Abstract

The "Temu Manten" tradition is a Javanese tradition, one of which is practiced in the Simalungun Regency. This tradition is usually followed when someone wants to marry off their son or daughter. "Temu Manten" is also often referred to as the "Panggih Ceremony," which means the ceremony of the meeting of the prospective groom and bride at the bride's residence. The research aims to describe the values embedded in the traditional Javanese culture of "Temu Manten" in the Simalungun Regency. The researcher used a qualitative descriptive research method. Data collection involved face-to-face interviews with cultural experts and wedding guides at several pavilions in the Simalungun Regency, as well as online interviews. The study's results show that in the implementation of the "Temu Manten" tradition in the Simalungun Regency, there are several processes such as "Tukar Kembar Sanggan" and "Mayang," "Balangan Gantal," "Ranupada," "Sinduran," "Pangkon Timbang," "Kacar Kucur," "Dulangan," "Mapag Besan," and "Sungkem." However, before these sequences are carried out, several preliminary processes must be performed, such as "Bedol Kembar Mayang," which is the process of throwing the "Mayang Kembar" on the roof of the house, symbolizing the return of plants from heaven to the gods. Each step of the "Temu Manten" ceremony has its own meaning, which is a prayer for the newlyweds. The survey results above can be concluded that the betrothal ceremony in the Simalungun Regency has distinctive characteristics. In this region, the betrothal ceremony involves a unique "bodol kembar mayang" ritual, which is used as a symbol of the return of sacred plants to the gods or as an expression of gratitude to the Creator. Additionally, it marks the first meeting of the bride and groom through the "Bubak Kawah" marriage, signifying the first child-in-law or the final closing of the in-law relationship. Keyword: Marriage, Temu Manten, Cultural Values

Abstract

 Masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana bentuk perubahan bahasa dan motivasi psikologi pengikut akun IG @kakagastro dalam memberikan komentar pada proses penyembuhan penyakit saluran pencernaan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan perubahan bahasa, motivasi psikologi, dan keterkaitan keduanya dalam proses berbahasa seseorang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif. Data diambil dari screenshot komentar akun pengikut Instagram @kakagastro. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada sembilan perubahan bahasa yang terjadi, yakni afaresis, apokop, disimilasi, epentesis, netralisasi, onomatope, paragog, sinkop, dan zeroisasi. Adapun motivasi psikologi yang ditemukan berjumlah tiga, yakni kebutuhan keamanan dan keselamatan, kebutuhan sosial, dan kebutuhan penghargaan, sedangkan keterkaitan keduanya menawarkan konsep baru bahwa ada dua fungsi bahasa tambahan, yakni fungsi mengingat dan berpikir, serta fungsi phatis sosial. Kata kunci: instagram, motivasi psikologi, perubahan bahasa

Abstract

The culture of politeness adopted by the Javanese ethnic group means that the people often use indirect conversation to convey certain intentions. One of the roles of tembang dolanan is as a tool to convey ideas in the form of moral messages, since tembang dolanan contains good messages for life. So, studying Javanese, especially the reduplication process in dolanan songs, is important. The purpose of this analysis is to represent the forms and meanings that are often found in tembang dolanan, so that it can show the distinctive characteristics of the text/lyrics of tembang dolanan. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive research method, namely to describe the forms of reduplications, and to analyze the meaning contained in reduplication qualitatively. Research data collection was carried out by repeatedly reading, listening, and taking notes. The data was analyzed using the concept of reduplication in Javanese by Wijana (2021). From the research results it was found that the most widely used type of reduplication was full reduplication with 29 occurrences. Meanwhile, regarding the type of meaning, the emergence of the meaning of continuity dominates 25 times in the tembang dolanan. Keywords: reduplication, Javanese, tembang dolanan, meaning, morphology

