Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Group Counseling with a Transactional Analysis approach in overcoming aggressive behavior. The type of research used is library research, namely by reviewing and analyzing various relevant literature related to the topic of discussion. Transactional Analysis is an approach to counseling that emphasizes communication patterns between individuals as a reflection of a person's psychological condition. This approach is considered appropriate for group counseling because group dynamics provide space for individuals to interact and improve unhealthy transactional patterns. In this context, the form and method of communication displayed by group members are the main indicators for identifying and dealing with problems that arise, including aggressive behavior. Aggression itself is an individual's drive or tendency to hurt others, either physically, verbally, or psychologically. Through Transactional Analysis-based group counseling, individuals can be invited to recognize dominant ego states, manage emotions, and build healthier and more constructive communication. The results of the study indicate that this approach has great potential in helping individuals reduce aggressive behavior by increasing self-awareness and interpersonal skills. Keywords: Group Counseling, aggressive behavior, Transactional Analysis.

Abstract

AbstractThis study examines the effectiveness of ProblemBased Learning (PBL) method in classroom guidance services to reduce bullying behavior at SMP Negeri 1 Jepon. The background of this research is the high number of verbal bullying cases among eighth-grade students. This research used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design (one group pretest-posttest). The research sample consisted of 20 students who showed a high tendency of bullying behavior. Data were collected through bullying behavior questionnaires, observation, and interviews. The results of the analysis showed a significant decrease in the average bullying score after the PBL service was provided. This proves that the application of the PBL method in classroom guidance is effective in reducing bullying behavior. This study recommends the structured implementation of PBL-based classroom guidance services as an innovative alternative in bullying prevention at school. Keywords: Problem Based Learning, classroom guidance, bullying

Abstract

Phubbing behavior is a phenomenon where individuals ignore their conversation partners in direct interactions because they are too focused on their smartphones. This phubbing behavior is increasingly prevalent and has become a serious concern considering its impact on the quality of social interactions and interpersonal development. The influence of smartphone use makes students careless and insensitive to their surroundings. One factor suspected of contributing to the level of phubbing behavior tendencies is peer conformity. Therefore, this study aims to describe and analyze the relationship between peer conformity and students' phubbing behavior tendencies. This study used a quantitative method with a descriptive correlational research type. The research sample was 208 students using a simple random sampling technique. The instruments used were a peer conformity scale with a reliability level of 0.945 and a student phubbing behavior tendency scale with a reliability level of 0.881. Data were analyzed using Spearman correlation with the JASP 0.19.3.0 program for Windows. The findings of this study indicate that the relationship between peer conformity and students' tendency to phubbing behavior is generally in the moderate category with a Spearman correlation coefficient value of 0.400 (ρ < 0.001). The positive correlation results indicate that the higher the peer conformity, the higher the tendency of students to phubbing behavior. This study recommends the need for comprehensive efforts by school counselors and related parties to develop counseling service plans to reduce the tendency of phubbing behavior. Keywords: Peer conformity, phubbing behavior, smartphone, students, counseling

Abstract

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into education has transformed learning processes by providing efficiency, personalization, and instant access to knowledge. However, excessive reliance on AI may weaken students’ intellectual autonomy and hinder the development of higher-order cognitive skills. While global studies highlight AI’s potential to foster critical thinking when embedded in reflective tasks, little is known about its impact on vocational high school students in developing contexts. This study examines the relationship between AI dependency and critical thinking among 190 twelfth-grade students at Vocational High School 9 Padang, Indonesia. Using a quantitative correlational design with purposive sampling, data were collected through a validated and reliable Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using parametric statistics (Kolmogorov–Smirnov test, linearity test, and Pearson’s correlation). Results indicate that both AI dependency (M = 43.46; SD = 9.89) and critical thinking (M = 51.09; SD = 7.30) were at moderate levels. However, correlation analysis revealed no significant relationship between AI dependency and critical thinking (r = 0.066, p = 0.365). These findings suggest that AI dependency does not inherently contribute to critical thinking development in vocational education. Theoretically, this study extends global discourse by emphasizing contextual differences in AI usage across educational levels. Practically, it underscores the need for balanced pedagogical strategies that leverage AI as a scaffold for reasoning, reflection, and problem-solving rather than as a shortcut for task completion.

Abstract

Islamic Counseling Guidance (ICG) offers a holistic approach to address the limitations of Western psychology, particularly when dealing with issues that involve spiritual backgrounds. This study aims to integrate the concept of Islamic Counseling (ICG) with Western psychology to address modern challenges faced by Gen Z, including Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), self-diagnosed mental health, and hate speech. Through a qualitative method based on library research, the study analyzes various literatures to integrate ICG with Western psychology. The research highlights the importance of tazkiyatun nafs (purification of the soul) through practices such as dhikr (remembrance of Allah), repentance, and worship that engage the qalb (heart) and ruh (spirituality) as core solutions to problems. In contrast, Western psychology focuses on the nafs (self) and aql (intellect), using behavioral and cognitive therapies. The study’s findings suggest that this integration provides effective, holistic solutions, promoting inner peace and improving life quality in accordance with human nature. Future research should quantitatively assess the effectiveness of BKI on a broader population for generalizability across diverse social and cultural groups.

