Abstract

This study aims to improve community skills in processing concrete waste into products with economic value, especially paving blocks, through training activities. Concrete waste which is generally considered useless and polluting the environment, is reprocessed into useful construction materials. The implementation method includes initial observation, training planning, activity implementation, and evaluation of results. Training activities are carried out with a participatory approach, involving the community directly in the process of mixing materials, molding, and drying paving blocks. The results of the study showed that this training succeeded in increasing the knowledge and skills of participants in producing paving blocks from concrete waste. In addition, participants began to see the potential for micro-businesses that could be developed from the results of this training. Economically, this activity opens up new opportunities to increase community income, especially in areas with high unemployment rates and limited access to formal employment. In conclusion, training in making paving blocks from concrete waste has proven effective as an innovative solution in waste management as well as a strategy for empowering the community's economy. It is hoped that this activity can be replicated in other areas as a sustainable effort to create a clean environment and an independent economy.

Abstract

Lately, the growth in the need for animal meat, namely broiler chickens, has increased among the people of Aceh in particular and Indonesia in general. Fulfillment of meat needs also results in side effects caused when the fattening process occurs. With the high amount of chicken meat production, the waste from animals also increases linearly and will cause health effects to the community if not handled properly. The thing that appears in general in chicken farming is the odor caused by NH3 gas, H2S, and other elements. Then usually flies will also be more and more, and this will disturb the environment. The Independent Service Team from Syiah Kuala University is trying to find solutions to this problem. Then, socialization activities to the Aceh Jaya farmer group were carried out on June 27, 2021 and also conducted to establish cooperation in the form of providing information on how to handle chicken waste. There are several activities carried out by the socialization team from USK, namely forming a network, providing knowledge about healthy industrial ecology, socializing waste processes, and demonstrating activity processes so that they can be useful to breeder members. The results obtained from this activity are the establishment of network relationships, sharing of industrial ecology knowledge, quality organic fertilizer products, providing greening effects to the environment. It is hoped that this collaboration will not only stop here and in the future we will continue to socialize with different activities in this Aceh Jaya breeder group.

Abstract

Since the advent of covid-19, hand sanitizers and disinfectants have become essential today. Disinfectants can kill germs or coronaviruses that stick to inanimate objects such as tables, chairs, or other inanimate objects. Therefore, the purpose of community service activities carried out by the service team is to provide an understanding of the importance of maintaining covid 19 transmission and providing skills in making disinfectants using materials commonly used in households, such as floor cleaners, clothes bleach and other antiseptics. The service activity model is empowerment with a method of skill development through training. The results of the activity show that the participants have understood the material that has been provided and the participants have been able to make and practice how to make disinfectants from the ingredients that have been practiced with an understanding level of 76 percent, where participants are expected to be able to apply the material in their daily lives without having to buy it outside, so as to save household expenses. Through questionnaires collected from the training participants, a list of training needs for business development was generated, such as access to cheap raw materials, capital, marketing, and training on how to market online.

Abstract

The difficulty of lecturers in scientific publications is the low level of dedication and research conducted by lecturers. One of the causes of low research among lecturers, especially in the USCND environment, is the lack of national competitive PkM proposals that pass the selection. The purpose of this activity is to improve lecturers' knowledge and skills in compiling national competitive proposals. This community service activity will be carried out in several stages, namely 1) Coordination with all related parties, including the USCND Chancellor; 2) Training on compiling national competitive proposals; 3) Assistance in writing proposals; 4) Focus group discussions on several problems that occur, solutions and follow-up plans. At this stage, a comprehensive evaluation of the activity is also carried out. After participating in this activity, participants are expected to be able to make considerations for the national competitive PkM scheme, utilizing knowledge and information to support plans and facilitate the preparation of proposals.

Abstract

The low quality of the learning process is still a challenge in efforts to improve the quality of education, especially at the educational unit level. This problem has an impact on the achievement of student learning outcomes and the effectiveness of learning activities in the classroom. One strategy that can be used to overcome this problem is the implementation of clinical supervision. Clinical supervision is a professional development approach that focuses on improving teacher learning practices in a collaborative, reflective, and sustainable manner. This community service activity aims to improve teacher competence in designing, implementing, and evaluating the learning process through clinical supervision guidance. The methods used in this activity include training, direct mentoring in the classroom, observation, and reflective discussions between supervisors and teachers. The results of the activity showed an increase in teacher understanding of the principles of clinical supervision and positive changes in the implementation of learning. Thus, clinical supervision has proven effective as a solution to improving the quality of the learning process as a whole.

Abstract

The rapid rise of social media usage among adolescents presents both opportunities and challenges, particularly concerning mental health and digital literacy. In the digital age, adolescents must navigate complex virtual environments while maintaining psychological well-being. This community service program aimed to enhance digital literacy and promote mental health awareness among school-aged adolescents in Aceh. The activity involved 25 participants aged 15–24, drawn from various schools and youth communities. Implemented over two days, the program employed a quasi-experimental design, combining interactive education, case discussions, and role-play simulations. Pre-test and post-test evaluations measured changes in participants' knowledge levels. The results indicated a significant improvement in understanding digital literacy and mental health concepts, as evidenced by a Wilcoxon test result of p = 0.010 (< 0.05). These findings underscore the effectiveness of interdisciplinary educational interventions in equipping adolescents with critical digital skills and emotional resilience in the era of pervasive social media. The program highlights the importance of collaborative efforts among educators, families, and communities in fostering safe, informed, and mentally healthy digital engagement among youth.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to assist the Plantation Service of South Sumatra Province in addressing archive management challenges due to limited and often unstable internet connectivity. The primary archival management application in use is SRIKANDI, which relies on internet access. To mitigate the risks associated with this limitation, a backup system was developed using a simplified Microsoft Access-based Electronic Filing System (EFS) that operates offline. The community service project involved several phases: needs analysis, system design, staff training, implementation, and evaluation. Results showed that the backup system's features effectively supported archival management at the agency, improved retrieval efficiency, and enhanced data resilience against technical disruptions. Staff participating in the training quickly grasped and successfully operated the application.
