Abstract

This study aimed to explore how metacompetencies influence the work readiness of Generation Z in Indonesia and to investigate the moderating effect of prior work experience. The originality of this research lies in its application of Shet’s (2024) VUCA-oriented metacompetency framework within the Indonesian workforce context. Adopting a quantitative explanatory approach, the study gathered data from 125 Generation Z workers aged 17-28 across Indonesia, collected between July and August 2025. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with the Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) technique by SmartPLS 4 software, complemented by Multi-Group Analysis (MGA) to examine both direct causal relationships and the moderating influence of work experience. The results reveal that cognitive, cross-cultural, and personal effectiveness competencies significantly enhance work readiness, while analytical competency shows no significant effect. Work experience moderates these relationships, strengthening the influence of metacompetencies on readiness. Practically, the findings guide educators, employers, and policymakers to prioritize experiential learning and metacompetency development as strategic foundations for preparing Gen Z to thrive in the VUCA workplace.

Abstract

In many local government digital services, low adoption rates are often driven by limited user confidence in system reliability and difficulties in navigating online platforms. As licensing processes increasingly shift to digital environments, understanding the behavioral factors that shape citizen acceptance becomes critical to achieving efficient, transparent public service delivery. Within a smart governance framework, this study examines how user trust and user experience influence intention to use the Surabaya Single Window (SSW) Alfa digital licensing system, with perceived usefulness as a mediating variable. A quantitative explanatory survey of 200 users was analyzed using path and Sobel tests. The findings indicate that trust and user experience significantly enhance perceived usefulness and intention to use, while perceived usefulness partially mediates these relationships. The results highlight that effective and sustainable smart governance depends not only on technological functionality but also on institutional trust and positive user engagement to sustain long-term citizen adoption.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of digital well-being on students' intentions to become entrepreneurs. A quantitative survey design was applied to students enrolled in the Entrepreneurship Study Programme at Makassar State University. A sample of 242 respondents was selected using simple random sampling with a margin of error of 5%. Data were collected using a validated and reliable Likert scale questionnaire. Data analysis used simple linear regression to evaluate the direct influence of digital well-being on entrepreneurial intentions. The results showed that digital well-being had a positive and significant influence on entrepreneurial intentions. This study concludes that a higher level of digital well-being strengthens students' ability to manage technology productively, which in turn increases their readiness for entrepreneurship. Theoretically, this research contributes by integrating digital well-being into the framework of entrepreneurial intentions in higher education. Practically, it is recommended that universities incorporate digital well-being skills into the curriculum of entrepreneurship programmes as a strategic effort to strengthen students' capacity to form effective entrepreneurial intentions in the digital age.

Abstract

Purchase intention endorsed by virtual influencers remains inconsistent across studies, leaving a practical gap in how exposure translates into buying. This study examines whether anthropomorphic appearance and behavior increase purchase intention via social presence and perceived authenticity, and whether influencer type matters. Guided by Social Presence Theory, we conducted a cross-sectional online survey; the hypothesized relationships were evaluated using SEM. Results show that anthropomorphic appearance and behavior significantly heighten social presence, social presence increases perceived authenticity, and perceived authenticity strongly predicts purchase intention. Conversely, influencer type shows no meaningful effect on authenticity and does not improve the indirect pathway from anthropomorphism to purchase intention. The findings recommend that practitioners prioritize human-like visual and behavioral cues and design interactions that cultivate social presence and authenticity rather than relying on celebrity status. Limitations include the cross-sectional design, use of a single virtual influencer stimulus, and a relatively homogeneous sample; future work should test multiple stimuli using longitudinal designs.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively analyze the influence of leader mindset on ocean citizenship behavior and its implications on employee performance in the maritime sector, using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares approach. This approach was chosen for its ability to analyze complex structural models with latent variables and multidimensional causal relationships to explore how sustainability-oriented leadership mindsets and maritime ethics can drive pro-environmental and pro-social behaviors among employees. The results of the study showed that Leader Mindset had a positive and significant effect on OCB, Leader Mindset had a positive and significant effect on employee performance, OCB had a positive and significant effect on employee performance, and OCB was proven to mediate the relationship between Leader Mindset and employee performance. These findings confirm that visionary, innovative, and maritime ecosystem-conscious leadership encourages employee marine citizenship behaviors, which ultimately improve individual and organizational performance, so that the development of a leadership mindset and the formation of OCBs are important strategies to increase the effectiveness of maritime organizations.

Abstract

This study examined how student beliefs constructed side hustle as simultaneous opportunity and barrier to entrepreneurship. A sequential mixed-methods design was employed, involving thematic analysis of 30 students through interviews and focus group discussions, followed by regression analysis testing grade point average, working hours, and business type as stress predictors among 100 Indonesian student entrepreneurs using Depression Anxiety Stress Scales-21. Conventional structural predictors explained only a limited proportion of variance, with the regression model accounting for 5.6% of the total variance. Grade point average, working hours, and business type yielded null effects on psychological distress. Qualitative findings revealed psychosocial dominance: passion-driven motivation decoupled hours from distress, romantic partners functioned as primary buffer over peer networks, and "entrepreneur mindset" enabled resilience through stigma rejection. Academic performance remained high with mean grade point average of 3.62. The findings demonstrated that psychological resources overrode tangible depletion in collectivist contexts, requiring universities to reframe side hustle as experiential learning asset through credit recognition and resilience programs to cultivate entrepreneurial pipeline.

Abstract

High unemployment rates among college graduates and low interest in entrepreneurship among students are pressing issues in Indonesia's economic development. This study examines how digital literacy, entrepreneurial knowledge, and internal locus of control influence entrepreneurial interest among economics students at Surabaya State University. Using a quantitative approach and explanatory research design, this study involved 171 participants obtained through random sampling. Data analysis was performed using Partial Least Squares (PLS)-based Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) through the WarpPLS application. The results of the study demonstrate that entrepreneurial interest is positively and significantly impacted by all three variables. Among the three, entrepreneurial knowledge emerged as the dominant factor, followed by digital literacy and internal locus of control. Overall, this research model was able to explain 48% of the variation in entrepreneurial interest.