Abstract

The family, as the smallest social unit, plays a critical role in shaping individuals’ personality, values, and social competence, yet modern challenges such as marital conflict, communication breakdowns, and socio-economic pressures often disrupt household harmony. Family counseling services are thus essential to strengthen resilience and provide solutions to complex problems. This study examines the implementation of family counseling services at the Family Learning Center (PUSPAGA) and the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPTD PPA) under the Department of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (DP3A) in Kendari City. Using a qualitative descriptive design, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving counselors and clients, and analyzed with Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, supported by triangulation to ensure credibility. The findings indicate that PUSPAGA provides structured services through registration, assessment, consultation, family visits, counseling, and referrals, supported by techniques such as attending, empathy, reflection, exploration, and questioning strategies. The theoretical foundations applied include Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), which helps clients replace irrational with rational thoughts, and Adlerian theory, which emphasizes social interest and lifestyle modification. While PUSPAGA combines counseling with family education, UPTD PPA focuses on initial assessment and referral of severe cases such as domestic violence and sexual abuse to psychologists or legal authorities. The study concludes that both institutions complement each other in addressing family problems and recommends continuous counselor training, stronger collaboration with professional and legal stakeholders, the use of digital platforms to expand access, and the development of structured SOPs to enhance service consistency and impact.

Abstract

This study explores the role of multicultural counseling in fostering politeness values in schools through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by PRISMA standards. Schools are not only places of knowledge transfer but also spaces for character development, where politeness defined as respect, etiquette, and social responsibility is central to creating a positive learning climate. A systematic search across Scopus, Google Scholar identified 337 records; after screening and eligibility checks, 14 peer-reviewed articles were included. Findings highlight four dimensions: first, cultural narratives and symbols such as Ghanaian Adinkra and Indigenous healing traditions serve as effective means of internalizing respect; second, counselor multicultural competence reduces bias, prevents microaggressions, and builds inclusive relationships; third, conceptual studies affirm respect, empathy, justice, and courtesy as universal counseling values; and fourth, embedding multicultural perspectives into counselor training and school curricula underscores the institutional role of politeness in education. Overall, multicultural counseling emerges as both a preventive and educational strategy that bridges cultural diversity with universal ethical values. By integrating cultural appreciation and value-based practices, schools can systematically cultivate politeness as a cornerstone of character education, ultimately promoting respect, tolerance, and social harmony in diverse learning environments.

Abstract

Abstract

As guidance and counseling teachers, of course we will always meet clients from different cultures. The purpose of this study is to find out if there is a relationship betweena ethnocentrism and student tolerance in multicultural counselling. This study uses a quantitative method using a research instrument developed by ourselves, namely a questionnaire. Data analysis technique used determination coefficient analysis, namely parametric statistics with Pearson correlation test to find out how strong the relationship between ethnociticism variables and student tolerance attitudes, using SPSS Statistics 26 software. The sample in this study is 33 students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and different campus backgrounds. Samples were taken randomly. The results of this study show that there are 4 students with ethnocentrism in the high category, and 29 students have ethnocentrism in the medium category. And there were 31 students who had a tolerance in the high category, and 2 students had a tolerance in the medium category. This shows that although students have moderate ethnocentrism traits of 88%, they are also able to control it, which is evidenced by the high tolerance trait of 94%. In table 5, it is known that the Pearson correlation value (r) is 0.692 with a significant level of >0.05 so it is concluded that there is a positive relationship or correlation between ethnocentrism and student tolerance, based on table 6 the r value of 0.692 is in a strong interpretation. So that the positive level is in a strong relationship. The results of this research are expected to be a reference for future researchers if they want to research the same thing.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and analyze the effectiveness of an Islamic marriage counseling model based on sharia principles as a preventive and curative approach to Muslim family crises. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a case study design involving Muslim couples and Islamic counselors who apply the values of the Qur’an and Sunnah in counseling practice. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings reveal that the application of sharia principles such as sabr (patience), ‘adl (justice), shura (consultation), and rahmah (compassion) leads to meaningful and profound improvements in marital harmony, communication, and spiritual resilience. Sharia-based counseling not only facilitates the resolution of emotional conflicts but also strengthens spiritual awareness and moral responsibility within the household. The integration of Islamic values with modern psychological theories creates a more holistic, contextual, and transformative counseling approach. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the development of Islamic counseling curricula and reinforce the role of counselors as murabbi in nurturing families characterized by sakinah, mawaddah, and rahmah in the modern era.
