Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu 1) Agar dapat mengetahui kemampuan memahami struktur kalimat dalam karangan narasi siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 11 Halmahera Utara. 2) Agar dapat mengetahui sejauhmana kemampuan memahami struktur kalimat dalam  karangan narasi siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 11 Halmahera Utara. Metede penelitian yang digunakan yaitu deskriptif kuantitatif dengan instrumen yang digunakan yaitu soal tes, observasi, dan wawancara guru dan siswa. Adapun teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu statistik deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, dapat disimpulkan bahwa Kemampuan memahami ketepatan struktur kalimat dalam menulis karangan narasi siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 11 halmehera Utara pada aspek kemampuan menentukan judul/topik siswa memperoleh nilai rata-rata 5,00%, aspek kesesuaian isi dengan judul siswa memperoleh nilai rata-rata 4,32%, aspek kesatuan dan kepaduan gagasan siswa memperoleh nilai rata-rata 3,56%, aspek ketepatan struktur kalimat siswa memperoleh nilai rata-rata 3,16%, dan aspek penggunaan ejaan yang disempurnaka siswa memperoleh nilai rata-rata 2,27%. Kemampuan menulis karangan narasi berdasarkan beberapa aspek yaitu (1) kemampuan menentukan judul (2) Kesesuaian isi dengan judul (3) Struktur kalimat dasar (4) Struktur SPOK (5) Penggunaan PUEBI.

Abstract

This research was conducted to find out the students’ level of anxiety in speaking, the causes of students’ anxiety and the effect of students’ anxiety to speak in speaking class, and the students’ strategies to cope their anxiety in Islamic Economy department of UIN Alauddin Makassar. The results of this research show that the students of Islamic Economy department of UIN Alauddin Makassar were at middle anxious. Moreover, the causes of anxiety for the students with high level anxiety are lack of practice, lack of confidence to speak, unable to speak in front of public, and fear of negative evaluation of peers. Whereas, the students with low level anxiety experience anxiety during speaking class because of competitiveness. The students with high level anxiety have debilitating anxiety with negative effects while the students with low level anxiety have facilitating anxiety. Nevertheless, the students had their own strategies to deal with their anxiety, for example, keeping silent, avoiding eye contact, and smiling or laughing. In addition, the students with low level of anxiety reduce anxiety by practice and preparation. Besides, to reduce anxiety during speaking class, the lecturers gave them motivation to speak English or told the story or jokes.

Abstract

Peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif dalam penelitian. Peneliti membagikan link kepada siswa yang berisi kuesioner tentang persepsi siswa dalam strategi belajar kemudian siswa mengisi kuesioner melalui google form. Dari hasil tanggapan siswa maka hasilnya pun sudah otomatis masuk di goole form. Setelah itu peneliti menganalisis hasil tanggapan dari siswa. Subjek dari penelitian ini yaitu sepuluh siswa di kelas tiga jurusan keperawatan di SMK N 3 Tikep. Hasil analisis menunjukan bahwa hanya 30% siswa saja yang memiliki strategi belajarnya sendiri, namun meskipun begitu mereka aktif dalam pembelajaran di kelas karna 70% dari mereka menjawab selalu. Berdasarkan hasil tanggapan dari siswa, peneliti dapat menyimpulkan bahwa strategi belajar siswa adalah strategi pembelajaran metakognitif karena siswa mencoba untuk mendapatkan hasil belajar yang baik, strategi pembelajaran meta-kognitif digunakan untuk mengawasi atau belajar bahasa langsung yang melibatkan berbagai proses, seperti perencanaan, memprioritaskan, menetapkan tujuan, dan manajemen diri. Peneliti menyimpulkan strategi meta-kognitif karena dilihat dari hasil tanggapan yang menjawab 80% dari mereka berusaha mendapatkan hasil belajar yang baik, untuk mendapatkan hasil belajar yang baik maka siswa harus merencanakan bagaimana bisa mendapatkan hasil belajar yang baik.

Abstract

The study of descriptive non formal institutions such as English course institutions in the English village of pare Kediri is very to explore. Especially the English village of pare has became an icon of English education tourism. The purpose of this study is to analyze the application of experimental learning through problem solving models to mastery of English at the galaxy institute. The research method used is qualitative research with a case study approach. The result of the study indicate that the application of experimental learning and problem solving is used in the learning process at galaxy institute, which is conveyed in the curriculum and SOP of the institution. So that all units are involved to carry out both institute directors, tutor as well as students. In practice the application of experimental learning must be in accordance with the problem faced by the students and problem solving learning at the galaxy institute means that tutor or educators are present as problem solving so that learning materials and methods are adapted to the needs of students.

