Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease caused by dengue virus infection transmitted through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. This disease has clinical manifestations of bleeding, which can lead to shock and death. Controlling DHF has become a national priority due to the increasing spread of the disease and the frequent occurrence of outbreaks. Delayed treatment is often a major cause of the high mortality rate. Therefore, preventive efforts are crucial to reducing the incidence of DHF. This study aims to determine the influence of the Larvae-Free Index (LFI) on the incidence of DHF in the working area of the UPTD Puskesmas Juanda. The research population includes residents of RT in Air Hitam and Gunung Kelua subdistricts affected by DHF, with a total sample of 99 respondents. The study employed a survey method using questionnaires and a cross-sectional research design. Data analysis using Fisher's Exact test showed a significant correlation between LFI values and DHF cases (p-value = 0.04). These findings indicate that increasing LFI can contribute to reducing the incidence of DHF. This study highlights the importance of implementing mosquito breeding eradication programs (PSN) to improve LFI as a preventive measure in DHF control.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is a common physical disorder experienced by women during menstruation, characterized by pain or cramps in the lower abdomen that often radiate to the thighs and lower back. Approximately 50% of women worldwide experience dysmenorrhea, with a prevalence reaching 90% according to WHO data, where 11-15% suffer from severe dysmenorrhea. This study aims to examine the effect of consuming temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza) and ginger herbal drinks on reducing menstrual pain in adolescent girls at UPT Puskesmas Tirtayasa, Serang-Banten, in 2024. The research employs a case study design, using primary data obtained through observation. The study compares the effects of temulawak herbal drink on reducing menstrual pain in adolescent girls with those given ginger herbal drink. The sample consists of two adolescent girls experiencing menstruation and menstrual pain. Interventions were conducted by comparing the administration of temulawak and ginger herbal drinks as non-pharmacological therapies. Data were collected using observation sheets and analyzed descriptively. The findings, gathered through observation sheets, indicate that non-pharmacological therapy in the form of consuming ginger and temulawak herbal drinks, combined with interventions using both types of herbal drinks, effectively reduces the intensity of menstrual pain in adolescent girls. Those who consumed a combination of ginger and temulawak herbal drinks experienced a significant reduction in the intensity of menstrual pain.

Abstract

Data from the Indonesian Health Profile in 2022 shows that 41,081 cases of typhoid and paratyphoid fever sufferers were hospitalized in hospitals with a death rate of 279 cases (Ministry of Health, 2022). Several factors play a role in the incidence of typhoid fever, including: environmental factors, knowledge, attitudes and actions. According to the Ministry of Health in 2022, feces disposal, clean water facilities, food sanitation, personal hygiene, the habit of snacking or eating outside the home, as well as a history of typhoid fever in the family is a factor that is thought to be involved in the incidence of typhoid fever. The population in this study were all children aged 5 to 14 years who were diagnosed with typhoid fever and treated in the pediatric ward from January to June 2024, totaling 67 cases. A sample is a part of a population that has certain characteristics or conditions to be studied. The sampling technique used in this research was Total Sampling, namely the entire population was used as a sample, namely 67 cases. This research is analytical with a cross sectional design with data processing methods using Editing, Coding, Tabulating and Entry. The results of the chi-square statistical test between knowledge and the incidence of Typhoid Fever in children obtained a p value (0.002) < α (0.05), meaning that H0 was rejected, and Ha, accepted, so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between knowledge and the incidence of Typhoid Fever. at Dr. Hospital. Fauziah. It is hoped that Dr. Fauziah Bireuen Regency As a measure to prevent typhoid fever in children, Dr. Hospital. Fauziah Bireuen Regency was advised to improve health education programs for parents about the importance of sanitation, food hygiene and vaccination.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to explore and delve deeper into the reasons families request passive euthanasia, the illnesses and conditions that lead individuals to consider such actions, and how the principle of patient autonomy is applied in euthanasia practices at KH. Daud Arif Regional General Hospital, Kuala Tungkal. The research employs a qualitative approach through literature review studies. Data were collected from journals, books, and previous studies, focusing on the withdrawal of life-support measures and the ethical principle of autonomy. The collected information was analyzed to support the research. Based on the findings, decisions regarding euthanasia, particularly passive euthanasia, should ideally be made by patients when they are mentally capable. However, in critical conditions where the patient is incapacitated, the responsibility is transferred to the patient's family, who can make decisions on their behalf, including opting for passive euthanasia. While active euthanasia remains illegal in Indonesia, passive euthanasia, such as the cessation of life-support interventions, is permitted under certain legal frameworks, such as Ministry of Health Regulation No. 37 of 2014. This regulation also emphasizes the importance of therapeutic contracts between patients and healthcare providers. The reasons families or patients choose passive euthanasia at KH. Daud Arif Regional General Hospital, Kuala Tungkal, include prolonged physical suffering and a significant decline in quality of life. The illnesses or conditions considered for passive euthanasia include chronic, incurable diseases that cause ongoing suffering, such as heart disease, kidney failure, or illnesses with poor prognoses.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Community Empowerment program through the peer education method in preventing child marriage among adolescents in Mimika Regency. The research employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental study design. The population consists of adolescents aged 15-18 years in Mimika Regency. A purposive sampling technique was used to select 65 respondents who participated in the community empowerment program through peer education for three months. The program's impact was assessed by measuring changes in adolescents' knowledge, attitudes, and intentions to delay marriage. The study found that the mean knowledge score about child marriage increased from 31.20 before the intervention to 39.28 after the intervention. The statistical analysis showed a significant effect (p-value = 0.000, α < 0.05). The study is limited to a small sample size within Mimika Regency, which may affect the generalizability of the findings. Furthermore, the quasi-experimental design lacks a control group, which could influence the robustness of the conclusions. This research contributes to public health and adolescent development studies by highlighting the potential of peer education as an effective method to improve knowledge regarding the prevention of child marriage. The findings provide a framework for policymakers and community organizations aiming to reduce child marriage rates in similar regions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of housing density, contact history with pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) patients, and BCG immunization history on the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis among the productive age group at the Sriwini Community Health Center, Nabire Regency, Central Papua Province, in 2024. This research employs an analytical case-control study design. Data were collected through interviews and medical records of pulmonary TB patients at the community health center. The analysis results indicate that housing density does not have a significant effect on the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis (P-Value = 1.000), and there is no significant effect of contact history with positive TB patients on pulmonary TB incidence (P-Value = 0.350). However, BCG immunization history was found to have a significant effect on the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis (P-Value = 0.000). The study concludes that while housing density and contact history do not significantly affect the incidence, BCG immunization history plays an important role in preventing pulmonary tuberculosis among the productive age group in the region. The data collection method relies on interviews and medical records, which depend on the accuracy of information provided by respondents and the quality of medical documentation, potentially leading to information bias. This study contributes to reproductive health knowledge and serves as a reference for preventing and addressing TB health issues in the productive age group.