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan gaya bahasa repetisi dalam film kartun animasi di channel youtube Nussa Official. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian berupa paparan kalimat dari hasil transkripsi film kartun animasi di channel youtube Nussa Official yang mengandung gaya bahasa repitisi. Adapun teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode simak, dan selanjutnya metode untuk analisis data menggunakan padan ortografis. Hasil analisis dan pembahasan dapat diketahui bahwa dalam tayangan film animasi anak di youtube channel Nussa Official banyak digunakan gaya bahasa repetisi, yaitu: epizeuksis terdapat 5 kutipan, anafora 6 kutipan, epistrofa 5 kutipan, simploke (syimploke) 4 kutipan¸ mesodiplosis 4 kutipan, epanalepsis 5 kutipan, dan anadiplosis 4 kutipan. Simpulan dalam penelitian ini adalah bahwa penggunaan gaya bahasa repetisi yang memiliki fungsi untuk menekankan atau mempertegas pesan-pesan yang akan disampaikan berupa nilai-nilai pendidikan yang islami melalui tayangan film kartun animasi anak di channel youtube Nussa Official.

Abstract

Inappropriate use of foreign words in the public sphere often occurs for several reasons, including ignorance of the original meaning of the word, influence from the surrounding environment, or unintentional use. In Indonesian, sometimes foreign words are used inappropriately or not in accordance with the rules. One of the foreign languages absorbed into Indonesian is Arabic. The research method uses qualitative research. Qualitative descriptive research to analyze data in the form of foreign language absorption words whose absorption is not in accordance with the standard language rules of Indonesian. The research was conducted during the month of Ramadan 1445 H/2024 M so that the phenomenon of deviation of absorption words that appeared in the public domain of Kolaka City focused on Arabic foreign absorption words. The data were collected by observing, interview, documenting, and document review the absorption vocabulary contained in the data sources in the form of notice boards, posters, banners, pamphlets, billboards, billboards, and others. The results showed that the most common mistakes found in the public domain of Kolaka City are the words ramadan, salat, prayer, musholah, ummat, muslimah, sholawat, dzuhur, and wudu which should use the words ramadan, prayer, musala, ummah, muslimat, salawat, zuhur, and wudu. The findings of this study are expected to have a good impact on society about the importance of paying attention to the context and original meaning of the absorbing words used in communication. A good understanding of the language of origin of an absorbed word in the appropriate context. Thus, errors in the use of absorbing words can be minimized and effective communication can be maintained.Keywords: Phenomenon, Deviation, Adapted Words, Public Space

Abstract

Every language skill must have its disadvantages and advantages, as well as writing skills (Maharah Kitabah). Based on the results of observations, there are difficulties in writing skills, namely different backgrounds When attending elementary school, lack of practice and uninteresting material taught by educators to students from the description above shows that there is a need for interesting media to increase enthusiasm for learning in students in writing. One media that can increase students' enthusiasm in writing skills is e-comic. E-comic is a digital comic that is used to convey information about the field of knowledge excitingly and entertainingly, besides the use of e-comics are more practical and can be opened anywhere and anytime as long as they have a file or access link; e-comic is also an attraction for students so that it can help in learning Arabic, especially in maharah kitabah. The research was conducted at SMP Daarut Tauhiid Bandung in class VII, which aimed to determine whether e-comic media was influential in improving maharah kitabah. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design, which was divided into two research groups: a control group and an experimental group. Data is taken using tests in the form of pretest and post-test. The results showed that e-comic media using Canva was influential in increasing Maharah kitabah with an increase of 23.5; besides that, it was strengthened by a signification value of 0.00, meaning there is a difference in student learning outcomes. Abstract

This study aims to describe the percentage of kinship and separation time between Javanese (J), Nias (N) and Batak Toba (BT) in Medan. This study used a combined qualitative and quantitative method. The type of data studied refers to the 200 vocabulary lists put forward by Swadesh. Data sources are obtained through written sources and in-depth interviews with informants. From written data sources, research reference data were obtained in Proto Austronesian (PAN) and Indonesian language versions. Then interviews were conducted with informants from each language speaker. The data collection method used is the listen and cakap method. Data analysis techniques are carried out using lexicostatistical formula calculations and glotochronology. The results of this research show that the percentage of kinship between BJ and BN is 25%, with the separation time being 3193 years ago (calculated in 2024). The percentage of BJ and BN kinship is 34% with an estimated separation time for these two languages being 2486 years ago. Then, BJ and BN have a kinship percentage of 29%, with an estimated separation time between these two languages being 2852 years ago. Based on the percentage of kinship, these three languages can be classified into the family group of One Family (Stock).Keywords: lexicostatistic, glottochronology, Javanese, Nias, Tobanese

