Abstract

This study aims to see an overview of the relationship between the level  of self-compassion and empathy in final year students at the State University of Jakarta (UNJ) and Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University (UNTIRTA), and relate it to the urgency of the role of Guidance and Counseling services in universities. The approach used was quantitative descriptive, with a sampling technique using convenience sampling techniques for the number of respondents as many as 110 students (55 from UNJ and 55 from UNTIRTA). This study aims to get an overview and relationship  of self-compassion and empathy in final year BK students. The instruments used are the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) and the Empathy Assessment Scale (EAS). The results showed that the average self-compassion score  in UNJ and UNTIRTA students was 75.64, with a standard deviation of 7.069, which shows a relatively good and stable level of self-concept in both universities. However, there is a striking difference in the level of empathy. UNJ students have an average EAS score of 76.07 with a wide range (36–87), while UNTIRTA students have a lower average EAS score, which is 56.53, with a narrower range (46–61). As many as 86% of students are in the category of moderate empathy, 9% low, and only 5% have high empathy. These findings suggest that although final year students have a fairly good level of self-acceptance, empathic abilities have not been optimally developed. This has important implications for guidance and counseling services, namely the need to prepare intervention programs that are directed at strengthening emotional awareness and empathy through individual, group, and social-emotional counseling.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the innovation of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum at SMAIT Nururrahman, particularly in the aspects of curriculum design, instructional implementation, religious habituation, and the supporting and inhibiting factors that influence its enactment. This qualitative case study involved PAI teachers, the vice principal for curriculum affairs, and students as key informants. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. The findings show that SMAIT Nururrahman integrates the Independent Curriculum with an Islamic-based curriculum emphasizing worship habituation, tahfiz programs, and character centered learning. Innovations are reflected in various learning methods such as discussion, case studies, PBL, PJBL, and the use of digital technology through LMS and interactive media. Religious habituation such as daily Qur’an recitation, congregational prayers, MABIT, and dauroh effectively contributes to students’ spiritual development. Supporting factors include teacher commitment, adequate facilities, and school policies, while challenges arise from limited technological mastery among some teachers and classroom management issues during certain learning hours. Overall, the innovation of the PAI curriculum at SMAIT Nururrahman positively impacts students’ discipline, learning motivation, and religious character.
THE NATURE OF HUMAN BEINGS AND THEORETICAL FACULTIES (THEORY OF SPIRITUAL POWERS) IN ISLAM: AL-NAFS, AL-AQL, AL-QALB, AL-RUH, AND AL-SIRR VS. BLOOM'S TAXONOMY AND SOLO'S TAXONOMY Syahfitri, Selvi; Sodiq, Akhmad

Abstract

Studies on the nature of the human being in Islamic thought position the structure of the soul al-nafs, al-‘aql, al-qalb, al-ruh, and al-sirr as the foundational framework for understanding human potential, development, and spiritual orientation. Meanwhile, in the field of modern education, the Bloom-Anderson taxonomy and the SOLO taxonomy are used to map learners’ cognitive, affective, and psychomotor abilities. The differing paradigms between the Islamic concepts of the soul's faculties and contemporary educational taxonomies open an important epistemological space for dialogue in developing a more holistic learning theory. This article aims to explore the points of convergence and divergence between these two approaches. Specifically, the study seeks to: (1) describe the main structure of the faculties theory in Islam, including the functions of al-nafs, al-‘aql, al-qalb, al-ruh, and al-sirr; (2) compare these concepts with the cognitive hierarchy of Bloom-Anderson and the levels of understanding in SOLO; and (3) identify the potential for integrating the two to develop a value-based and spiritually grounded learning model. The methodology employs library research with comparative analysis of classical Islamic literature and modern educational taxonomies. Data were analyzed using categorization techniques and conceptual theme exploration. The findings show that the faculties theory offers a more comprehensive anthropological-spiritual foundation for understanding human development, extending beyond cognitive aspects toward tazkiyah (purification), moral awareness, and transcendental orientation. While Bloom-Anderson and SOLO emphasize cognitive achievements and structural understanding, the Islamic framework offers ethical and spiritual dimensions that can enrich instructional design. The integration of these paradigms enables the development of an educational model that not only strengthens higher-order thinking skills but also cultivates character, spiritual awareness, and inner harmony.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of academic supervision at SDN 005 Tana Tidung from three perspectives: the principal (supervisor), the supervised teachers, and the students after the teachers received supervision. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation, while data analysis followed an interactive model consisting of data collection, data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The findings indicate that the supervisor carried out the evaluation of academic supervision effectively, covering aspects of effectiveness, feedback, documentation, reflection, and follow-up actions. Teachers perceived the process as beneficial for improving their teaching skills, instructional planning, professional attitudes, as well as their reflective and self-evaluative capacities. From the students’ perspective, supervision fostered a more positive learning atmosphere, enhanced motivation and satisfaction, improved learning outcomes, and contributed to a more conducive learning environment.

