Abstract

A fundamental love and devotion for one’s nation, patriotism takes many forms in different cultures and religions. In the framework of Islam, which has more than 1.8 billion adherents worldwide, faith and patriotism interact, offering special opportunities and difficulties. This research investigates Muslim conceptions and manifestations of patriotism, drawing on historical viewpoints, theological underpinnings, and contemporary interpretations of allegiance and national identity. Islamic teachings, which are based on the Quran, Hadiths, and academic interpretations, strongly emphasize defending and preserving one's native territory while promoting social welfare, justice, and harmony. And the well-being of the community. This study emphasizes how social norms, historical narratives, and education all play a part in moulding the sense of patriotism in Islamic environments. The study seeks to offer a thorough knowledge of Islamic patriotism by analyzing the complex relationship between commitment to Islamic values and patriotism. The results imply that when social justice, compassion, and peaceful cohabitation are prioritized, Islam not only accepts but actively promotes patriotism. This well-rounded strategy fosters the peaceful fusion of national and religious identities by enabling Muslims to contribute significantly to their communities while maintaining their religious convictions.

Abstract

Education is one of the most important things in human life. Every human being has the right to receive adequate and equitable education. However, what is happening in Indonesia is the inequality of education for all Indonesian citizens. Apart from that, recently what has been discussed is the education system in force in Indonesia which is considered rigid and ineffective. We can see this from the lagging behind the quality of education in Indonesia compared to other countries. The education system used in Indonesia is not much different from the education systems in other countries. The only difference is mistakes during practice in the field. Many fundamental errors create a gap between the goals of the education system and its implementation in the field. Which ultimately makes all these goals unable to be achieved and completed properly. This research aims to determine the problems of education in Indonesia. The research method used is a qualitative study with a descriptive-analytical approach. The data was collected through in-depth interviews with education stakeholders, including teachers, principals, parents of students, and education experts. The results show that the gap in access to education is still a major problem, especially in remote areas. The uneven quality of education can also be seen in the difference in learning outcomes between schools in urban and rural areas. A curriculum that is not responsive to technological developments and industry needs has also exacerbated this situation. Based on these findings, this study suggests several solutions, including improving educational infrastructure, continuous training for teachers, and revising a more adaptive curriculum.

Abstract

This research aims to develop the concept of the ideal teacher's personality in Islamic education through the integration of classical values proposed by Ibn Sahnun and Azzarnuji with the principles of modern Islamic education. In this context, the research highlights the importance of combining the classical intellectual heritage of Islam with contemporary approaches to create a profile of teachers who can meet the demands of the times while maintaining the moral and spiritual integrity taught by the Islamic tradition. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach. Data were collected through a literature review of the works of Ibn Sahnun and Azzarnuji, as well as an analysis of contemporary literature on modern Islamic education. In addition, in-depth interviews with Islamic education experts were also conducted to get a more comprehensive perspective. The results of the study show that the classical values such as example, sincerity, and wisdom taught by Ibn Sahnun and Azzarnuji are still very relevant and can be integrated with modern educational concepts such as professional competence, innovation, and a student-centred approach. The development of the personality of this ideal teacher not only strengthens the morality and spirituality of teachers but also improves the quality of learning that is adaptive to the changing times. The novelty of this study lies in an integrative model that combines classical and modern values, which has not been studied in depth before. The implication of this study is the need to prepare a curriculum and teacher training program that prioritizes a balance between the classical heritage of Islam and the needs of today's education so that it can produce teachers who are academically competent as well as noble in character.

Abstract

Objective: This study investigates the key factors influencing student motivation and behavior in higher education, with a specific emphasis on student engagement, counseling, and mental health services. The main objective is to understand how these components contribute to students’ academic and personal development, enhance their learning experiences, and foster a healthy and inclusive campus environment. Theoretical framework: The theoretical framework draws from Self-Determination Theory (SDT), which highlights the significance of autonomy, competence, and relatedness in motivating individuals. Literature review: The literature review supports the role of student-centered support systems, particularly mental health and counseling services, as essential for academic persistence and emotional resilience. Methods: A qualitative research approach was adopted, employing focus groups and in-depth interviews with a diverse set of participants. These included faculty members across various disciplines, professional counselors, mental health practitioners, and students. Results: The study reveals that intrinsic motivation—fostered through an inclusive and supportive academic culture—is a major determinant of student success. Students who actively engage in academic and extracurricular activities demonstrate more positive behavior and show higher levels of motivation and resilience. Counseling and mental health services play a crucial role in helping students navigate emotional and psychological stress, thus sustaining their engagement and well-being. Implications: The findings have significant implications for higher education institutions. They underscore the need to prioritize mental health services and student engagement programs as core components of student success strategies. Institutions should create opportunities for leadership, peer support, and inclusive learning to strengthen students’ sense of belonging and community. Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in its integrated perspective, combining academic, psychological, and social dimensions to propose a holistic model for fostering student motivation and behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct a comparative study on the concept of ideal teacher competence according to Al-Ghazali and Abdullah Nashih Ulwan, as well as examine their relevance and application in the modern education system. Teacher competence, which includes aspects of knowledge, skills, and morals, is an important element in shaping the quality of education. Al-Ghazali and Abdullah Nashih Ulwan, as prominent scholars, have made significant contributions in formulating the characteristics of the ideal teacher from the Islamic perspective. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach, where data is collected through an in-depth literature study of the works of the two figures. The results of the study show that although there are some similarities in the views of Al-Ghazali and Abdullah Nashih Ulwan related to the competence of ideal teachers, such as the emphasis on noble morals and mastery of science, there are also differences in the context of their application. Al-Ghazali emphasizes more on the role of teachers in building the character of students and the educational community, while Abdullah Nashih Ulwan focuses more on the aspects of mastery of knowledge and teaching methods. The novelty of this study lies in a comparative analysis that reveals the relevance of the views of these two scholars in answering the challenges of modern education, including in the application of technology and curriculum development. The implications of this research are expected to be a reference for policymakers and education practitioners in formulating teacher competency development strategies based on Islamic values, which are by the demands of the times without ignoring religious principles.
