Abstract

This research emphasizes the importance of developing infographic media to improve the teaching of Hindu-Buddhist heritage at Bumiayu Temple site in history subjects for vocational high schools (SMK). This research was conducted to address the lack of interesting and effective learning media in the conventional teaching method, which was deemed insufficient to increase students' understanding and interest in the subject. Using a needs analysis approach, data was collected through questionnaires distributed to teachers and students, focusing on competencies, learning styles, and student characteristics. Findings showed that 66.66% of students preferred a visual learning style, with most students showing moderate learning competence (60.77%). The infographic media proved to be a relevant solution, offering a visually appealing and accessible way to integrate historical content such as temple structures, cultural values, and related narratives. It also supports project-based learning by encouraging students' active participation and critical thinking. This study concludes that infographic media is a potential and strategic tool to improve the quality of history education in SMK. Future research could evaluate its implementation in classrooms to assess its direct impact on learning outcomes and its potential applicability to other history topics.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' mental models in chemistry, identify persistent misconceptions, and explore instructional strategies that facilitate conceptual change. A systematic literature review (SLR) approach was employed, examining 15 selected studies published between 2014 and 2024 from reputable academic sources. The findings reveal that synthetic models dominate students' understanding across various chemistry topics, indicating a mix of correct and incorrect scientific conceptions. Misconceptions are particularly prevalent in chemical equilibrium, redox reactions, and acid-base concepts, where students struggle to integrate macroscopic, submicroscopic, and symbolic representations. The study also reviews instructional strategies, including inquiry-based learning, model-based reasoning, and technology-enhanced approaches such as augmented reality (AR) and computer simulations. While these methods improve conceptual understanding, the transition from naive to scientific models remains challenging. The results highlight the need for interactive, multi-representational teaching methods to promote a more robust conceptual framework in chemistry learning. This review contributes to chemistry education by providing insights into effective pedagogical approaches for addressing misconceptions and improving students' conceptual development.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the implementation of mind mapping and Popplet techniques in the learning of the writing of explanatory texts. The research method involved a qualitative approach to classroom action research. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The research participants were twenty-three students from class XI MIPA at senior high school, with nine students selected as respondents through purposive sampling. The findings of this study indicate that the use of mind mapping and Popplet techniques helped students better comprehend the learning material. Students provided positive feedback on the application of mind mapping and the Popplet app, as they felt these tools assisted them in the process of writing explanatory texts. The use of mind mapping facilitated students' idea organization, while Popplet enabled the visualization and digital presentation of explanatory texts. The findings indicate that combining mind mapping and Popplet can enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of learning to write explanatory texts. This research offers teachers a new tool to employ innovative approaches to writing instruction, facilitating students' comprehension and proficiency.

Abstract

Elementary school students often face difficulties in understanding the concept of building space due to its abstract nature. The use of concrete learning media can help students to more clearly understand the shape and characteristics of spatial shapes, especially when related to everyday life. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The results of questionnaires given to students and educators showed that 98% of students felt it was easier to understand the material when learning media was used effectively. In addition, 92% of teachers recognized that the use of learning media increased students' active participation in class. This research is expected to be a reference to improve the quality of mathematics learning in elementary schools. Therefore, it is expected that teachers can continue to develop and utilize learning media optimally to create more effective and interesting learning.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the extent of parental contribution to student affairs programs at SMP Negeri 1 Tirtomoyo. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method to comprehensively illustrate the level of parental contribution in student affairs management. Data were collected through interviews with the school principal, vice principal in charge of student affairs, homeroom teachers, and representatives of students' parents, along with observations of student affairs activities and document analysis. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and verification to derive accurate conclusions. The validity of the data was ensured through source and technical triangulation. The findings indicate that parental contribution covers five main aspects: 1) Enhancing students' knowledge and motivation, 2) Developing human resources, 3) Increasing social awareness, 4) Encouraging students' interests and talents, and 5) Supporting students' achievements. Parents actively participate in motivating their children, supporting extracurricular activities, and contributing to school funding and promotion through social media. The high level of parental contribution positively affects students' academic performance and the school's reputation, ultimately leading to an increase in student enrollment during the PPDB (new student admission process).
