Abstract

The absence of adequate street lighting due to limited access to the national electricity grid (PLN) not only diminishes residents' sense of security and comfort but also increases the risk of crime and accidents, while obstructing social and economic activities. Although Dusun Palintang, located in Cipanjalu Village, Cilengkrang Subdistrict, Bandung Regency, is already connected to the PLN electricity network, several areas remain without proper street lighting, posing safety hazards for the community, particularly at night. This community service project aims to enhance public safety and support nighttime activities by installing energy-efficient and effective solar-powered street lighting. The implementation method consists of four stages: initial observation, fabrication of streetlight poles, installation of solar-powered streetlights, and training sessions for local residents on the operation and maintenance of the lighting system, including how to adjust the lighting modes. The solar-powered streetlights have been successfully installed and are functioning effectively. This initiative has contributed significantly to improving the quality of life for the local community by providing safer and more comfortable conditions for evening activities.

Abstract

Homeschooling in Indonesia is recognized as an alternative form of education that provides flexibility in the learning process. However, many people still lack a clear understanding of its benefits and challenges, particularly in developing children's practical skills. This community service program aims to develop public speaking and digital media literacy skills among children and adolescents through activities implemented by the Piwulang Becix Community in Yogyakarta. The method used is an interactive approach, including audiovisual media training, social media literacy, and public speaking techniques. Children are introduced to various audiovisual technologies, such as green screens and virtual reality, to stimulate their creativity and engagement in learning. The results of this activity indicate an improvement in children's skills in using digital media more critically and responsibly, as well as increased confidence in speaking in public. However, several challenges are still found, especially anxiety when speaking in front of an audience among some participants. Overall, this program provides a more personal, contextual, and applicable learning experience related to digital media and public speaking. It is expected that this training can serve as adequate initial preparation for children to face the challenges of digital media more wisely and effectively in the future.

Abstract

Bojong Village has a vast coconut plantation potential, which has been planned for utilization and preservation, particularly as a tourist attraction. Coconuts, with their benefits from the roots to the leaves, have long been protected and developed by the local community, including as a producer of Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO). The Bojong village community has been producing VCO using a traditional "fishing" method, resulting in low-quality and low-quantity results. The purpose of this community service activity in Bojong village is to assist in improving the quality of VCO using centrifugation technology. A high-quality VCO will increase added value, thereby supporting the economy and community welfare. Training on VCO production using centrifugation technology was conducted with varying centrifugation times and coconut ages. The training resulted in a VCO with quality that meets SNI 2022 standards. The best VCO was obtained from mature coconuts, centrifuged for 45 minutes at a rotation speed of 2000 rpm. This assistance has improved the quality of VCO produced by the community, particularly in supporting the development of a coconut-based tourist village in Bojong.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the independence and efficiency of PKK women in Kaligading Village through time management training. The main challenge faced by PKK members lies in balancing domestic, social, and economic roles, which often hinders optimal participation in village programs. The method applied was Participatory Action with a community development approach, involving 32 participants consisting of PKK administrators, dasa wisma leaders, and home-based business groups. The training covered the fundamentals of time management, priority setting, daily scheduling, and effective meeting simulations. The results revealed an 85% improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills as measured by post-test, accompanied by behavioral changes in utilizing simple tools such as daily notes and digital reminders. Participants successfully adopted new habits to balance family responsibilities, organizational duties, and entrepreneurial activities. Furthermore, the effectiveness of PKK meetings and programs increased, fostering greater participation and maximizing local potential. In the long term, this program contributes to strengthening PKK’s institutional capacity while opening opportunities for improving family economic welfare.

Abstract

The availability of clean water is a vital need for health and quality of life; however, access in Indonesia remains uneven. This study aims to examine the role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs from construction companies in strengthening clean water distribution infrastructure as an effort to enhance community water resilience. The service method was carried out in a participatory manner by involving the residents of RW 02, Sumurboto Sub-district, the local government, and construction company “X.” Activities included drilling a ±50-meter-deep well, constructing a 3,000-liter water tower, building a pump house, and installing a pipeline distribution system to serve approximately 300 households. The results show that this initiative succeeded in expanding more equitable access to clean water, reducing diseases caused by contaminated water, and easing household financial burdens. In addition, infrastructure management training encouraged community independence in maintaining the facilities. Technical challenges, such as the lack of local expertise and installation issues, were resolved through cross-stakeholder coordination. In conclusion, collaboration between the construction company, government, and community through CSR schemes proved effective in providing clean water access while strengthening community self-reliance toward sustainable water resilience.

Abstract

Community engagement activities in Sambirejo Village aim to develop a sustainable farming concept rooted in the Lumbung Mataraman tradition while supporting local food security and agritourism potential. The program focuses on formulating the concept and design of an Integrated Farming System (IFS) on a one-hectare site that unifies food crops, horticulture, livestock, and aquaculture within a single operational framework. Core Lumbung Mataraman values—mutual cooperation, food independence, and environmental sustainability—serve as the conceptual basis for designing a community-driven agritourism model. Implementation adopts a participatory approach involving field data collection, initial stakeholder discussions, and collaborative concept development to ensure that local knowledge informs the proposed design. The completed project outputs include a master plan, land-use zoning strategies, and system-integration schemes that outline spatial and functional relationships across farming components. These design documents provide a strategic foundation for future implementation phases. Further activities, such as community outreach, technical training, and the application of appropriate technologies, are recommended to strengthen long-term program impact.

Abstract

Church worship spaces are acoustic spaces that require clear sound transmission to support liturgical functions. In many churches, including GKE Imanuel Muara Teweh, natural acoustic conditions and inappropriate loudspeaker (LS) arrangements result in uneven sound distribution, high reverberation time, and low intelligibility. This study aims to evaluate the existing condition of the LS layout and formulate improvement recommendations based on quantitative analysis and simulation using EASE FOCUS 5 software. The study was conducted through mapping of SPL distribution, stereo balance, SPL range, and SPL differences at mid-frequency, accompanied by community participation methods for the decision-making process. The analysis results show that the existing condition has significant sound unevenness with an SPL range of up to 18 dB and a difference in conversational frequencies >6 dB, thus disrupting comfort and hearing clarity. Three LS layout recommendations were simulated: (1) optimization of the existing LS, (2) addition of an 8” LS, and (3) addition of a 15” LS and an 8” LS. Recommendation 3 provided the best results with the most even sound distribution, an SPL range of only 7 dB, and much better sound balance, especially in the wing area. However, this recommendation requires a higher investment cost than the other two options. The results of this study serve as a basis for the church building committee to determine the implementable design by considering the desired acoustic quality and budget availability.

Abstract

As a tourism village, Ponggang faces problems related to waste management that are currently not being handled properly. If not followed up, this will pose a threat to both public health and the potential for damage to the village's natural and environmental attractions. Therefore, this community service aims to empower community groups through the utilization of plastic waste into products with higher economic value (eco-conblock). The methods used in this service include outreach activities aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of partners about the concept of village tourism and training/mentoring activities that involve the active role of community members aimed at increasing technical skills and waste management governance. From the evaluation results, it can be seen that the aspect of community awareness and understanding of good waste management has significantly increased from 3.85 points (good) to 4.47 points (very good). Meanwhile, the aspect of skills and governance has increased significantly on average from 3.39 points (moderate) to 3.68 points (good). In addition, the community service program has also succeeded in building an integrated waste management facility that can later be used sustainably towards Ponggang becoming an independent tourism village.
