Abstract

The balance between human physical and psychological aspects is essential. In today's technological age, many individuals tend to prioritize material possessions, often at the expense of their inner needs. To address this imbalance, it is vital to incorporate spiritual dimensions, especially those that focus on the relationship with God. Sufism, particularly through practices such as the Tarekat Tijaniyah, offers spiritual guidance that enables individuals to attain peace of mind. This study explores the role of spiritual guidance through dhikr within the tarekat as a means of enhancing the spiritual quality of its followers. A qualitative approach, utilizing phenomenological research, is employed to understand the experiences of adherents of Tarekat Tijaniyah in the Pragaan Subdistrict. The findings indicate that through the regular and heartfelt practice of wirid and dhikr, followers experience profound spiritual moments that cultivate admirable qualities such as sincerity, patience, tawakkal (trust in God), and gratitude. This underscores the importance of achieving a balance between the spiritual and material aspects of life, resulting in inner peace and reinforced faith. The spiritual guidance provided by the muqoddam includes enlightenment, counsel, and practical spiritual exercises. The personality and charisma of the muqoddam serve as significant role models, promoting religious discipline and enriching the spiritual and mental lives of the community, ultimately benefiting society as a whole.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the influence of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) on the ethics and morals of students at SDN 02 Lempuyang Bandar, Indonesia. Employing a qualitative methodology, the study gathered data through documentation, interviews, and observations. The analysis of the data was conducted through three primary steps: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Islamic Religious Education significantly contributes to the development of students’ values, including faith, integrity, self-control, accountability, and patriotism. However, the overall effectiveness of this education is limited by a less supportive social environment and a lack of varied teaching methods. To nurture morally conscious students who have a love for their country, it is crucial to adopt innovative teaching strategies in Islamic Religious Education and to promote strong collaboration among the community, families, and schools. This research contributes to the discourse surrounding children's moral development through a value-based education approach, highlighting that Islamic Religious Education should not only be viewed as a cognitive subject but also as a vital tool for character transformation and the fostering of noble qualities from an early age.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the fundraising strategy employed by LazisNU South Metro through the KOIN NU initiative, which focuses on the infaq socialization system. It also explores the supporting and inhibiting factors related to this movement. The study utilizes a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, gathering data through observation, interviews, and documentation. Qualitative data analysis encompasses several stages, including data reduction, data presentation, and the drawing of conclusions/verification. This process systematically organizes, simplifies, presents, and interprets the data to uncover meaningful insights and relevant patterns. The findings highlight two critical points. First, the success of this program is contingent upon effective planning that incorporates specific targets, thorough socialization, and transparent management practices. Regular briefings aimed at motivating field officers and fostering community participation are also essential. Second, systematic supervision and active donor involvement enhance transparency and accountability. Nevertheless, challenges persist, such as a lack of dedicated managers and administrators who are not sufficiently focused on the program's management. Addressing these challenges is crucial for improving overall effectiveness.

Abstract

The study of asbāb al-nuzūl occupies a strategic position in Qur’anic exegesis as a bridge between the revealed text and its historical context. Classical approaches have often emphasized micro-level triggers, specific events or individuals, resulting in narrow and legalistic interpretations. In contemporary Qur’anic discourse, Abdullah Saeed’s Hierarchy of Qur’anic Values calls for an integration of both micro and macro contextual approaches to produce interpretations that are more ethical and socially relevant. This study employs a qualitative methodology based on literature review and analytical hermeneutics. The analytical framework combines micro-textual analysis with macro-contextual examination, evaluated through the lens of the Hierarchy of Qur’anic Values. A case study of Surah al-Nisa’ verse 3 reveals that this integrative approach enables a dynamic reading of normative verses. Specifically, the verse’s apparent permissibility of polygamy is recontextualized as an ethical directive emphasizing justice for orphans and vulnerable women, rather than as a general legal sanction. The findings demonstrate that asba>b al-nuzu>l should not be treated merely as historical annotations but as a hermeneutical tool for rearticulating the Qur’an’s universal values, such as justice, gender equity, and protection of the marginalized, in contemporary contexts.

