Abstract

Epistemology, as a theory of knowledge, is the foundation of every scientific tradition in understanding the nature of truth, the sources of knowledge, and the methods of its validation. This article examines the fundamental differences between Islamic and Western epistemology through a literature review approach and a critical analysis of contemporary literature. In Islamic epistemology, revelation is positioned as the highest, absolute source of knowledge, while reason and experience serve as instruments for interpreting and strengthening human understanding. In contrast, modern Western epistemology rests on rationalism, empiricism, and criticism, emphasizing the independence of reason and empirical verification as the basis of scientific truth. These paradigm differences result in different orientations of science: Islamic epistemology integrates moral, spiritual, and rational aspects holistically, while Western epistemology tends to be secular and technocratic. This analysis shows that the dominance of the Western paradigm in modern science has created an ethical and spiritual gap, while Islamic epistemology offers an integrative framework that is more humane and oriented towards the welfare of the people. This article concludes that the integration of the two epistemologies can provide a solution to the problems of contemporary scientific development, particularly in building a science that is methodologically advanced but remains rooted in moral values and transcendental dimensions.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategies of Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers in optimizing services at SMPN 3 Tigo Nagari, which faces limited facilities and infrastructure. The school does not have individual or group counseling rooms and does not provide standard assessment instruments such as General AUM, PTSDL AUM, and psychological tests. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data was obtained through interviews with BK teachers, observations of BK facilities, and field documentation. Analysis was conducted through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model. The results indicate that BK services continue to operate through four main service components, despite very limited facilities. BK teachers implement five strategies: the use of digital technology, the use of the living room as a counseling room, the implementation of classroom services, collaboration with homeroom teachers and subject teachers, and the use of simple media. The study concludes that BK teachers' creativity and adaptability play a significant role in maintaining service effectiveness in conditions of limited facilities.

Abstract

The primary goal of education is to improve the quality of student learning. This is not solely dependent on academics but also involves their psychological, social, and emotional well-being. This is where guidance and counseling services play a crucial role, helping students overcome learning barriers and optimally develop their potential. This article aims to discuss the importance of managing guidance and counseling services to improve the quality of student learning in schools. This research utilizes a literature review method through a search of relevant books, journals, and scientific articles. The study's findings indicate that effective guidance and counseling management must be implemented through the functions of planning, organizing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs. Regularly managing these services supports the creation of a conducive learning environment, increases student motivation, and strengthens their social and emotional skills. Furthermore, guidance and counseling services have been shown to contribute significantly to improving student learning outcomes and personal development. Therefore, a structured and professional approach to managing guidance and counseling is a crucial foundation for efforts to improve learning quality and achieve comprehensive educational goals.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the perspective of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Medan City in interpreting the concept of disaster, as well as how this understanding influences the implementation of duties and cross-agency coordination. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with BPBD Medan City officials and documentation studies of relevant policies and legislation. The results of the study indicate that BPBD Medan City possesses a conceptual understanding consistent with Law Number 24 of 2007 on Disaster Management; however, there remains a gap in understanding at the community level. BPBD serves as the main command, coordinator, and executor of disaster management efforts and forms integrated teams according to the type of disaster occurring. Nevertheless, the low level of community literacy regarding the meaning of disasters often leads to misconceptions about BPBD’s responsibilities.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze how digital transformation and digital technology drive corporate entrepreneurship in incumbent companies. The method used is a narrative literature review of books, articles, and academic journals published between 2018 and 2025 that discuss digital transformation, the utilization of digital technology, and corporate entrepreneurship mechanisms. The study results indicate that digital technologies—such as cloud computing, big data analytics, artificial intelligence, and collaborative platforms—serve as an innovation infrastructure enabling rapid experimentation, cross-functional collaboration, and data-driven decision-making. This technology has been proven to foster intrapreneurial behavior and strengthen the process of creating new value. Beside technological aspects, the effectiveness of corporate entrepreneurship is significantly influenced by organizational factors such as ambidextrous leadership, mature digital governance, and agile-based intrapreneurship programs. External collaboration thru partnerships with startups also plays a crucial role in accelerating innovation, as long as the organization can manage the integration of knowledge and differences in institutional logic. Overall, this review confirms that digital transformation and corporate entrepreneurship are two mutually reinforcing strategic agendas for enhancing organizational competitiveness. Harmonious integration between digital technology, governance structures, agile culture, and visionary leadership is key to maximizing the potential of corporate entrepreneurship in the digital age.

