Abstract

Advancements in information and communications technology (ICT) have accelerated significantly in the last decade, with key indicators such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and cloud computing demonstrating a level of technological development far surpassing previous years. This progress has provided substantial benefits to society, enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of information across various sectors. However, these technological advances also present challenges, particularly concerning increasingly complex cybercrimes that are frequently encountered by Generation Z as active internet users. Community service activities were conducted at Vocational High School Insan Cendekia Yogyakarta on June 11-12, 2024, aiming to increase the students’ awareness of cybersecurity and digital literacy. The activities included lectures, demonstrations, and discussions on cybercrime and digital literacy, involving 35 participants. Results from pretests and posttests indicated a significant improvement in participants' knowledge, with an average score increase of 11.43 points or 16.8%. Participant satisfaction surveys also revealed that the activity was highly beneficial and met expectations. Overall, the activity successfully achieved its primary objective of enhancing students' awareness and knowledge about cybersecurity, evidenced by high levels of participation and satisfaction.

Abstract

The background of the community service program is to address the community's needs for environmentally friendly, healthy, and chemical-free health products. Skin health for urban communities is a crucial aspect, as living in a city area is often synonymous with exposure to intense sunlight, pollution, dust, and smoke, which can damage skin health. However, it is not uncommon for modern health products to contain chemicals that can damage the skin. Therefore, a healthy, natural, and inexpensive health product is needed. Herbal scrub is a product that meets the demand for natural health products. This community service program was conducted in Bendul Merisi Village, Surabaya, in which the participants were housewives. From this community service program, the participants gained an understanding of herbal scrub products, their benefits, manufacturing processes, ingredients, uses, and economic benefits.

Abstract

The problem of low nutrition in toddlers is a major problem and concern for the Indonesian government. If the government fails to eliminate or is unsuccessful in reducing stunting cases, Indonesia will likely lack many of the nation's next generation who can continue Indonesia's development towards an advanced, just, and prosperous country for all Indonesian people. Accelerating the reduction of stunting, especially toddlers, has been a priority program of the government for the past 5 years, according to the 2020-2024 RPJMN, with a target of reducing stunting cases by 14% by 2024. To support this, the Indonesian government has developed applications that can help the stunning eradication program, including the healthy child application, the e-PPGBM application, e-HDW, and the Sidata application developed by the Tangerang City government. This socialization activity is carried out by delivering seminars or lectures face to face to the community, also discussions and questions and answers sessions related to how we can prevent stunting to achieve a stunning generation and how to utilize the current stunting prevention application. The socialization activity was carried out in August 2024, attended by +/- 50 participants from the Kunciran Jaya sub-district posyandu cadres. In this activity, pre and post tests were conducted to measure the level of understanding of the material presented, and the data showed that 85% of participants understood the information presented.

Abstract

The existence of ‘Mbah Brambang’ paper puppets has become a valuable cultural asset for Wirun Village in Mojolaban, Sukoharjo Regency. Puppet craftsmen face economic challenges in the modern era as sales competition is carried out through online platforms. However, they are not very proficient in conducting online sales and primarily rely on offline transactions. It creates an effect such as declining online sales and a lack of offline customer presence. Addressing these challenges, the community service team provides training and assistance in increasing online sales and tips for increasing offline sales so that the existence of UMKM wayang kertas, which has been around for a long time, continues to exist. The community service was carried out through presentations, discussions, and demonstrations of the use of Shopee sales media. As a result, the puppet craftsmen now have an online shop on Shopee platform, and they are collaborating with the local youth group to jointly create a documentary video related to the history of the paper puppet’s existence. The use of Shopee as an online sales tool was also monitored and assisted by the community service team for several months, thus any difficulties could be immediately resolved. In this way, the craftsmen do not experience certain obstacles in online sales activities.

Abstract

The flipchart media is used to improve the entrepreneurial skills of students of SMAN 1 Muara Gembong, supporting school programs such as entrepreneurship and the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5). The instrument used was a questionnaire to assess the quality of training media and satisfaction with the implementation of activities. The method used was training with data analysis of quantitative descriptive techniques. Product trials were conducted at the Processing Laboratory of the Catering Study Programme, Faculty of Engineering, State University of Jakarta, to find the best product formulation for fishrimp seaweed roll, fish finger, fish gyoza, fish egg roll, fish cake, milkfish spring roll, fried noodles, milkfish croquette, and serundeng talam cake. The media used was a flipchart containing information about milkfish, entrepreneurship, selling price calculation, processed product recipes, packaging examples, and labels. The training was attended by 30 students, the vice principal, teacher representatives, and school canteen managers. The quality assessment of the training media was 100% positive, with a satisfaction rating of 76.89% stating very satisfied, 18.603% stating satisfied, and 4.05% stating moderately satisfied from a total of 30 participants. The flipchart media can be used to increase the youth’s knowledge and skills, foster creativity in product innovation, and encourage entrepreneurial spirit, especially about processed milkfish and shrimp variations.

