Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of extracurricular activities in supporting the development of character and worship experiences of students at SMP Mutia Rahma Bulu Cina. The full-day education system in this school requires additional activities that can help shape students' religious values. This study aims to analyze the level of implementation of the Islamic Propagation Agency's extracurricular activities and their influence on students' worship experiences. The research method used is quantitative with a survey approach to 33 students. The results of the study showed that student involvement in the Islamic Propagation Agency's activities had a significant effect on their worship experiences. The participation indicator showed that 42.4% of students agreed that these activities improved their worship, while 27.3% strongly agreed. Activities such as congregational prayer, reciting the Koran, and Islamic studies contributed to improving understanding and practice of daily worship. Overall, this study concludes that the Islamic Propagation Agency's extracurricular activities have a positive impact on students' worship experiences, strengthening religious character, and instilling Islamic values ??that can be applied in their social lives.

Abstract

The phenomenon in public schools encourages students to become Al-Qur'an memorizers, while improving their social skills. This study aims to analyze the effect of student participation in the tahfidz extracurricular at MTss Al-Washliyah Medan Krio on their social skills. The research method used is quantitative with data collection techniques in the form of observation and closed questionnaires for 19 grade XI students who participate in the tahfidz extracurricular. The results of the study showed that tahfidz activities have quite an effect on students' social skills, where 47.4% of respondents strongly agree and 36.8% agree that tahfidz improves their social skills. Conversely, only 26.3% agree that tahfidz hinders social skills. Overall, more students agreed and strongly agreed than disagreed, so it can be concluded that tahfidz extracurricular activities contribute positively to students' social skills.

Abstract

This research is based on the relationship between humans and the environment, the impact of pollution, and human awareness of the environment. The purpose of this research is to describe the representation of the marine environment in the novel Laut Pasang 1994 by Lillpudu, and to describe the concept of ecocriticism according to Grag Garrard. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The data sources in this research are sentences or stories that discuss the representation of the marine environment and the concept of literary ecocriticism in the novel Laut Pasang 1994 Karya Lillpudu. The way ecocritical studies work is to understand the science of the environment, therefore the results of this study show that there are representations of the marine environment and the concept of literary ecocriticism. Based on the concepts according to Grag Garrard regarding pollution, there is 1 data explaining the scattered garbage, there are 7 data where the data are houses, fields, and hospitals, 8 data disasters where the data explain the disasters of earthquakes, strong winds, and tsunamis, 0 data wilderness, 1 data animal explaining the existence of chickens, and the earth there are 3 data describing the earth there are stars, the sky, and the sun. The practical implications of this research on ecocritical concepts in the novel Laut Pasang 1994 by Lillpudu, have an important role in building character to care about the environment and awareness of the environment and instill good traits for the environment and family

Abstract

The open unemployment rate (TPT) for graduates of Vocational High Schools (SMK) in Indonesia remains high, reaching 10.38% (BPS, 2022). This indicates a gap between the skills of SMK graduates and the demands of the business and industrial sectors (DUDI). This study aims to identify strategies for improving the absorption rate and reducing the waiting period for SMK graduates through a systematic literature review. The findings indicate that several effective strategies have been implemented, including graduate marketing through the Special Job Market (BKK), the BMW program (Work, Further Education, and Entrepreneurship), and the Link and Match model, which aligns the curriculum with industry needs. Additionally, soft skills training and teacher competency enhancement contribute to graduates' job readiness. In conclusion, synergy between SMKs, DUDI, and the government is crucial to creating a more adaptive vocational education ecosystem, ultimately enhancing graduates' competitiveness in the job market.

Abstract

This study investigates the perspective of English teachers regarding the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a tool in the English Language Teaching (ELT) setting. The current research employed a convenience sampling technique to choose a sample of 346 students from 12th grade classes at SMAN 16 Medan. Data was gathered by the processing of questionnaires and conducting interviews with the teachers. A subsequent analysis of the data was carried out using SPSS version 29.0. The findings suggest that students support the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence in English Language Teaching (ELT) as a technological tool. Given the limited availability of the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence does not affect individuals’ positive view points about the importance of the utilization of Artificial Intelligence as an educational tool. The positive viewpoint of the teachers about implementing Artificial Intelligence into the development of educational tools in ELT Setting. The concern expressed by the teachers on the application of Artificial Intelligence highlight the multitude of the utilization of these tools for learning greatly enhances the efficacy of the learning and teaching process

