Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of character education in shaping the personalities of high school students in the digital era, particularly concerning the use of technology in learning. Employing a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach, the research involves 150 eleventh-grade students from three public schools in Pontianak. The research instruments include a questionnaire with 30 items measuring character values such as responsibility, integrity, and empathy; an interview guideline to obtain perspectives from students and teachers regarding the implementation of character education; and an observation sheet to record student behavior while using technology. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques to identify patterns in student behavior. The findings indicate that technology-based character education enhances students' awareness of social responsibility and integrity. However, 40% of students reported difficulties in effectively controlling their use of technology, which negatively impacts self discipline. The study concludes that character education is highly relevant in the digital era but requires more integrated strategies and better supervision to mitigate the negative impacts of technology. Schools are advised to adopt a proactive approach to digital supervision and integrate character values into the curriculum.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate pronunciation issues faced by students when learning Mandarin and to evaluate and understand the impact of the video dubbing media learning method on pronunciation. Through recording and testing methods, the author found that most students experience pronunciation problems and a lack of confidence when embodying characters in videos. This is particularly evident in mispronouncing the second tone as the fourth tone and the first tone as the third tone, with students struggling to express the emotions conveyed by characters in the videos. Additionally, there are issues with the pronunciation of initial consonants. Through a questionnaire survey, the author also discovered that the majority of students believe that the video dubbing media learning method can help them practice Mandarin better, remember Mandarin characters, improve pronunciation standards, make learning more interesting, and boost their confidence. In conclusion, students consider the video dubbing media learning method as an engaging and effective tool in enhancing their Mandarin pronunciation and daily language usage skills.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the limited support given to students in understanding the concept of trigonometry. This study aims to describe the potential of student learning trajectories at certain trigonometry angles. Qualitative research methods were used by archiving research objectives and with tests followed by interviews with six students of class XI IPA at SMA Negeri 3 Sanggau. After analyzing the data, it was revealed that the test results could not describe the potential of student learning trajectories. However, after following up with supporting interviews, it was revealed the potential trajectory of their learning about certain points of view. The achievement of exploring potential learning trajectories between students' cognitive structures through providing support in trigonometry special angle material can be seen in the following indicators. As much as 90% of the number of subjects, know the elements in trigonometry comparisons. 85% of the subjects were able to conclude and find trigonometry comparisons of special angles with the unit circle. 85% of the subjects were able to accurately find the values of the ratio of special angles using the unit circle, but were still constrained because the method used was new and had never been taught by subject teachers at school. As much as 90% of the number of subjects were enthusiastic in learning and actively participating during research because the material provided by researchers provided new experiences for students. This was found by researchers during the second interview. Suggestions that can be conveyed based on the results of this study, are that teachers and prospective teachers should be more creative in choosing learning models in applying learning trajectories to build potential student learning trajectories in an effort to increase cognitive knowledge in conceptual understanding of mathematics.