Abstract

According to WHO in 2021, only 42% of countries provided exclusive breastfeeding from the target of 75%. In Lampung Province, there was a decrease in coverage of infants less than 6 months receiving exclusive breastfeeding from 76.76% in 2022 to 76.20%. Breastfeeding failure is often caused by several problems, one of which is insufficient milk production. Non-pharmacological methods to increase milk production are oxytocin massage and breast care. Oxytocin massage functions to stimulate the oxytocin reflex, calming the mother, so that breast milk flows naturally, while breast care is an action to care for the breasts, especially to facilitate breastfeeding. The research aim was to determine the effect of combining oxytocin massage and breast care on breast milk adequacy in postpartum mothers. The research method was pre-experimental using a one-group pre-posttest design approach by providing oxytocin massage intervention. It was given to postpartum mothers on days 5-9 twice daily, morning and evening. The population in this study was 42 breastfeeding postpartum mothers. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a sample size of 20 postpartum mothers. Indicators of breast milk adequacy were seen from urination frequency, feeding frequency, and changes in baby's weight. This research was conducted in the Poncowati Health Center Area, Central Lampung Regency in 2024. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test (for urination and feeding frequency) and Paired Sample Test (for baby's weight changes). Research results showed the average baby feeding frequency before was 7 times and after was 10 times, baby urination frequency before was 6 times and after was 8 times, baby weight before was 3094 grams and after was 3301.5 grams. The conclusion with p-values for feeding 0.000 (<0.05), baby urination 0.000 (<0.05), and baby weight 0.000 (<0.05) means there is an effect of combining oxytocin massage and breast care on breast milk adequacy in postpartum mothers. The research suggests that postpartum mothers can perform a combination of oxytocin massage and breast care as therapy to increase milk production.

Abstract

Nutritional and immunity issues in the elderly are important issues that require serious attention, considering that as age increases, physiological changes occur that affect the nutritional status, health, and quality of life of the elderly. Factors such as reduced consumption of nutritious foods, decreased physical activity, and other health problems can increase the risk of malnutrition in the elderly. Figs ( Ficus carica ), which have long been known in traditional medicine, have been shown to have many health benefits, especially in improving the nutritional status and immunity of the elderly. The content of polyphenols, flavonoids, tannins , and other antioxidant compounds in figs has the ability to reduce oxidative stress, lower cholesterol levels, and increase endurance. Therefore, fig supplementation can be a good choice to support the health of the elderly, both in maintaining balanced nutrition and improving the body's immune system. Thus, figs are not only useful as a source of additional nutrition, but can also play a role in preventing or reducing various health problems that are often experienced by the elderly. As a medicinal plant, figs offer a more natural and economical alternative in supporting the welfare of the elderly, especially in improving the quality of life of those who are getting older.
