Abstract

The use of banana hump flour as a raw material for making biodegradable plastic is an alternative to using banana starch plastic in an effort to reduce plastic waste. Bananas contain 66% carbohydrates, protein, water and essential minerals . To get biodegradable plastic, starch is added along with CMC (carboxy methylcellulose), glycerol and citronella oil as anti-bacterial and antioxidant. In this research, a research was conducted on the manufacture of biodegradable plastic mixture of starch, carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC), glycerol as a plasticizer and citronella oil by modifying CMC, glycerol and citronella oil. This study includes two variables, namely fixed variables and variable variables. Fixed variables include starch concentration with water 1:5, stirring speed 100 rpm and starch gelatinization temperature 70oC, while variables including CMC concentration include levels (5.5; 6.5 ; and 7.5) % (w/w), Citronella oil concentrations included (15; 20; and 25) % (w/v), and glycerol concentrations included (25; 35; and 45)% (w/v). This study aims to determine the effect of adding CMC citronella oil and glycerol as a plasticizer to the mechanical properties, morphology, and biodegradability tests , as well as the antioxidant activity of the resulting plastic . The results of this study indicate that biodegradable plastic has a tensile strength value of 0.210.38 kgf/mm2; elongation value between 16.3-54.20%; Morphological examination showed that the surface of the plastic was smooth and the plastic completely decomposed in the soil within 27 days. Abstract

This study aims to see the effect of coaching, supervision and actions given by Banda Aceh junior high school canteen managers on the hygiene and sanitation of the school canteen. A canteen with a low hygiene standard in its physical condition, its raw material for food, food processing and food presentation, can give negative impacts on a child’s health, growth, cognitive development, and nutritional status, which will eventually affect their academic achievement. This research, conducted from 2 to 5th of August 2017, is an analytical survey research with a cross-sectional design. Based on the results of statistical tests using chi-square technique, a positive and significant correlation was found between the canteen manager’s coaching and the canteen’s hygiene and sanitation (p-value = 0.001 0.05), particularly between the supervision, hygiene and sanitation variables (p-value = 0.001 0.05). There is also a strong and significant relationship between the level of canteen maintenance and the canteen’s hygiene and sanitation (p-value = 0.002 0.05). The canteen staff are reported to have complied with the applicable regulations and applied the knowledge they have about the standard hygiene and sanitation. They reported that they regularly maintain personal hygiene when processing the food by washing their hands and keep their work equipment clean. Besides, they maintain the cleanliness of the canteens by throwing waste into the dumping area when the bin is full, and by keeping food and kitchen wares clean. Keywords: Hygiene, Sanitation, Canteen

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of blended learning on students' learning motivation at primary schools. The method used was descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The study was carried out by observing the blended learning process in the class without making changes to the observed class. The population in this study was all fourth graders, totaling 61 students. The research samples were all students of Class IVA, totaling 30 students. Blended learning was employed in this class. Questionnaires were distributed to the students who participated in blended learning to collect the research data. There were four indicators in the motivation questionnaire, namely persistence, tenacity in the face of difficulties, interest in learning, and confidence. The data from the questionnaires were then analyzed using a Likert scale. The results by the average indicator show that the student learning motivation is 94, which belongs to a very high category. The average value of each indicator is the persistence indicator scoring 97; the tenacity indicator in the face of difficulties is 90; the interest in learning indicator is 96; and the confidence indicator is 95. The results of the overall questionnaire analysis belong to the high category. Thus, it can be concluded that blended learning is effective in increasing the students' learning motivation at SDN 1 Lambheu, District of Aceh Besar. As blended learning provides opportunities for students to learn independently, the students can study anywhere and broaden their horizons by accessing the learning resources globally. Abstract

This study aims to analyse a warm mix of asphalt with the addition of asbuton to measure theoptimum grain content of asbuton. The research was conducted with 3% asbuton content, variationsin asphalt content of 5%,5.5%,6%, 6.5%,7%. AC-WC mix type uses 60/70 penetration using theMarshall method. The results showed that 5% asphalt content showed a lower level of stability1307.84 kg and a higher level of stability 1649.76 kg with an asphalt content of 6.5%. Correction rateof stability ≥800 kg. While the variation of AC-WC warm asphalt mixture with the addition of butonhas an effect on the VIM value in the mixture. Parameters that do not meet the requirements of theVIM value are asphalt mixture content of 5% as much as 6.03% and 5.5% of 5.89% with a standardrange of asphalt content of 3.5-5.5%. The effect of warm asphalt mixture for AC-WC with theaddition of buton has a VMA value that meets the standard VMA value ≥15. This shows that thehigher the asphalt content, the higher the cavity in the asphalt mixture aggregate. The lowest flowvalue was at 7% asphalt content of 4.74 mm, while the lowest flow rate of 5% asphalt content was3.33 mm. The warm asphalt mixture for AC-WC with asbuton added material has an optimum asphaltcontent of 6.5%. Keywords: Asbuton, Asphalt Penetration 60/70,Marshall Test

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the learning outcomes using a mind mapping-based problem-based learning model to improve the ability to write narratives thematically with SPSS for Windows Version of the Standard 16.0 to find the N-gain value, normality of data distribution, test data homogeneity, and test research hypotheses. The normality test of the initial test of the two classes was normally distributed. The results of the homogeneity test of the initial test of the two classes were homogeneously distributed with sig. = 0.491>0.05, the average similarity test obtained a sig value of (2-tailed) = 0.538 > 0.05, which means that there is no differences before treatment, the test of the difference in the average N-gain of all students (control class with experimental class) obtained the Asymp Value. Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000, so Sig. (1-tailed) = 0.000//2 = 0.001. 0.001 < 0.05. So it can be concluded that students skill to write narratives thematically who received learning using the problem base learning method based on mind mapping was better than students who received conventional narrative learning as a whole.
