Abstract

In facing business competition in the digital economy era, the digitalization of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has become a primary necessity. By participating in technology-based entrepreneurial activities, students have significant opportunities to act as agents of change. This study aims to explore how student entrepreneurship contributes to the development of digital-based MSMEs. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach, including observation, interviews, and literature review. The findings indicate that student entrepreneurship supports product innovation, digital marketing, the use of social media and marketplaces, and the improvement of MSME actors’ digital literacy. Consequently, these contributions enhance competitiveness and expand market reach for MSMEs. However, challenges remain, such as limited resources and the readiness of MSME actors to adopt digital

Abstract

The limited availability of formal employment has become a serious challenge for university students in determining their future career paths. This condition encourages students to consider entrepreneurship as an alternative and promising career option. This study aims to explore students’ perspectives on entrepreneurship as a career choice amid the scarcity of open job opportunities, as well as to identify the factors influencing entrepreneurial interest. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through semi-structured interviews involving students who have taken entrepreneurship courses or shown an interest in entrepreneurial activities. The findings indicate that students perceive entrepreneurship as an opportunity to achieve economic independence, develop creativity, and create new job opportunities. However, entrepreneurship is also viewed as a career path with high risks, requiring sufficient capital and experience. Internal, external, and educational factors play significant roles in shaping students’ entrepreneurial interests. With supportive entrepreneurial education and a conducive environment, entrepreneurship has the potential to become a long-term solution for reducing educated unemployment and enhancing youth participation in economic development.

Abstract

Women’s political participation constitutes a fundamental indicator of inclusive and gender-equitable democracy. Although Law Number 7 of 2017 on General Elections mandates that political parties allocate at least 30% of legislative candidacies to women, local political dynamics continue to reveal a persistent gap between descriptive and substantive representation. This study examines the strategies and challenges of the Gerindra Party in Bandung City in enhancing women’s political representation in the 2024 Election. This research employs a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, drawing on in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis. The analytical framework integrates Hanna Pitkin’s theory of political representation and Anne Phillips’ concept of the politics of presence. The findings demonstrate a substantial increase in women’s descriptive representation within the Gerindra faction of the Bandung City Council, rising from 12.5% (2019–2024) to 42.9% (2024–2029). Despite this quantitative progress, substantive representation remains constrained by structural and cultural barriers, including entrenched patriarchal norms, unequal access to political resources, and limited leadership development opportunities. The study concludes that numerical gains in representation must be accompanied by institutionalized empowerment mechanisms to ensure meaningful political influence. Transforming the politics of presence into the politics of influence requires sustained party reform, systematic cadre development, and the cultivation of a gender-inclusive political culture.

Abstract

The 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) in Pesisir Barat Regency reveals a gap between the relatively balanced parliamentary support of the candidate pairs and the final vote results. Despite similar levels of party backing, the election outcomes show significant differences in vote result, raising questions about the role of political communication strategies in influencing voter preferences. This study aims to analyze the political communication strategy implemented by the campaign team of Dedi Irawan and Irawan Topani in navigating the competition of the 2024 Pesisir Barat Pilkada. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The data consist of primary and secondary sources. Primary data were obtained through in-depth interviews with the Secretary of the Dedi & Topani Campaign Team, members of rival campaign teams, and election organizers. Secondary data were collected from official KPU documents, election regulations, and relevant literature on political strategy and communication. The findings indicate that the political communication strategy of the Dedi & Topani campaign team was not rigidly based on initial planning but evolved dynamically in response to field conditions. Within the framework of strategy as plan, the team conducted mapping of political strengths, vote distribution areas, and potential threats down to the polling station level as the basis for field operations. Through strategy as ploy and strategy as pattern, the team managed issues related to bureaucratic neutrality, clarified public perceptions regarding social assistance programs, and implemented repetitive face-to-face campaign activities. In terms of strategy as position, Dedi & Topani were framed as symbols of change, with a particular focus on young voters. Meanwhile, strategy as perspective was reflected in the team’s internal worldview that interpreted political competition as an opportunity to build public awareness of the need for change. This communication strategy has led to increased political understanding among some members of the community, although regional election outcomes are often influenced by local power dynamics, political resources, and a pragmatic political culture.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the regional planning of the Barelang Bridge development in supporting regional growth in Batam City. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method involving 20 respondents through a five-point Likert scale questionnaire consisting of 12 indicators. Data were analyzed using mean scores, variance analysis, Cronbach’s Alpha reliability test, and SWOT analysis to identify internal and external factors. The findings indicate that public perception of the Barelang Bridge is generally positive, with mean scores ranging from 3.65 to 4.10. The bridge significantly enhances inter-regional connectivity, improves mobility of goods and services, stimulates economic growth, and creates development opportunities in Rempang and Galang areas. The reliability test resulted in a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.9744, indicating excellent internal consistency. SWOT analysis reveals that strategic geographical location and government support constitute major strengths, while development disparities and limited supporting infrastructure remain key weaknesses. Industrial and tourism development opportunities are substantial; however, social conflicts and environmental degradation pose potential threats. Therefore, sustainable, participatory, and integrated regional planning strategies are required to optimize equitable development outcomes.