Abstract

21st-century science education demands the development of critical thinking skills. However, field realities, such as observations at SDN Dungkek I, indicate that learning remains dominated by textbook dependence without contextual modification. This leads to low student engagement and an inability to connect scientific concepts with local culture. This study aims to analyze the potential and effectiveness of integrating ethnoscience into science modules to improve students' critical thinking skills. The study employs a descriptive qualitative method using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach based on Cooper's (2016) model. Data were collected from accredited databases such as Google Scholar, DOAJ, and GARUDA, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s techniques. The review results demonstrate that ethnoscience integration has a significant positive impact across educational levels: at the primary level (SD), it helps visualize abstract concepts into concrete ones; at the junior secondary level (SMP), it trains students to verify myths versus scientific facts; and at the senior secondary level (SMA), it strengthens argument evaluation and complex data interpretation. It is concluded that ethnoscience-based learning, particularly when combined with Problem-Based Learning (PBL) or Deep Learning models, effectively transforms students into active learners capable of valid scientific reasoning and inference based on local wisdom.

Abstract

Subjective well-being among vocational high school students from low socio-economic backgrounds represents a critical issue in vocational education, as it is closely related to psychological readiness, learning motivation, and academic adjustment. This study aimed to examine the relationship between self-esteem and self-efficacy with subjective well-being among vocational high school students from low socio-economic families. A quantitative approach with a correlational research design was employed. The participants consisted of 250 vocational high school students selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through subjective well-being, self-esteem, and self-efficacy questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using parametric statistical techniques, including correlation and multiple regression analyses. The results indicated that self-esteem had a positive and significant relationship with subjective well-being. Similarly, self-efficacy was found to have a positive and significant relationship with subjective well-being. Simultaneously, self-esteem and self-efficacy significantly contributed to students’ subjective well-being. These findings suggest that internal psychological factors play an essential role in shaping students’ subjective well-being, particularly among those facing socio-economic constraints. This study highlights the importance of strengthening self-esteem and self-efficacy through school-based guidance and counseling services as a strategic effort to enhance the subjective well-being of vocational high school students from low socio-economic backgrounds. The findings are expected to provide empirical evidence for the development of more contextual and sustainable psychological intervention programs in vocational education settings.

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has brought significant changes to the global educational landscape, particularly in learning design, the role of educators, and students’ learning experiences. This study aims to systematically analyze the role and implications of AI implementation in education by emphasizing the integration of pedagogical, technological, and philosophical dimensions, especially within the context of Islamic education. This research employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, examining internationally reputable articles indexed in Scopus Q1 journals. The findings indicate that AI contributes to the development of adaptive, personalized, and data-driven learning through smart learning environments, intelligent tutoring systems, and learning analytics. However, the adoption of AI also raises ethical, epistemological, and pedagogical challenges, particularly concerning the potential reduction of teachers’ roles, algorithmic bias, and the commercialization of education. The integration of the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework with constructivist and transformative learning theories is essential to ensure that AI functions as a pedagogical support tool rather than a substitute for educators. The novelty of this study lies in its conceptual synthesis between AI in Education and the philosophy of Islamic education, which emphasizes a balance between technological rationality, spiritual dimensions, and character formation. This study concludes that value-based AI implementation can support a humanistic, ethical, and sustainable educational transformation while remaining relevant to the challenges of 21st-century education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between social support and resilience with students’ subjective well-being through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The review analyzed three peer-reviewed articles published within the last five years that met specific inclusion criteria. Findings reveal that social support from family, peers, and the academic environment plays a crucial role in enhancing both resilience and students’ subjective well-being. Resilience acts as a mediator that strengthens the effect of social support on well-being, showing that highly resilient individuals are better equipped to cope with stress and maintain psychological health. The reviewed studies consistently demonstrate that social support and resilience significantly contribute to life satisfaction, positive emotions, and students' mental well-being. These findings highlight the importance of developing social support-based interventions and resilience training as strategic efforts to enhance adolescents' subjective well-being within educational settings.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of Islamic Religious Education values into the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model as an effective pedagogical approach in shaping the religious character of students. The method used in this study is a literature review, which includes an analysis of literature related to the application of PBL and IRE values. The results indicate that through learning focused on contextual problem-solving, active participation, and reflection on Islamic values, students not only enhance their intellectual skills but also experience a deep internalization of spiritual values. The PBL model creates a collaborative, transformative, and meaningful learning environment, making the development of religious character a practical reality in daily life. Therefore, the systematic integration of PAI values and PBL is essential to address the challenges of character education in the complex and digital modern era.
