Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of good governance implementation on enhancing educational quality at Vocational High School 3 Pare-Pare. This study employed a quantitative methodology with a descriptive design, whereby data were gathered through questionnaires and analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software. Validity tests were conducted to ensure the reliability of the data, and regression analysis was employed to identify the relationship between the independent variable (good governance implementation) and the dependent variable (education quality). The results indicated that 79 percent of the variation in educational quality could be attributed to implementing good governance, thereby demonstrating that good governance considerably influences enhancing academic quality. Nevertheless, the model could not account for 21 percent of the observed variation, indicating that additional factors may be at play. The findings support the proposition that implementing good governance principles, such as transparency, accountability, and participation, is a crucial element in the effective management of educational institutions. The practical implications of this study are that schools must enhance their enforcement of the law and their accountability and that all school components must be included in the planning and evaluation of programs. School principals are expected to establish specialized teams, such as TPMS, to guarantee uniform implementation. Nevertheless, this study is not without limitations. Firstly, the focus on a single school may limit the generalizability of the results. Secondly, further research is needed to explore other factors influencing education quality. Thirdly, this study provides a basis for developing better governance policies in the education sector.

Abstract

This research examines the effects of Law No. 6 of 2014 on Villages on the role and positioning of Padukuhan within the village framework, focusing on Pulokadang and Canden Sub-Villages in Kapanewon Jetis, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region Province. Through in-depth interviews with expert informants and document analysis, the study reveals several key findings. Firstly, it uncovers a lack of formal education or training for Padukuhan heads in local customs and culture, highlighting a need for cultural development initiatives in Bantul Regency. Furthermore, it identifies a limited scope of Padukuhan activities, primarily centered on management without adequate promotion of village potentials or addressing community issues. The study also notes community-driven efforts in constructing and operating Padukuhan facilities, supplemented by occasional political support through aspiration funds exchange for votes. These findings underscore the importance of enhancing Padukuhan functions within the village context post the enactment of Law No. 6 of 2014. By addressing gaps in cultural education, expanding the scope of Padukuhan activities to encompass community development, and establishing transparent mechanisms for political engagement, this research offers insights into optimizing the role of Padukuhan in local governance and community empowerment. This study contributes to the discourse on village governance and development in Indonesia, offering practical implications for policymakers and stakeholders seeking to leverage the potential of Padukuhan within the framework of Law No. 6 of 2014.

Abstract

This study examines the leadership style of the village head in managing digital-based services at the village office. Using both qualitative and quantitative methods, the research reveals that the village head's leadership style significantly impacts the effectiveness of digital services. Inclusive leadership, characterized by respect and acceptance, facilitates digital services but lacks delegation and centralized decision-making processes. However, charismatic leadership, characterized by respect and decision-making finesse, is praised for its ability to navigate complexity. The office workforce, particularly in delivering digital-based services, is effective and efficient, improving service quality and community satisfaction. High employee motivation drives quality service delivery, and the office's technological infrastructure, including a fast internet network, enhances service delivery processes. The study underscores the importance of considering leadership dynamics in village governments to optimize digitally oriented services. However, its generalizability is limited as it focuses on the village head's leadership style. Future research should explore the interaction between leadership style and other organizational determinants, such as staff competencies and technological infrastructure.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the regional regulation on smoke-free areas at MAS Darul Qalam Bulukumba and to identify the challenges in creating a smoke-free school environment. The research adopts a qualitative approach using a case study method to capture the complex phenomena related to the enforcement of smoke-free policies in an Islamic educational setting. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis with key informants such as the principal, teachers, staff, and students. The findings reveal that despite the school's awareness and efforts to enforce the policy, the lack of a clear bureaucratic structure, effective communication, and adequate resources are the main barriers to optimal implementation. In addition, the attitudes and commitment of the implementers do not fully support the achievement of the policy's objectives. The theoretical implications of these findings emphasize the importance of the dynamic interaction between bureaucratic structure, communication, resources, and attitudes in the successful implementation of public policy. Practically, this study recommends forming a dedicated team, increasing socialization efforts, and providing sufficient resource support to strengthen the enforcement of smoke-free school policies. The study also highlights the potential for engaging students as agents of change to improve policy compliance. However, the study is limited by its focus on a single educational institution, which may limit the generalizability of the findings. Further research using different methods, such as quantitative surveys or comparative studies between schools, is recommended to gain a broader understanding.

Abstract

This research explores the contribution of political literacy in enriching the political participation of the millennial generation in the Sidenreng Rappang Regency. This research collected data through observation, interviews, and documentation using a qualitative description approach. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification, with processing using Nvivo12 Plus. The research findings show that political literacy plays a significant role in motivating millennial participation, as seen from the achievement of the three indicators. Although political will emerges as the dominant indicator, awareness of the importance of engaging in institutional political activity also plays an important role. Supporting factors, such as political stimuli, environmental situation, and political education, are essential catalysts for millennials' active participation. In this context, the environment and political situation are the dominant factors, outperforming other factors. The results of this study provide an in-depth understanding of the relationship between political literacy and millennials' political participation, emphasizing the role of political environment and situation as key drivers. The implications of these findings can help policy designers develop more effective strategies for improving political literacy and, consequently, increase the political participation of millennials in Sidenreng Rappang Regency.