Abstract

This study examines the mechanism of Islamic Coin as a sharia-compliant cryptocurrency developed to align with the principles of Islamic commercial jurisprudence (fiqh muamalah). The emergence of Islamic Coin responds to the growing interest of Muslim communities in halal digital assets and the need for modern financial instruments that uphold justice, transparency, and the avoidance of gharar, riba, and maysir. Using a qualitative approach and a case study method, this research analyzes the concept, operational structure, and sharia compliance level of Islamic Coin operating within the HAQQ Network. Core mechanisms such as the Shariah Oracle, the Proof of Stake model, and the allocation of social funds through the Evergreen DAO demonstrate efforts to establish a sharia-based digital ecosystem. However, challenges arise from limited adoption, lack of user experience, and the need for clearer contractual agreements to ensure that transactions are not merely labeled as “sharia-compliant” but truly adhere to Islamic legal principles. The findings indicate that Islamic Coin holds potential as a halal and equitable digital financial instrument, though further enhancement in regulation, education, and mechanism transparency is required for broader acceptance among Muslim communities.

Abstract

This study examines the History of Religious Tolerance: A Case Study in Perbulan Village, Laubaleng District, Karo Regency. The purpose of this research is to describe the history and development of religions and to analyze the forms of religious tolerance in Perbulan Village, Laubaleng District, Karo Regency. The method used in this study consists of heuristics (source collection), verification (source criticism), interpretation, and historiography (writing), based on field research and literature review. The results show that the people of Perbulan Village belong to a pluralistic community, both ethnically and religiously. Christianity and Islam have developed in this village since the early 20th century. The emergence of Christianity in Perbulan Village is inseparable from the role of European missionaries, and during the independence era it continued through evangelists from the Karo ethnic group itself, particularly through various church organizations, especially the Batak Karo Protestant Church (GBKP). Meanwhile, the emergence of Islam in Perbulan Village is closely linked to preachers from Aceh, which was later continued by preachers from the Karo ethnic group, especially the figure of Syaikh Sulaiman Tarigan (1887–1961), and later supported by preachers sent by Islamic mass organizations such as Al-Jam’iyatul Washliyah, Muhammadiyah, Ittihadiyah, and other groups up to the present day. In terms of tolerance values, the community is bound by kinship systems such as rakut sitelu, merga silima, and tutur si waluh jabu, which help prevent social obstacles and horizontal conflicts in community life despite their religious differences.

Abstract

The covenant is a fundamental pillar in the Islamic economic structure (muamalah), whose essence is to ensure that all transactions run fairly and are free from prohibited practices, especially riba, gharar (uncertainty), and maisir (speculation). Digital disruption through Financial Technology (Fintech) gives rise to innovations such as Fintech Syariah, which includes a Sharia-based Peer-to-Peer Lending (P2P Lending) platform, one of which is Duha Syariah. This study focuses on an in-depth analysis of the compatibility of the agreements implemented by Duha Syariah with the framework of Sharia Economic Law, especially referring to the DSN-MUI Fatwa No. 117/DSN-MUI/II/2018 and the regulation of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) through POJK No. 10/POJK.05/2022. By using a normative legal approach, the research results indicate that Duha Syariah which has obtained official permission from OJK and is under the supervision of the Syariah Supervisory Board (DPS) consistently applies commercial agreements such as Murabahah (for goods-based financing) and Ijarah (for financing services), as well as the Wakalah bil Ujroh agreement in the platform's operational scheme. This transaction model rigidly requires the existence of a clearly identified underlying asset (specified), so that it is substantively able to nullify the element of usury.
