Abstract

One of the linguistic skills that students should focus on learning is reading comprehension. Most junior high school students struggled with their reading abilities. This study aimed to investigate if Jigsaw combined with pictures may enhance the reading comprehension of seventh-grade students at SMPN 12 Denpasar in the academic year 2022/2023 through action research conducted in the classroom. Pre-test, post-test, and questionnaire activities were, therefore, part of the researchers’ efforts to meet the goal of the current study. The pre-test results from the pre-cycle indicated that the subjects' reading comprehension skills, mainly when it came to reading descriptive texts, were categorized as good. The current action research in the classroom was then conducted using a Jigsaw combined with pictures. The result of the post-test I in the second session showed that the subjects' progress decreased compared to the previous pre-test. In addition, the result of the post-test II in the last session showed significant progress concerning the subjects' ability in reading comprehension, which improved from sound level to excellent. Additionally, this study demonstrated that the individuals' favorable reactions to the method used to increase their reading comprehension changed their learning behavior. In conclusion, the current classroom action research showed that using Jigsaw combined with pictures could enhance the reading comprehension of seventh-grade students at SMPN 12 Denpasar in the academic year 2022/2023. The subjects also gave positive responses.

Abstract

This research provides an in-depth review of the integration of digital literacy and cyber socialization in 21st-century education, positing the importance of these two aspects in preparing students for an ever-evolving world. Using PRISMA's framework for systematic analysis, the study evaluated articles from reputable journals between 2014 and 2024, presenting results that underscore a significant shift in the educational paradigm from traditional to digital. Digital literacy, defined as the ability to use technology efficiently, search and evaluate information, and communicate effectively on digital platforms, has become an essential requirement in modern education. The study shows that digital literacy not only improves technical skills but also supports critical and creative learning among students. In addition, digital literacy education includes teaching ethics and online safety and encouraging responsible internet use. Cyber socialization, with its focus on interaction through social media and digital platforms, has enriched the learning experience through wider collaboration and exchange of resources. However, it also poses challenges such as cyberbullying and security issues, which demand a structured educational response to address related social and psychological issues. The Industrial Revolution 4.0 and the COVID-19 pandemic have accelerated the acceptance of technology in education, emphasizing the importance of character education and the adaptation of innovative teaching methods. Education that is responsive to technological change must integrate digital literacy into all aspects of learning, leading to a more holistic and inclusive approach. Overall, the study underscores the importance of digital literacy and cyber socialization in shaping adaptive and supportive learning environments. 21st-century education must recognize and utilize technology not only as an auxiliary tool but as an integral part of the curriculum, to equip students with the skills needed to succeed in the digital age. By ensuring that digital literacy and cyber socialization are at the heart of education, we can anticipate future needs and challenges, shaping a generation that can not only survive but thrive in an ever-changing digital landscape.

Abstract

Law evolves continually from the past to the present, aiming to improve various aspects, particularly the implementation of justice. One significant development is Restorative Justice, which shifts the focus in the criminal justice system towards justice for both victims and perpetrators, including alternative punishments like social work. The term "narcotics" often causes people to recoil in fear due to the severe negative impacts and numerous victims associated with these illegal substances. This concern extends widely, particularly among parents who worry about their children's associations. Recently, the issue has escalated to become a widespread concern for all segments of society. this research is to find out the regulations for the use of restorative justice in drug abuse cases and to determine the effect of criminal acts of drug abuse on the country's economy. By using normative legal method, the author finds that Restorative Justice is a shift in the criminal justice system that prioritizes justice for both victims and perpetrators, including alternative punishments like social work. It is regulated by various laws and emphasizes rehabilitation for narcotics abusers, recognizing them as both perpetrators and victims. The illegal drug trade has increased social, health, and economic impacts, with drug abuse leading to crime and social insecurity. Economic pressures drive abusers to commit crimes such as theft and robbery. According to data, Indonesia's state losses due to drugs have significantly risen, reaching IDR 84.7 trillion in 2017. Additionally, the UNODC reported a three-fold increase in opium production since 2006 in Southeast Asia's Golden Triangle, threatening regional stability and law enforcement.
