Abstract

The huge potential of the Kelumbayan coastal area is a treasure trove of local wisdom that promises to improve the population's economy and can be used as a source of learning based on local wisdom, it should be an important part of the student learning process. STEM is an interdisciplinary approach to learning in which students use science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in real contexts that connect schools, the world of work, and the global world that aims to build the literacy of the younger generation in these fields. The application of STEM combined with local wisdom as a learning resource for students is a new support for innovative learning for educators and students in Kelumbayan. The service was carried out in the Kelumbayan sub-district by presenting representatives of educators spread across several schools in seven villages. The service is carried out by applying the pretest first and the posttest at the end of the service program. Elementary school teachers in Kelumbayan District together have an understanding of the STEM learning approach and other innovative learning models that teach students, besides the simulation of teaching practice using this approach has provided enlightenment for teachers in carrying out classroom learning.

Abstract

Public speaking skills still need to be wholly owned by students. This reluctance to appear publicly is due to low self-confidence and minimal mastery of public speaking techniques. This inability causes communication that should be effective to be degraded. There often needs to be more clarity in communication in public. These misconceptions are documented and spread all over the web. Santri also becomes vulnerable to acts of bullying or bullying in cyberspace. This Community Service activity by the UIN Walisongo International KKN team, held at Ma'had Tahfiz Darul Falah Selangor, aims to assist students at the ma'had. Hence, they have good public speaking skills using the coaching clinic method. The results of this activity indicated that students who initially had low public speaking skills experienced an increase in their public speaking skills following the mentoring activities for learning to speak in public. This is indicated by students' positive responses while participating in the action, and the questionnaire results related to students' perceptions of the activity.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to explain the importance of communication literacy and political education, especially for Gen Z. Especially in the conditions of the political year, communication literacy and political education are guidelines for Gen Z so that they can respond more rationally to their political year. This is important because many Gen Z people are not politically literate, so sometimes political frenzy can expose them to criminal charges. For this reason, communication literacy and political education are important to equip them so they can continue to exist in the political year. This service method uses an active participation approach where this program involves students at SMKN 1 Blado. In its implementation, service members carry out initial observations, location determination, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up of the service program. The results of the service program show that students are very enthusiastic and interested in the political education material presented. They feel that they are still very unfamiliar with politics, so this service program is a source of knowledge for them. Moreover, Gen Z needs literacy. Apart from that, they were also very active in discussing questions and answers, especially how Gen Z behaves politically and rationally in determining their political choices to produce optimal impacts for them.

Abstract

Users of the Financial System in this community service activity are Congregation of Sisters of Charity of Noble Blood (ADM). They have a variety of ages and educational backgrounds, so most users do not really understand how to operate and categorize transactions according to transaction codes. This activity is held to help users using the Financial System by making digital guides. The method used is this activity is the discussion method by evaluating the Financial System which has been used in exploring problems, making digital guides (documents and videos), adding digital guides to the Financial System, and socializing the Financial System which has added digital guides. As a result, there are two digital guidance documents. The first is a Chart of Account (COA) book which contains transaction codes and the second is a Manual Book which contains how to operate the Financial System. The other results, there are two video tutorials that explain the entire operation method and especially, the transaction and report sections. The digital guide that has been added to the Financial System is quite helpful for users in operating it, where 13 respondents gave the most ratings in very good, good, and good enough conditions.

Abstract

Hypertension is characterized by blood pressure above 140/90 mmHg and is an alarm of hemodynamic imbalance in the body. Hypertension is a silent killer. One of the efforts that can be made to stabilize blood pressure is by consuming telang (Clitoria ternatea L.) flower herbal drinks. The high antioxidant content in telang flowers is beneficial for health. To introduce the benefits of flowers to the community, community service activities were carried out in Tunge Village, Kediri Regency. This community service was carried out using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method with a total of 238 participants. The community service was carried out in July-August 2024. It was divided into three activity groups. In each implementation, the activity was divided into six stages, namely: health screening, pretest, hypertension education, demonstration of making telang flower tea, tester, and testimony, then was closed with a post-test. There were several results obtained from the implementation of the community service activities, which were the increase in residents' knowledge about hypertension, the benefits of Clitoria ternatea L. flowers for health, and how to process Clitoria ternatea L. flowers into herbal drinks that are efficacious for health. In the processing into herbal drinks, the flower can be combined with other herbal ingredients to obtain other properties and a more delicious taste.

