Abstract

This study aims to explore students' and teachers' perceptions of bullying in high schools and their responses to bullying cases. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, the study involved 20 students and 10 teachers from two schools in city X, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions (FGD), then analyzed using thematic analysis. The results indicate a difference in perceptions between students and teachers. Students tend to view verbal bullying as part of "normal" social interactions, whereas teachers consider bullying a serious issue that requires immediate intervention. Teachers are particularly concerned about physical and cyberbullying due to its significant impact on students' mental health. Both groups acknowledged the need for school policies and support to handle bullying cases effectively. These findings emphasize the importance of collaboration among students, teachers, and school administrators, as well as the need for anti-bullying educational programs and policies to create a safe and supportive environment for students.

Abstract

This study departs from Arbisora's research which shows that there is a difference in the direction of the Qibla of the Al-Mashun Grand Mosque in Medan which is determined by the hisab method and the rashdul Qibla method. The researcher's temporary assumption is that this is because the hisab does not use magnetic declination. This study aims to prove the accuracy of the Qibla direction using the spherical triangle trigonometric hisab method with magnetic declination correction and the istiwa a'zam event. The research is field research, which was carried out at the Al-Mashun Grand Mosque in Medan City on July 15, 2024 which coincided with the istiwa a'zam event. The coordinate data of the Al-Mashun Grand Mosque in Medan was obtained from Garmin GPS 60, which is 98°41' 4.14" East Longitude and 3ᴼ 34' 30.79" North Latitude. For the coordinate data of the Kaaba, the latest data from Ahmad Izzuddin was used, as per the results of the study in 2007, namely 39ᴼ 49' 34.56" East Longitude and 21ᴼ 25' 21.17" North Latitude. The results of the study revealed that the calculation results of the spherical triangle trigonometry method with magnetic declination correction for the direction of the Qibla of the Al-Mashun Grand Mosque in Medan, namely the West to North Direction value = 23ᴼ 13' 52.2", the North to West Direction value = 66ᴼ 46' 7.8", and the azimuth value = 293ᴼ 13' 52.2". While the calculation results did not use magnetic declination correction, the azimuth value was 292ᴼ 46’ 26.95”. The results of field research on July 15, 2024 at 16:26 WIB during the istiwa a’zam event found that the Qibla Azimuth of the Al-Mashun Grand Mosque showed 293ᴼ the same as the rashdul Qibla from Arbisora 293ᴼ 20’ 49.18”. This proves that the hisab method using the magnetic declination correction method is more accurate.

Abstract

Early marriage remains an important issue in Indonesia, as noted in the 2024 Report on People's Welfare Indicators by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The majority of women in Indonesia marry for the first time between the ages of 19 and 24, with a proportion reaching 49.58%, an increase of 0.57% compared to 2023. The research method used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The data sources are library research, primary data, and secondary data from readings (laws and regulations, legal books, legal journals, and literature related to the subject of study in the field of law). The collected data is then analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques and conclusions are drawn. Early marriage, although justifiable from an Islamic legal perspective under certain conditions, has the potential to cause significant negative impacts from a psychological aspect, such as anxiety, stress, and unpreparedness in fulfilling the roles of husband or wife, which may disrupt marital harmony. According to Indonesian legal provisions, the minimum age for marriage is 19 years, aimed at ensuring the physical and mental readiness of the parties involved. Therefore, early marriage can be justified in certain situations, such as to avoid adultery or in the case of pregnancy outside of marriage, but the decision to marry should be based on careful consideration of the physical and psychological readiness of the couple. The principle of maslahah mursalah emphasizes that early marriage should only be conducted in urgent circumstances and after considering the welfare and harmony of the family.

Abstract

This study is a qualitative investigation aimed at exploring the role of the TikTok platform in English language learning. Employing a conceptual-empirical approach, the research utilises data gathered from observations conducted by the researchers. This empirical data serves to examine a phenomenon independently of existing theoretical frameworks. The analysis of both conceptual and empirical data reveals that the TikTok platform functions as an effective learning medium, facilitating students' enhancement of their English skills across listening, speaking, reading, writing, and supplementary competencies such as grammar. Furthermore, it was discovered that the integration of TikTok into the learning process affords students opportunities to engage with experiences and knowledge beyond the confines of the classroom. Consequently, students develop a positive outlook, bolstered by increased self-confidence in their English learning journey.
