Abstract

Emergency cases requiring basic life support (BLS) are often found in the Emergency Department. Knowledge of BLS is very important for students, especially in the final year who are doing internships in hospitals. The purpose of this study was to describe the level of knowledge of BLS in final year students of the Diploma 3 Nursing Study Program in Indonesia. This study used a descriptive research design with a quantitative approach. The sample of this study was 203 students taken using the cluster random sampling technique. The research variable was the level of knowledge of BLS. The research instrument was a knowledge questionnaire. Data analysis used univariate analysis in the form of frequency distribution and percentage. The results showed that most students in Indonesia had a good level of knowledge of BLS of 73.8%. Regular simulations and exercises are expected to increase the confidence of students who already have good knowledge in carrying out BLS.

Abstract

Bayuangga Terminal, the largest Type A passenger terminal in Probolinggo City, has seen a significant rise in passenger and bus traffic. Despite this growth, its circulation system remains inefficient and does not meet Type A terminal standards, hindering infrastructure development. This study focuses on improving transportation connectivity through architectural and spatial analysis of the terminal’s circulation, where irregular intersections between bus and pedestrian corridors pose safety risks. Methods include literature review, field observations, and interviews with the Terminal’s Technical Management Unit (UPT). Results highlight the critical safety issue caused by overlapping bus and passenger lanes. Recommendations involve separating pedestrian and vehicle lanes, redesigning bus routes, and upgrading passenger facilities. These interventions aim to optimize circulation, enhance user safety, and improve operational efficiency. Implementing these measures will help Bayuangga Terminal meet Type A standards and better serve its growing user base.

Abstract

This study discusses the media framing war in the news of fuel adulteration by Pertamina in February 2025. The main focus of the study is a comparison of framing carried out by the online media Tempo.com and the Instagram account @TotalPolitikcom. This study uses a qualitative approach with the Robert Entman (1993) framing model analysis method, and is based on the theory of media reality construction. The results of the study show that Tempo.com frames the issue structurally, with a focus on improving the monitoring system and energy policy reform. Meanwhile, @TotalPolitikcom uses emotional and populist framing, which emphasizes elite betrayal and encourages public participation through social media. The construction of reality produced by both media shows the fragmentation of public narratives in responding to strategic issues.

Abstract

Upcycling clothing is a sustainable strategy that reduces fabric waste. We offer upcycle by transforming used consumer denim into new clothing, thereby enhancing its elegant aesthetic value. The choice of denim as the primary material for this study stems from an understanding of the detrimental effects of textile waste on the environment and the lack of sustainable fashion practices, particularly in terms of recycling. This again offers an opportunity to reduce textile waste, save resources, and encourage awareness of sustainability in fashion. The fashion industry, constantly producing new products every season, contributes to the existence of textile waste. Upcycling, a process that transforms old clothes or textile waste into fashion products with high artistic value, is one way to reduce the environmental impact of the fashion industry. The success of this study resulted in the creation of fashion products that not only enhance their artistic value but also contribute to the growth of the fashion industry's creative sector. The purpose of this applied research on the theme of upcycling is to present practical examples of upcycling from denim and patchwork materials, aiming to create sustainable designs by repurposing unused clothing. This applied research produces a fashion collection that is not only contemporary but also sustainable, consisting of two upcycled fashion products.

Abstract

The prevalence and incidence of diabetes mellitus are both on the rise, making it a continuing problem on a global scale. There are multiple factors that contribute to the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The disease is characterized by the presence of both a genetic component and an equally significant environmental component. A process of chronic hyperglycemia is the first step in the development of diabetes mellitus. This hyperglycemia is caused by the inability of pancreatic beta cells to secrete insulin, as well as insulin resistance in the muscles and the liver. Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 that is not treated with either medication will result in a variety of problems, including chronic consequences such as microangiopathy, retinopathy, nephropathy, and macroangiopathy. These complications can be caused by a number of different factors. The determinants, pathophysiology, diagnosis, management, and complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus are all topics that are covered in this study.

Abstract

Hypertension is known as the "silent killer." Patients are expected to actively engage in self-management behavior to reduce symptoms and the risk of complications. This study aimed to determine the relationship between self-management behavior and blood pressure in productive-aged hypertension patients. The method used was a correlational analytic approach with a cross-sectional design, involving 94 respondents out of a total of 102 through purposive sampling. The instruments used were the hypertension self-management behavior questionnaire and a sphygmomanometer. The results showed that 21 respondents (100%) with good behavior had normal blood pressure, 31 respondents (55.4%) with moderate behavior experienced stage 1 hypertension, and 15 respondents (88.2%) with poor behavior were in stage 2 hypertension. Analysis using Spearman's rank showed a p-value of 0.000<0.05 and an r-value of −0.827. In conclusion, there is a negative relationship between self-management behavior and blood pressure: the better the behavior, the lower the blood pressure.

Abstract

This study aims to develop Bakastif game products at the Raudhatul Athfal institution in Penjaringan District, North Jakarta in stimulating concentration skills for ADHD children. This study uses the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) development model. The research location was at Raudhatul Athfal, North Jakarta, involving four ADHD students from three Raudhatul Anfhal institutions as samples in the study. Data were obtained through interviews, observations, expert validation tests, feasibility and effectiveness tests in the field. The results of the study showed that teachers faced limitations in utilizing APE due to the lack of facilities that were in accordance with the conditions, needs and characteristics of ADHD children. The validation results by PAUD experts, learning media experts, and curriculum experts showed that this Bakastif game tool was feasible to use, with an average score of 84% (Very Feasible category). Implementation in three RAs showed that the Bakastif game tool was effective to use, with an effective standard of "Feasible" as a children's educational game.

Abstract

This study investigated how the "Brainstorming of Recognizes Stages in a Group" method encouraged students’ motivation to speak English, focusing on both intrinsic and extrinsic aspects. Conducted through Classroom Action Research (CAR) in two cycles at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Pontianak, the study involved 35 eleventh-grade students. Data were gathered using field notes, questionnaires, and observation sheets. The average motivation score improved from 2.8 (unmotivated) in the first cycle to 3.23 (moderate motivation) in the second cycle, indicating a 44.39% increase. Students who were initially passive and afraid of making mistakes became more active, confident, and engaged in expressing their ideas. The method also promoted respect and collaboration among students in group discussions. These findings indicate that the Brainstorming of Recognizes Stages in a Group effectively enhances students’ motivation to speak English