Abstract

Organizational culture plays an important role in supporting the effectiveness of principal leadership and performance. This article aims to review various studies that discuss the relationship between organizational culture, leadership, and principal performance. Through a literature review approach, this study analyzes the results of previous studies to find the relationship between these elements. A strong organizational culture has been shown to have a significant impact on the effectiveness of principal leadership, because it can create a conducive work environment, increase collaboration, and strengthen the commitment of organizational members to common goals. In addition, an inclusive and learning-oriented organizational culture supports principals in managing operational and strategic challenges, including managing conflict and resistance to change. This study also revealed that transformational leadership plays a major role in leveraging organizational culture to create innovation and improve performance. Principals who succeed in building a positive organizational culture often demonstrate flexibility and ability to face the dynamics of modern education. By understanding the core values ??of organizational culture, principals can build harmonious relationships with teachers, staff, and students, thereby creating a better learning environment. The results of the study also show that a weak organizational culture can be an obstacle to achieving educational goals. In this condition, the principal needs to take strategic steps to strengthen the organizational culture, including involving all school members in the decision-making process and increasing teacher participation in curriculum development. A strong organizational culture not only improves the performance of the principal but also has a positive impact on student learning outcomes and staff job satisfaction. This study makes an important contribution to understanding the relationship between organizational culture, leadership, and principal performance. By integrating findings from various studies, this article provides recommendations for principals, policy makers, and educational researchers to focus on strengthening organizational culture as a primary strategy in improving the quality of education. This study also opens up opportunities for further research that can explore specific ways to integrate organizational culture with adaptive leadership styles

Abstract

This study analyzes the effect of education investment on economic growth and public welfare in Medan City in the period 2019-2024. With an empirical qualitative approach, this study uses survey, interview, and observation methods involving 300 respondents from various levels of society. The results of the analysis show that education investment has a positive correlation with economic growth and increasing public welfare. Education investment contributes 45% to economic growth and 52% to public welfare in Medan. The main factors that play a role in this relationship include increased labor productivity, technological innovation, and wider access to economic opportunities. In addition, this study highlights the importance of inclusive and sustainable education policies in driving economic development. The conclusion of this study confirms that improving the quality of education can be an effective strategy in reducing social disparities and improving overall public welfare.

Abstract

Indonesian language learning on fantasy story material at SMP Al-Washliyah 8 Medan still uses conventional lecture methods that are less interesting for students. This study aims to test the effect of the team quiz method on students' ability to determine the intrinsic elements of fantasy stories. This study is a quantitative experiment with a nonequivalent control group pretest-post test design. The sample consisted of 60 students divided into experimental and control classes. Data was collected through tests, observations, and documentation. The results showed that after the application of the team quiz method, the average posttest score of the experimental class increased to 81.5 compared to the control class which only reached 75.8. The t-test analysis showed that tcount> ttable (2.660> 1.701), so it can be concluded that the team quiz method has a significant effect on improving students' ability to determine the intrinsic elements of fantasy stories.

Abstract

Health is an important factor in supporting the learning process of students in elementary schools. The School Health Program (UKS) aims to increase students' awareness of health through education and healthy living practices. This study analyzes the role of teachers in implementing the UKS program and the strategies used to increase students' health awareness at SDN 014 Samarinda Ulu. With a qualitative approach and case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies. The results of the study indicate that teachers act as educators, facilitators, and role models in forming students' healthy living habits. The strategies implemented include lectures, hygiene demonstrations, use of educational media, and integration of health into extracurricular activities. Evaluation is carried out through observation and project-based tests. Challenges in implementing the UKS program include limited health workers, inadequate facilities, and low participation of students and parents. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the UKS curriculum, increase teacher capacity, and collaborate with health institutions to ensure the program runs effectively and sustainably.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a contextual-based learning module on "Humans, Places, and Environment" for seventh-grade MTs students. The development of this module is based on a contextual learning approach that links the material to students' daily lives to enhance their understanding and critical thinking skills. The research method used is research and development (R&D) with the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The effectiveness test was conducted through expert validation and student trials using descriptive analysis and the N-gain test. The results showed that the module achieved a high level of effectiveness, with a significant improvement in students' understanding based on the N-gain test. The module was also deemed suitable for use in the learning process based on validation from subject matter, design, and language experts. Thus, the development of this contextual-based module can serve as an effective alternative teaching material that supports students' independent learning.