Abstract

Pengembangan profesi guru dapat dilakukan dengan salah satunya adalah penulisan karya tulis ilmiah. Atas hasil analisis yang dilakukan pada sepuluh perwakilan guru di sekolah dasar di Kota ternate, teridentifikasi beberapa hal yang menjadi faktor kurangnya pengembangan profesi. Penelitian ini membahas tentang pengembangan profesionalisme guru dalam menulis karya tulis ilmiah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskritpif kualitatif. Hasil analisis data diperoleh dari wawancara, observasi keterlibatan peserta dalam penulisan draft KTI serta kuesioner hasil penilaian peserta terhadap penelitian dan latihan menulis KTI. Hasil wawancara menunjukkan bahwa motivasi, teknik penulisan dan pengumpulan data merupakan hal yang menjadi kendala dalam menulis karya tulis ilmiah. Dari hasil observasi penulisan lima aspek isi karya tulis, semua peserta (100%) menulis latar belakang, rumusan masalah, pengertian, ulasan dan desain dalam metode penelitian. Sedangkan 4 aspek ditulis oleh 9 (90%) peserta yaitu judul, tujuan penelitian, teknik analisis data, deskripsi penelitian. Adapun penggunaan tabel hanya ditulis oleh 8 (80%) responden, 6 atau 60% menulis kesimpulan, dan tidak ada yang menulis saran penelitian. Untuk menilai kebermanfaatan pemberian materi serta latihan penulisan karya tulis yang dilakukan bagi guru-guru diberikan kuesioner dengan 18 indikator. Hasil analisis kuesioner menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 0.2 % responden yang berasumsi bahwa penulisan KTI kurang bermanfaat, 1.5 % responden merespon bermanfaat, dan 7.8% menjawab sangat bermanfaat. Rekomendasi yang dapat diberikan adalah untuk mengembangkan profesionalisme guru dibutuhkan sinergi dari institusi sekolah, muyawarah guru mata pelajaran, pelatihan menulis yang terus menerus bagi guru sehingga termotivasi dalam mengembangkan diri untuk menulis.

Abstract

Saat ini penerjemahan menjadi bidang kajian penting yang dilakukan oleh para peneliti. Salah satu hal yang perlu dikaji adalah teknik penerjemahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui teknik mahasiswa dalam menerjemahkan abstrak dari bahasa Inggris ke bahasa Indonesia. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan analisis isi. Sumber data diambil dari terjemahan mahasiswa. Hasil terjemahan dari bahasa sumber dan terjemahannya dalam bahasa sasaran dicatat kemudian diambil sebagai data untuk dianalisis. Kemunculan teknik penerjemahan diklasifikasikan berdasarkan jenis teknik penerjemahan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa teknik penerjemahan yang diterapkan siswa adalah borrowing, ekivalensi, literal, modulasi, calque, dan adaptasi. Dari semua teknik penerjemahan yang digunakan, teknik borrowing merupakan teknik yang paling dominan digunakan siswa dalam menerjemahkan abstrak bahasa Inggris ke bahasa Indonesia.

Abstract

This article discusses some suggestion and ways to seize the English as a second language (ESL) advantages and compensate for the lack of ready communicative situations outside the English as a foreign language (EFL) classrooms such as in Indonesia to maximize English language learning. This is particularly for lecturers or teachers who play a very important role in facilitating any opportunity for their students to use English in real communicative context in English as a foreign language (EFL) context.

Abstract

This study aims to: 1) lecturers 'activities applied in the classroom and, 2) investigating the difficulties of lecturers in applying English in class, the instruments used are observation and interview results, the results of the study indicate that the lecturers' activities in the speaking class meet all proposed criteria in Flanders’s interaction analysis (FIAC) category which consists of three categories Lecturer activities applied in four semesters include all content in the Interaction Analysis Category Flanders (FIAC).  In which there are three categories of Indirect Talk, Direct Talk and Students Talk. There are lecturer activities starting from the beginning of the class until the end of class learning, such as receiving feelings, praise or encouragement, accepting or using student ideas, asking questions, teaching / give lectures, give direction, criticize or justify authority, student's speech response, student talk initiation, and silence / pause / confusion. From three categories and ten points lecturer one (L1) and lecturer two (L2) has been fulfilled class activities but L1 and L1 admitted that many students have lacked vocabulary in speaking therefore students did not confident in using English in class.

Abstract

Listening is one of the skills in English which should be mastered well by the person who learns it. As the foreign language, it is not easy for the Indonesian students to master this skill. Moreover during the lockdown period of Covid-19 epoch when the students have distance language learning as the government policy, the process of teaching and learning especially teaching listening becomes more difficult. The use of tool is so important to support the process of teaching and learning in this situation. WhatsApp is chosen as the tool in the process of teaching and learning. This study aims to explore the English undergraduate students’ perception of the utilizing WhatsApp as a tool of teaching listening to assist distance language learning. The data were analyzed using questionnaire and interview. After analyzing the data, the research findings show that students have positive perception towards the use of WhatsApp for learning listening. It is an easy, fun, pleasant and good tool to use in the teaching learning process. It makes the students enthusiasm to learn and can help them to get the listening audio material which they must listen easily.