Abstract

Mathematics is one of the subjects that students are rarely interested in. The material in mathematics lessons is also abstract. So that most students find it difficult to understand mathematics. Therefore, a tool is needed in understanding mathematical material so that students have no difficulty in learning the problem. One of the tools or media that can be used to help students is by using teaching aids. Props used in community service activities include the mean, median, and mode boards; number line integer arithmetic operations; corner clock; and the number plate to the power of two. This community service activity was carried out in the Tenda study group, Ruteng. The duration of this activity is 3 months. The method used in this mentoring is to use the method of demonstration, discussion, question and answer and the practice of using teaching aids. The results of community service carried out are students feel helped in understanding mathematics subject matter and students feel happy because they experience fun learning. Students also find it easier to understand mathematics subject matter which is indicated by the scores obtained by students when working on practice questions related to mathematics material through the questions given by the community service team which has increased and students are enthusiastic in working on practical questions using math teaching aids. Thus, it can be concluded that community service activities through the use of teaching aids have succeeded in helping students overcome difficulties in understanding mathematics.

Abstract

Mechanic Haircut micro business is a small business with the advantage of selling excellent services but is not yet well-known by many people. This service aimed to assist in creating creative promotional content to attract more customers by utilizing Instagram and TikTok applications. The method used in the marketing promotion consisted of 3 stages, namely observation stage, training assistance, and presentation. The community service obtained a positive result in which the activities carried out enabled the micro business owners to utilize Instagram and TikTok media as free promotional media to increase their customers. Using image editing apps and feeds containing edited images could provide recommendations for the target audience so they would be interested in becoming customers. After the service activities were carried out with good dedication and were successful in assisting Mechanic Haircut micro business, the increase in customers could be observed every day.

Abstract

Self-medication is a community effort to choose treatment and medication to deal with complaints or symptoms of disease before seeking help from health facilities or medical personnel. There is a need and interest among Warak Parishioners regarding education on independent drug management at the household level because they do not yet have basic drug knowledge regarding drug categories and how to obtain, store, and dispose of drugs properly and correctly. This activity aims to provide education to people so that they are able to recognize types of medicines, how to get them, and how to store medicines properly, including regarding the period of use of medicinal preparations, and how to dispose of medicinal preparations properly and correctly. This activity is expected to improve the ability of Warak Parishioners to obtain, use, store, and dispose of medicine properly and correctly. The service activities began with attendance, distribution of goodie bags, pretest (10 minutes), education (60 minutes), question and answer (15 minutes), and posttest (10 minutes). The 38 participants consisted of the majority of women, aged 56-65 years and most of them had a high school education. The education provided could increase the knowledge of the Warak Parish community regarding independent, good, and correct medication management.

Abstract

This social contribution with the theme "Ecokids: Green Adventures Towards a Better Environment" was the result of the Independent Student Exchange Program (PMM). The community service activities were a real-life implementation of knowledge and experience of the Nusantara Module course. The PMM Batch 4 Inbound students at Samudra University, specifically group 1 “Seumantok” chose an elementary school as the community partner to carry out their service. From the initial survey conducted at school, some students did not understand the importance of environmental awareness and had low knowledge of sorting waste. The participants were 3rd grade elementary school students. The method used was by conducting education with presentations in class and using flip book learning media, games, and open discussions with the students. The results found that grade 3 students were able to learn about awareness and concern for keeping the environment cleaner. Apart from that, students were quite enthusiastic and could sort waste according to the type of waste, namely organic waste and inorganic waste.

Abstract

The Grigak Beach community experiences difficulty obtaining clean water, especially during the dry season. The lack of duration of the solar panel system that powers the water pump in the drilled well is the cause. Therefore, an effort was made to relocate the solar panel system from the previous location to a new location, which allows the solar panel system to have a longer lifespan. The community service that was carried out successfully relocated the solar panel system from the old location to the new one. The solar panel system can have a lifespan of about two hours longer.