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan proses pengembangan, kualitas bahan ajar dan keefektifan bahan ajar ekoliterasi untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis narasi pada siswa kelas V sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan mengacu pada model ADDIE. Subjek penelitian pengembangan bahan ajar adalah siswa kelas V SDN Kalirejo 2 dan SDN Luwihaji 3. Uji coba dilakukan dengan melakukan 2 kali pertemuan dengan menerapkan pretest dan posttest. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan angket, pengamatan dan tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa : 1. Bahan ajar ekoliterasi dinyatakan layak untuk dikembangkan, karena selama proses pembelajaran berjalan, aktivitas guru berjalan dengan lancar, siswa menikmati proses pembelajaran. 2. Kualitas bahan ajar dinyatakan layak dan patut untuk dikembangkan, karena dalam proses validasi yang dilakukan 2 validator dinyatakan valid. 3. Keefektifan bahan ajar ekoliterasi dinyatakan efektif dengan hasil pretest dan posttest yang mengalami kenaikan. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa keterampilan menulis narasi siswa kelas V SD setelah menggunakan bahan ajar ekoliterasi mengalami peningkatan. Kata kunci: bahan ajar, ekoliterasi, menulis, narasi

Abstract

The research on the narrative of the ecological culture of the Kon Village community is closely related to the novel Haniyah and Ala at Rumah Teteruga by Erni Aladjai. This study aims to describe the ecological culture in the novel set in Eastern Indonesia. The social activities of the characters are close to the natural, social, and cultural environments. The majority of the community's livelihoods are as farmers and clove laborers. In addition, as clove climbers, vegetable pickers, fishermen, teachers, and others. The analysis in the study uses the theory of literary ecoanthropology, which is a combination of two theories of literary ecology and literary anthropology. The research method uses qualitative descriptive literature. The data findings are in the form of narrative quotations based on the formulation of the problem. The data collection technique uses content analysis sourced from the object of the novel research. The results of the ecological culture research in the novel include: (i) the natural environment, (ii) the cultural environment, and (iii) the social environment. Through these ecological culture findings, it is shown that the lives of the people in Kon Village are friendly with nature. Abstract

This study aims to reveal the syntactic complexity of noun phrases in the narrative text "The Enchanted Fish" and its impact on the readability of the text. The research method used is content analysis with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were taken from the text "The Enchanted Fish", an adaptation of a classic folk tale by the Brothers Grimm, and is an English teaching material for high school students in Indonesia. The analysis focused on the identification and categorization of simple and complex noun phrases in the text and how their syntactic structure affects the readability and comprehension of the text. The results showed that 63% of the noun phrases in the text were complex noun phrases, while the remaining 37% were simple noun phrases. Complex noun phrases tend to increase the difficulty level of the text, which can make it difficult for students to read and understand the contents of this narrative text. This is due to the presence of modifiers or layers of detail that explain the core part of the noun (head) in the phrase, thereby increasing the reader's cognitive load. This syntactic complexity requires students to process additional information contained in the modifiers, which often slows down reading speed and reduces overall comprehension of the text. This directly affects the readability of the text by increasing the level of difficulty and potential cognitive fatigue. These findings provide important implications for language teaching strategies, namely underlining the importance of syntactic analysis of noun phrases in order to (1) select appropriate teaching materials/texts, (2) provide structured teaching of noun phrases, and (3) provide constructive feedback in order to help students who have difficulty reading complex texts, especially in the aspect of noun phrases.Keywords: noun phrases, narrative text, text readability
