Abstract

[Correlation Between the Discipline of Using Eye Protective Equipment and Eye Fatigue in Welding Workers in Sukawati District] Welding is a process of joining several metals to form an effective whole. Workers in welding industries can be exposed to high intensity of light welding radiation, which can have an impact on eye health, one of which causes eyestrain. According to several studies, the use of eye protective equipment (APM), such as welding goggles, can reduce eyestrain; however, the awareness of welders in using APM is relatively low. The aims of this study was to determine the relationship of the eyestrain of welding workers in Sukawati and their awareness of wearing APM. The sampling technique employed in this study was total enumeration, encompassing a total cohort of 105 individuals. Data was collected using a Visual Fatigue Index (VFI) questionnaire by looking at the symptoms of welders’ eyestrain. Relationships between variables were tested by data analysis using bivariate analysis through the computerized system of the SPSS program. The findings of this investigation reveal that a significant proportion of welders fall under the age category of >31 years (53.3%), have work shifts lasting >6 hours (64.8%), possess job tenure exceeding 3 years (61.9%), and abstain from utilizing APM (65.7%); eye fatigue is predominantly experienced by the participants (67.6%). The bivariate analysis outcomes suggest a correlation between the conscientiousness of welders in adopting APM and their susceptibility to eye fatigue, with a prevalence ratio of 4.770 (p = 0.001; CI: 2.445 - 9.305). It can be inferred that the diligence in employing APM is linked to the incidence of eye fatigue in welders within Sukawati District. Consequently, it is recommended that welders take periodic breaks using the 20:20:20 method to alleviate eye strain.

Abstract

[The Relationship Between Hemoglobin Levels With The Occurrence Of Fever Seizures In Toddler Age Children] Febrile seizures are neurological disorders commonly found in children. This disease can be caused by the level of hemoglobin. If the hemoglobin level is low, it can cause anemia. Anemia has an impact on decreasing the power of oxygen transportation to the tissues which disrupts the stability of the nerve cell membranes and triggers seizures. The purpose of the study was to find out the correlation of hemoglobin levels with the emergence of febrile seizures that attacked children under five years old at the Sanjiwani Hospital, Gianyar Regency for the 2017-2019 period. This study used secondary data obtained from the patient's medical history, with a cross-sectional design. The total sample is 96 respondents, obtained by simple random sampling. With statistical analysis, there was no significant difference regarding gender (p=0.636) and age (p=0.619) between the febrile seizure group and the febrile group without seizures. Unpaired t-test results show that the mean hemoglobin level in subjects with febrile seizures is 10.71gr/dl, whereas in subjects with fever without seizures, the average hemoglobin level is 12.02g/dl. This difference was statistically significant (p<0.001). In this study, the relationship between low Hb levels and the incidence of febrile seizures was analyzed. With the chi-square test (χ2), there was a significant correlation between patients with low Hb levels (Hb < 11 g/dl) and the occurrence of febrile seizures (p < 0.001, RP = 2.1 CI 1.531-2.893). It can be concluded in this study that there is a correlation between hemoglobin levels and the occurrence of febrile seizures that attack children under five years old at the Sanjiwani Hospital, Gianyar Regency. Abstract

Stunting is a condition that fails to grow in children under five so that the child becomes too short for his age. The standard stunting measurement is based on the body length index compared to age (PB / U) or height compared to age (TB / U) with a limit (z-score) less than -2 SD from the WHO child growth nutritional status table. Stunting events are influenced by several factors, one of which is Low Birth Weight (LBW). The purpose of this study was to find out if there is a LBW relationship with stunting events in children aged 2-5 years in Sidan Village of Health Center Gianyar I Working Area in 2019. This study is a analitic study with a case control approach. The sample in this study was all children aged 2-5 years in sidan village. This research sampling technique is a total sampling with a sample number of 58 respondents who meet the criteria of inclusion and exclusion. Data collection using observation sheets and mother and child health (KIA) books. Data analysis using the Chi-square test with α=0.05. In this study obtained the results: the frequency of stunting the most in the age range of 24-36 months as many as 12 children. Of the 58 children, there were 26 children with a history of LBW, including in the stunting group as many as 21 children and in the group of not stunting as many as 5 children. From this study, it was concluded that there is a historical relationship between LBW and stunting events in children aged 2-5 years in Sidan Village of Health Center Gianyar I Working Area in 2019 (p: 0.000; OR: 12,000; 95% CI: 3,569-44,488).

Abstract

[Characteristic of Cataract Patients at Ari Canti Hospital From 2017-2019] Cataract is an ocular condition characterized by the opacification of the eye's lens, leading to visual impairment. Cataracts are caused by the disruption of mechanism between water and electrolytes which is triggered by the denaturation of lens proteins. Cataracts represent the predominant etiology of blindness and it is estimated that around 65.2 million people in the world suffer from cataracts. Although cataract surgery has been proven to reduce blindness, cataracts are still the leading cause of blindness in developing countries due to the lack of access to medical services and eye examinations. This investigation seeks to ascertain the attributes of cataract patients in relation to age, gender, systemic comorbidities (which consists of diabetes and hypertension), cataract severity, and visual acuity within the timeframe of 2017-2019 at Ari Canti Hospital. This descriptive research takes place in Ari Canti Hospital and it’s using cross-sectional method. Samples were obtained by consecutive sampling technique and data were collected by obtaining patient medical records to provide sample characteristics. The total amount of samples gathered were 262 samples. Results concluded that cataracts are more susceptible to people aged between 70-79 years, female and those who have a history of hypertension. Most cataracts symptoms begin at the immature stage and visual acuity is mostly at UCVA >3/60. Several recommendations for this study could serve as a basis for cataract screening and management policies and might also serve as a reference for future research endeavors.
