAI because it can ensure material continuity, clarity of learning objectives, and evaluation that covers cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. In contrast, the radical curriculum is omitted in critical education, which positions students as active subjects, encourages dialogue, reflection, and contextual reading of social reality. In the context of PAI, the radical approach contributes to the formation of critical awareness, moderate attitudes, and students' ability to actualize Islamic values ​​​​relevant to the challenges of the times. This study concludes that both models have different characteristics and strengths but complement each other. The integration of systematic and radical curricula is seen as an ideal strategy for building a PAI curriculum that is strong in value, adaptive, critical, and oriented towards strengthening students' character.

Abstract

This study discusses the urgency of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum innovation in facing the challenges of technological development and social change in the 21st century. The PAI curriculum, as an important component of Islamic education, is required to be adaptive, relevant, and able to answer the needs of students in the digital era. This study uses a literature review method through an analysis of various literature related to curriculum, educational innovation, and PAI development. The results of the study indicate that curriculum innovation is needed to increase the relevance of PAI materials to contemporary issues such as digital literacy, technology ethics, religious moderation, and modern socio-religious problems. In addition, innovation is needed to develop 21st-century competencies, strengthen the internalization of values ​​and morals, and accommodate the diversity of student learning styles. An innovative PAI curriculum also requires increased teacher competency as facilitators and spiritual guides. Thus, PAI curriculum innovation is a strategic step to ensure that Islamic education remains contextual, transformative, and capable of shaping a generation with superior character amidst the dynamics of the times.