Abstract

The development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia continues to grow every year. In Wajo Regency, the development of SMEs is also increasing. Most SMEs use a lot of oil in their production processes. However, most of them have not utilized cooking oil from the food processing industry optimally, with many throwing it into the environment. This program was designed to enhance the awareness of SME entrepreneurs in Wajo Regency regarding the environmental hazards of cooking oil waste and its potential conversion into value-added products, such as aromatherapy candles. The initiative encompassed educational sessions, technical workshops, and live demonstrations of the candle-making process. The outcomes indicated a significant improvement in participants' understanding of waste cooking oil utilization and sustainable waste management strategies. Participants' feedback reflected an average satisfaction score exceeding 4, underscoring the program's effectiveness in delivering meaningful environmental solutions and practical benefits. Through this activity, it is hoped that not only can the participants utilize cooking oil waste in aromatherapy candles, but they can also use it in other products with added value.

Abstract

As toddlerhood is a golden milestone during children's growth, high-protein foods like fish are strongly recommended to avoid stunting. On the other hand, a series of proper aeration is often required to support aquaculture in fish farming. Here, the technology of microbubble generators (MBG) can be properly applied. In the present work, subsequent activities which were carried out comprised the design manufacturing, installation, and also trial of MBG units, followed by site exposures. During the first exposure, two sessions covering a talk show and another practical work were conducted. The working principle of MBG was discussed in the first session, while the installation and operation were practically elaborated in the second session. Additionally, in the second exposure, several units of microbubble generators were granted to be applied to the community’s fish farming.

Abstract

The public's lack of understanding of drug dosage forms can lead to errors in drug use. These medication errors can affect the success of therapy. Therefore, education on the knowledge of pharmaceutical dosage forms through Apoteker Cilik program can be implemented so that children take an active role in conveying drug-related information to the surrounding environment from an early age. This activity aimed to increase knowledge about the role of pharmacists and drug dosage forms in the community. The method used in this activity is an interactive presentation through PowerPoint media, games, and evaluation (pretest and posttest). The evaluation results of this community service activity showed an increase in knowledge, as seen from the average pretest and posttest scores. The pretest score was 66.79%, while the posttest score was 78.57%. The evaluation data were also analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results showed a significant difference in the participants' knowledge before and after the provision of the material. The test produced a significance value of 0.000 (p 0.05). Based on the results, it can be concluded that this community service activity ran well and made a significant positive difference.

Abstract

PT Nafisah Indo Permata is a travel agency company, especially for Umrah, Hajj, and other pilgrimage or spiritual trips. This company promotes its umrah and hajj travel, Nafisah Tour Travel, using direct selling methods—distributing brochures and business cards—while using a digital marketing strategy through Instagram. Unfortunately, Nafisah Tour Travel faces several problems, specifically in that it cannot maximize digital marketing as a promotional strategy for its umrah and hajj travel agencies. To overcome this problem, community service activities were conducted by Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo (UMSIDA) to assist Nafisah Tour Travel’s team in improving the quality of content produced on Instagram. In addition, it helped increase the credibility and reach of the Nafisah Tour Travel Instagram account. The result of this activity was the increasing reach of Nafisah Tour Travel through Instagram.

Abstract

Community service is one of the three pillars of higher education, alongside education and research, which aims to bring scientific knowledge directly to the community. This community service activity was conducted through an interactive socialization program on hydrogen bonding in DNA for students at SMA Kristen Menara Tirza. The program utilized a visual teaching aid developed by the Physics Study Program at Matana University to support understanding of abstract molecular structures such as the DNA double helix. The activity involved presentations, hands-on demonstrations, and two-way discussions using the teaching aid. Thirteen students from grade 12 participated in the session, which included pre-tests and post-tests to evaluate learning outcomes. The average test score increased from 35.38 to 55.38, indicating an improvement. Based on this result, all students agreed or strongly agreed that the teaching team mastered the material and presented it engagingly and that the activity was beneficial to their learning. This program shows that a socialization method supported by visual teaching aids significantly improves student comprehension of complex scientific concepts. It is recommended that similar programs be implemented more widely and supported with the development of digital or interactive learning tools to reach broader audiences.
