Abstract

This community service activity is focused on socializing and training village residents in creating a vertical hydroponic system as a means of improving economic conditions in Ketapang Kuning village. This initiative addresses the problem of limited land and agricultural resources, which hinder local economic development. The main aim is to improve the economy through the introduction of innovative and land-saving agricultural techniques, namely vertical hydroponics, which are expected to provide a sustainable source of income and increase food security for the community. This approach involves holding workshops and hands-on training sessions to educate village residents about the principles and practices of vertical hydroponics. In this community service activity, the team from Unwaha trained village residents, especially PKK women, about vertical hydroponics using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, which allows participants to create their own hydroponic systems with guidance from experts. The results show an increase in the understanding of participants who are housewives from Ketapangkuning village regarding how to make vertical hydroponics in a simple way. Apart from that, participants also increasingly understand the importance of the role of housewives in improving the family's economic level through alternative sources of income.  During the mentoring period, participants have also succeeded in implementing a hydroponic system in their homes. This initiative not only meets immediate economic needs but also empowers communities with skills and knowledge for long-term independence.

Abstract

One of the programs to handle waste problems is through the 3R program, namely reduce or reduce the amount of waste, recyle or recycle waste, and reuse or reuse waste. Processing waste into hydroponic planting media can reduce the amount of waste while utilizing it to grow organic vegetables with economic value. This activity was attended by 15 youths of Kudubanjar Village youth organization. The activity was divided into two stages, namely socialization and practice. The socialization stage was carried out using lecture and discussion methods. Next is the practice of making hydroponic planting media. This activity provides additional insight and knowledge as well as skills to the community, especially youth groups related to processing used bottle waste as hydroponic planting media. This activity also provides community knowledge about one of the ways to process used bottle waste that is useful.

Abstract

This activity aims to increase the awareness of the Tapen Village community regarding the importance of using water hyacinth plants as raw materials for making organic fertilizer, which is an innovative solution that not only helps overcome environmental problems, but also provides economic benefits. The approach method used for the community in Tapen village is the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method. This method is a research method carried out in a participatory manner between Farmer Groups to encourage the implementation of previously planned programs. This socialization activity was carried out through discussions in the form of providing materials and questions and answers regarding the importance of processing and using water hyacinth as a basic ingredient for liquid organic fertilizer. The results obtained from this activity are able to increase the knowledge and skills of the participants, especially farmer groups, village officials and Tapen Village youth in processing water hyacinth into liquid organic fertilizer. This output is very important because it empowers communities to utilize the natural resources around them, as well as reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers.

Abstract

Domestic waste is one of the largest contributors of waste to the environment. The side effects of improper waste processing are environmental contamination. Public awareness of the impact for domestic waste management must be emphasized. This program was conducted with the farmer association of Bangsring, Banyuwangi Regency. The purpose of this program is to encourage local community awareness of environmental sustainability and provide knowledge of the importance of utilizing and processing domestic waste into Eco-Enzyme. This program is implemented through several main stages that refer to the indicators of the success of the community service program, namely: (1) survey to obtain problems and determine problem solving; (2) socialization; (3) training of eco-enzyme production; (4) monitoring and evaluation. The training of eco-enzyme production in Bangsring was successfully implemented, and the community has responded well to it. This is evidenced by the enthusiasm of the participants during discussions and practices of producing eco-enzyme, all the way through to harvesting the eco-enzyme's output and implementing it.

Abstract

This community service is part of a professional internship program that focuses on product diversification strategies as an effort to increase sales, improve competitiveness, and the sustainability of the dairy business at Rembangan Dairy Farm, Jember. The primary issues addressed include limited variety in processed milk products and suboptimal marketing strategies, which affect product quality consistency and market expansion. The objectives of this initiative are to analyze the effectiveness of product diversification strategies, identify internal and external factors influencing these strategies, and formulate development recommendations by designing a more adaptive business model using the Business Model Canvas (BMC). The methods employed include direct observation, interviews with stakeholders, and hands-on participation in operational activities such as livestock care, milk processing, and interviews during a 45-day internship at the UPT Pembibitan Ternak dan Hijauan Pakan Ternak Rembangan. The results demonstrate that product diversification, including flavored milk, milk pudding, and cheesecuit, successfully increased consumer appeal and product value. The BMC analysis mapped nine key business elements and provided a foundation for more structured strategic recommendations. This program offers strategic recommendations for the sustainable development of the dairy agroindustry.

Abstract

Ploso sub-district is part of the Jombang district, which has potential in the agricultural sector. Currently, in the Ploso sub-district, there is a problem in the form of slowing farmer regeneration. The younger generation is not very interested in the agricultural sector. This phenomenon can be seen from the number of farmer household heads in Ploso Sub-district, which is the lowest in Jombang District. This needs to be done to increase the interest of the younger generation in the agricultural sector. The methods used in this community service are presentations and direct interviews. The results obtained show that most students at MA Nizhamiyah Ploso hold the view that agriculture is limited to planting crops on land. After socialization, the majority of students are of the view that the agricultural sector can also generate profits if managed properly. They also have an interest in the farming sector

Abstract

Food security remains a critical challenge in rural communities with limited land resources. This community service program aimed to enhance household food independence in Plosokerep Village, Jombang, through the integration of mini gardens, organic horticulture education, and environmentally friendly technology. The program applied a participatory action research approach involving 60 households and three educational institutions. Activities included the distribution of vegetable seedlings, training on organic fertilizer and botanical pesticide production, and the establishment of demonstration gardens. Pre- and post-tests were conducted to measure knowledge improvement, while field observations assessed adoption rates and sustainability potential. Results showed a 71.9% increase in participants’ knowledge, a 92% plant survival rate, and the formation of informal farmer groups. The program also reduced household organic waste by 25% and pesticide use by 70%. These findings indicate that simple, community-based agricultural interventions can significantly improve food security, environmental awareness, and social cohesion, and can be replicated in other areas with similar conditions.

Here the service executor acts as a facilitator and guide for the target group to jointly carry out the activities that have been planned. The method used is through training, demonstrating the manufacture of medicinal plant cultivation. The conclusion of community service activities, with cultivation training can increase knowledge and use of Toga for stunting prevention. Toga plants are used to increase appetite. The availability of toga plants in residents' homes can prevent stunting as early as possible and increase nutritional intake in the first 1000 days of a child's life.
