Religiosity refers to the extent of insight and knowledge one has about their religion, the strength of their belief in carrying out worship and following rules, and the depth of their absorption in their faith. Religiosity can be classified into several dimensions. According to Stark and Glock, these dimensions are divided into five categories: Religious Belief (The Ideological Dimension), Religious Practice (The Ritualistic Dimension), Religious Feeling (The Experiential Dimension), Religious Knowledge (The Intellectual Dimension), and Religious Effect (The Consequential Dimension). This research was conducted to provide an overview of religiosity as depicted in a literary work, a subject that has previously been rarely explored. The approach used in this study is a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out using two techniques: the reading and note-taking technique and a questionnaire. The total number of religiosity dimensions analyzed in this study is 30, drawn from 15 poetry titles. The data reveal that the percentage distribution of religiosity dimensions is as follows: 53% for the belief dimension, 33% for the worship dimension, 10% for the knowledge dimension, 3% for the practice dimension, and 0% for the appreciation dimension. The findings of this study conclude that the belief dimension is the most dominant dimension in the poetry collection ‘Perang Pecah Lagi di Gaza’. Additionally, the study highlights the students' low understanding of exploration activities related to religiosity and its various dimensions.

Abstract

Reading is regarded as an essential activity in language learning, providing a valuable source of information, an exciting activity, a tool of communication, and a way to enhance one's knowledge. Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) is implemented in reading classes to enhance students' reading comprehension. The present study aimed to find out the correlation between students’ perceptions of Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) projects and their reading achievement. The participants of the study were 165 students of the second semester batch 2022/2023 taking a Reading Course in one of public universities in East Java Indonesia. The current study employed correlational design and the data were collected through a questionnaire consisting of four dimensions with 20 items adapted from Fan (2010). The dimensions were students’ general perceptions of CSR instruction, perceptions of implementation procedures of CSR, and views on their learning attitudes in CSR. The data on the students’ reading achievement were obtained through their TOEIC reading test, CSR project, midterm test, and final test scores. The data taken from students' perceptions of CSR and reading achievement were analyzed through Pearson Correlation coefficient. The result shows that the correlation between students’ perceptions of CSR and their reading achievement are highly significant. CSR encourages students to get involved actively in reading activities and increase their critical thinking to comprehend texts. Such experiences are beneficial for them which affect their perceptions of CSR towards their reading achievement.

Abstract

Large body of researches has been consistently linked L2 motivation to L2WTC, indicating a significant positive correlation between the two. Yet, the influence of teacher-student relationships on this correlation remains understudied. This research investigates how teacher-student relationships influences the correlation between L2 motivation and L2WTC, as well as to investigate the variations in this influence across varying qualities of teacher-student relationships. Utilizing established scales, questionnaires were distributed to the entire population of SMP Negeri 51 Surabaya, resulting in 222 responses for analysis. Moderation analysis via regression analysis was employed to analyse the data. The findings showed that teacher-student relationships do not significantly moderate the correlation between students' L2 motivation and their L2WTC, nor do they significantly differ in influence across varying qualities. Although statistical significance was not achieved at the conventional threshold, the study hints the potential significance of teacher-student relationships in sustaining L2WTC, particularly in contexts where L2 motivation may be lacking. Thus, while not meeting statistical significance at conventional thresholds, the results underscore the importance of fostering positive teacher-student relationships in language learning contexts.

The study found 15% of the aesthetic sense, 21% of the sociological sense, 31% of the semantic sense, and 33% of the pragmatic sense. The results show that the highest percentage is the presence of pragmatic sense, while the least is aesthetic sense.