Abstract

This paper investigates the phenomenon of perennial candidates—individuals who consistently run for local political office but fail to achieve victory. The focus of this study is Salim S. Mengga within the framework of local politics in West Sulawesi, Indonesia. Employing qualitative research methods, this work adopts an in-depth case study approach. Data collection involves interviews, field observations, and documentation, while data analysis utilizes complex time series techniques. The results indicate that the motivations driving perennial candidates, particularly the Mengga clan, are rooted in political clan egoism, a concept deeply embedded in Sulawesi society. The clan's repeated electoral defeats can be examined through institutional theory, which emphasizes their inability to maintain social capital. From the perspective of power theory, political contests are viewed as battles between clans, where victories are predominantly dependent on familial networks, often overshadowing the role of political parties. System theory suggests that the decline in the clan's cultural and symbolic capital adversely impacts their political power. Additionally, political economic theory attributes their failures to a lack of sufficient economic capital within the clan.

Abstract

Leadership remains a debated topic within Islamic discourse, particularly concerning the role of women. This discussion is significantly shaped by traditional interpretations of the Qur'an, which often place women in subordinate positions. This article aims to examine how KH. Ahmad Bahauddin Nursalim offers an inclusive interpretation of women's leadership based on Surah al-Naml, verses 41–44. The study employs a qualitative method alongside a descriptive-analytical approach, with data collected through observation and note-taking from five videos across four accounts featuring presentations by KH. Ahmad Bahauddin Nursalim. The analysis uses Teun A. Van Dijk's discourse analysis theory, which focuses on three key aspects: text, social cognition, and social context. The findings indicate that traditional leadership roles are largely portrayed as favoring men, who are anticipated to be responsible and just, as revealed through textual analysis. The social cognition analysis investigates how KH. Ahmad Bahauddin Nursalim’s interpretation responds to the rising visibility of women in leadership, shedding light on Sharia-based legal perspectives regarding female leadership. Furthermore, in the social context dimension, he contends that women can assume leadership roles as long as they uphold moral boundaries and act justly. The study also highlights the crucial role of social media in disseminating contemporary religious discourse and shaping public reactions to Qur'anic reinterpretations in the digital age.

Abstract

Islamic education has been a main pillar in shaping Islamic civilization since the time of the Prophet Muhammad, and it was further developed by caliphs after him. The period of the al-Khulafāʾ al-Rāsyidūn (632–661 CE) marked a significant phase in the continuation and advancement of Islamic education after the revelation ended. This article aims to describe the educational patterns and analyze the role of each caliph in the development of education. The research employs a qualitative method with a literature review approach, examining primary and secondary sources such as historical texts, tafsir works, and academic literature. The study focuses on the educational policies and contributions of Abū Bakr aṣ-Şiddīq, ‘Umar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb, ‘Uśmān ibn ‘Affān, and ‘Alī ibn Abī Țālib. The findings reveal that each caliph adopted strategic approaches in fostering education, including the codification of the Qur'an, the establishment of knowledge institutions, and the promotion of critical thinking. The results show that the Islamic education system was structured and transformative from the beginning. This study contributes to the academic discourse on Islamic educational history and offers insights for developing educational models rooted in authentic Islamic values. These findings are essential as a historical foundation for designing contemporary Islamic education.

Abstract

The cultivation of good character, or Akhlāqul Karīmah, needs to begin at an early age since childhood is crucial for character development. However, in Purwosari Village, Lampung, Indonesia, many children still show a lack of respect for their parents, teachers, and peers. This study aims to assess the role of TPA Al-Ikhlas in promoting moral values among early childhood learners. The research employs a qualitative approach, gathering data through observations, interviews, and document analysis. The data were analyzed in three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. To ensure validity, triangulation techniques were used. The results indicate that TPA Al-Ikhlas plays a positive role in shaping children's morals through the teaching of the Qur'an, prayer procedures, and moral lessons. Methods of instruction include lectures, habituation, modeling behavior, and supervision. Factors supporting this effort include parental and community support, while challenges arise from the unrestricted use of electronic media and negative social influences.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of zakāt māl by the Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ) of Bukit Kemuning Subdistrict, North Lampung Regency, from the perspective of Islamic management. The research focuses on four key managerial functions: planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the UPZ has implemented a structured zakat management system, including the preparation of an Annual Work and Budget Plan (RKAT), the establishment of operational divisions, and the implementation of both consumptive and productive distribution programs. However, several challenges remain, such as low public literacy regarding zakat, limited human resources, and low participation of zakat payers (muzakkī) through official institutions. The zakat utilization strategy is directed toward the economic empowerment of beneficiaries (mustaḥiq) through micro-enterprise capital assistance and business mentoring. Supervision is conducted in multiple layers by BAZNAS, the Inspectorate, and the Ministry of Religious Affairs to ensure accountability and compliance with Islamic law. This study recommends strengthening zakat education, enhancing institutional capacity, and optimizing productive programs to realize effective, transparent, and impactful zakat management for the long-term welfare of the ummah.
