Abstract

Rohingya refugees face significant legal uncertainty regarding their status in Indonesia. One of the main issues faced is the implementation of the principle of non-refoulement, which is an international principle that prohibits a country from returning refugees to their home country if they are at risk of torture, inhumane treatment, or the death penalty. This principle is stated in the 1951 Refugee Convention and its 1967 Protocol, which protects refugees worldwide. The methodology of this research is based on a normative legal research approach. This research will also explore the obstacles and constraints to implementing the Principle of Non-Refulement for Rohingya Refugees in Indonesia and the role of international institutions in supporting the implementation of the Principle of Non-Refulement in Indonesia. Indonesia has a relatively weak implementation of the principle of non-refoulement because until now, Indonesia has not ratified the 1951 Refugee Convention and its 1967 Additional Protocol. On the other hand, Indonesia has not made the refugee issue a top priority in state policy. The support of international institutions in supporting the implementation of the non-refoulement principle in Indonesia is vital. Although Indonesia does not yet have comprehensive legal regulations on refugees, global institutions such as UNHCR, IOM, and other non-governmental organizations play an essential role as partners in helping the Indonesian government implement better policies on refugee protection. With technical assistance, advocacy, and funding, international institutions can help Indonesia fulfill its international obligations more effectively and ensure that refugees in Indonesia receive protection by the principle of non-refoulement

Abstract

The implementation of the "Merdeka Belajar, Kampus Merdeka" (MBKM) or “Curriculum Freedom to Learn, Campus Freedom” curriculum in higher education poses challenges in integrating religious and national values, ensuring inclusivity, and adapting to societal changes. This study explores the impact of the MBKM curriculum on shaping citizens with religious and nationalistic characters in Indonesia's higher education system. Utilizing a qualitative research method with a literature review design, the study considers criteria such as relevance, recent publication dates, and diverse perspectives in literature selection. Thematic analysis is employed for data analysis, addressing potential biases through reflexivity and peer debriefing. Findings emphasize the need for continuous curriculum review to align with societal values and regulations. While the focus on Indonesia's higher education system may limit generalizability, discussing variations in cultural and educational contexts would enhance applicability. Ethical and legal considerations in integrating religious and nationalist values are crucial, requiring a thorough discussion to ensure alignment with pluralism and individual rights.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of batik with the Shibori technique in strengthening nationalistic character through the preservation of local wisdom. Batik, as Indonesia's cultural heritage, carries deep aesthetic and philosophical values, while the Shibori technique, originating from Japan, has been adapted by Indonesian batik artisans to create new works that still uphold traditional values. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design, involving interviews, observations, and literature reviews in several well-known batik-producing regions in Indonesia, such as Solo, Yogyakarta, and Pekalongan. The results of the study indicate that the Shibori technique in batik can enrich Indonesian textile art products and strengthen nationalism by fostering pride in local cultural heritage. Furthermore, batik with the Shibori technique also has the potential to introduce batik to younger generations while showcasing Indonesia's cultural richness on the international stage. However, the main challenge is maintaining a balance between preserving traditional techniques and innovating in batik development. The study concludes that Shibori batik plays an essential role in strengthening nationalistic character through the preservation of local wisdom, which can shape the nation's identity and enhance pride in Indonesian culture

Abstract

This research examines digital transformation in political education with a focus on the impact of social media on political literacy and democratic participation of Generation Z in the post-truth era. The post-truth phenomenon characterized by the easy spread of disinformation through social media has created new challenges in political education. The study used a mixed method approach involving 450 students aged 18-24 years from five public universities in Indonesia. Data were collected through online surveys, focus group discussions, in-depth interviews with political education experts, and social media content analysis. The results showed that 78% of respondents relied on social media as the main source of political information, but only 35% had sufficient ability to verify the truth of the information. The study found a significant correlation between the intensity of social media use and the level of political literacy (r=0.67, p<0.01) and the level of democratic participation (r=0.58, p<0.01). Based on these findings, the research proposes a digital political education model that integrates the digital citizenship approach with conventional political education. The model emphasizes the development of information verification skills, critical thinking, and responsible democratic participation in the digital space. The results contribute to the development of political education strategies that are adaptive to digital transformation.

Abstract

This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach that aims to comprehensively and thoroughly describe the phenomenon of sexual violence against children. This research employed digital observation through SIMFONI-PPA (Online Information System for Women and Child Protection) data, which presents real-time information regarding cases of violence against women and children in Indonesia, both verified and unverified cases. Data analysis was conducted by positioning the researcher as the main instrument interpreting events and social situations related to the phenomenon of sexual violence against children. The research findings indicate that the SIPELAS Program (Sila Pendidikan Pelecehan Seksual/Pancasila Principles Sexual Harassment Education) can serve as a strategic solution for preventing sexual violence through the integration of Pancasila values in sexual education. This program is implemented through three systematic stages: teacher training for sexual education, parent training, and material delivery to students with learning media adapted to educational levels ranging from animation for kindergarten level to discussions and webinars for senior high school level. Each principle in Pancasila has relevance in preventing sexual violence, where the values of divinity, humanity, unity, democracy, and social justice can serve as moral foundations in shaping children's character to respect themselves, others, and uphold human dignity.
