Abstract

Abstract

The creation of scientific works is inseparable from the activities of searching, processing, and citing existing information. Mistakes in obtaining information or citing from literary sources will result in significant problems. Accusations of plagiarism and even legal action can be taken against individuals who produce scientific articles with the label of plagiarism. The writing methods or the use of citation management tools are still not optimal in reducing the level of plagiarism. The knowledge and awareness of writers about the importance of preserving and respecting the works of others become crucial to understand. Training becomes an effective solution to enhance the knowledge and awareness of writers about the importance of preserving and respecting the works of others, which are intellectual properties. The method used in the training involved lectures and discussions, integrating the material into the Information Technology Ethics, Regulation, and Cyber Law course. After the community service activities were conducted, it can be concluded that 79% of students felt an increase in knowledge regarding the dangers and importance of avoiding plagiarism, and the community service activities were effective in providing education and understanding to the students.

Abstract

Nowadays, the function of language as a means of conveying messages to establish social interaction is somewhat neglected. Language is no longer a message, but has changed into a sentiment. This is represented in the form of hate speech and bullying that often occurs on social media by violating the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE). The purpose of this community service activity is to increase knowledge and skills about the form of hate speech and bullying texts in Indonesian language literacy for students and also knowledge about the right procedures or strategies to avoid hate speech and verbal bullying by others. In this training, two methods were applied, namely practice and simulation. The results of the community service activities showed that students experienced a significant increase in Indonesian language literacy to avoid hate speech and bullying. Before the delivery of the material, students scored 4,594. However, after the delivery of the material, there was an increase in student scores, namely 4,640. This increase illustrates the effectiveness of the activity program. Students experienced significant progress in terms of understanding or skills as measured by pretest and posttest.

Abstract

At the vocational high school level in Indonesia, English language teaching is still general with minimal ESP additions, so it is not enough to equip students to be able to communicate using English according to their future field of work. English material in Health Vocational High Schools is less focused on the specific needs of the health sector. The lack of variety of fun learning activities makes students less interested and motivated to learn English, especially related to health terms. Therefore, innovative and comprehensive learning is needed with materials that are appropriate for the needs of students as prospective nursing assistants. One of them is by utilizing crossword puzzle games and yes/no questions. The programs that have been implemented have proven effective in increasing students' interest in learning and their understanding of vocabulary related to body parts and health problems. This shows that a fun and interactive approach can be a good solution in learning English in Health Vocational High Schools.

Abstract

This mentoring aims to see the implementation of Drumband Extracurricular activities towards improving non-academic competencies of students at SMPN 1 Pariaman. Drumband Extracurricular Activities at SMPN 1 Pariaman focus on the technical aspects of playing music, training students to master musical instruments such as snare drums, bass drums, tom-toms, pianicas, and cymbals. Practices are carried out routinely to prepare them to perform at school events and competitions. However, this activity emphasizes individual and team musical abilities without linking them to social activities or community service. Although students are skilled, they do not have structured opportunities to apply social roles through music, and the emphasis is more on technical achievements than on developing social character. This mentoring uses the Service Learning method. The results of the mentoring show that student involvement in Drumband Extracurricular activities provides a positive contribution to the development of soft skills, such as discipline, teamwork, creativity, and self-confidence. Thus, Drumband activities not only provide technical musical skills, but also improve non-academic competencies that are important for student development.

Abstract

In the use of radiation, attention must be paid to radiation safety. Radiation safety is carried out to protect workers, community members, and the environment from radiation hazards (BAPETEN, 2013). The PkM team will provide counseling related to the application of radiation protection that needs to be known and carried out while in the X-ray radiation source area. The method that will be carried out by the PkM team is to provide pre-test, counseling and post test. The results of the implementation of community service activities show that residents have understood the counseling material provided. This is shown by the increase in knowledge after counseling on radiation hazards, radiation protection and the application of personal protective equipment for radiological examinations. According to Manurung (2018), the better the knowledge that individuals have, the better the perception of the dangers of x-ray radiation.
