Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the world of education to change its system and use a new paradigm to deal with emerging problems. All levels of society must prepare themselves to do online activities by utilizing technology in order to learn from home. The learning using online media which provides opportunities for students to develop themselves independently, guided by teachers in distance learning through online classes. Many new problems arise, not only faced by students but also by parents and teachers. This is because they are not familiar with distance learning. The problem faced by teachers is that it is difficult to control students let alone make them study seriously and effectively. English as a foreign language is a big problem for students and parents to carry out learning without direct teacher assistance. Moreover, narrative text is a difficult material for students of SMPN 2 Tasikmalaya to master. The researcher found that the learning by doing method initiated by John Dewey would help students to better understand narrative texts. The learning by doing learning method is a learning method based on the philosophy of pragmatism. Researchers tried to apply this method to grade 9A students of SMPN 2 Tasikmalaya in the 2021-2022 school years. After applying the method initiated by John Dewey, there was a significant improvement in the ability to understand narrative texts. This can be seen from the value they get. The increase in value reached 31.4%.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of nature-based science learning on the cognitive development of early childhood students at TK IT Nada Ashobah Wiyung Surabaya. The research method used is a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study consists of all group B children at TK IT Nada Ashobah, totaling 15 children. The sampling technique used is saturated sampling. The sample consists of 15 group B children. The results show a significant improvement in children's understanding of plant parts after the treatment. The pretest indicated that most children were in the "Starting to Develop" category, while the posttest showed an increase, with the majority of children in the "Developing Very Well" category. The Wilcoxon test showed an Asymp (2-tailed) value of 0.001, indicating that nature-based science learning has a significant impact on children's cognitive development. The study concludes that the nature-based learning approach is effective in enhancing children's understanding and interest in science and recommends integrating this method into the early childhood education curriculum.

Abstract

This introduction discusses the importance of early childhood education in shaping the growth and development of children, especially in cognitive development. The golden period of childhood, particularly at the age of 5-6 years old, is a crucial time in forming personality and understanding of the surrounding environment. One important aspect to develop during this period is cognition, which involves various abilities such as attention, memory, and logical thinking. Science learning activities, especially through gardening methods, are an interesting approach to enhance the scientific understanding of young children. Through these activities, children can learn in a fun and contextual way while developing science process skills and understanding of the environment. The subjects of this research are 3 children aged 5-6 years old. The research method used is qualitative, involving observation, interviews, and literature studies to gain a deep understanding of the influence of gardening activities on the scientific knowledge of young children. Data analysis techniques use data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that gardening activities have a significant impact on the development of children, both in terms of knowledge, skills, and attitudes. This indicates the importance of introducing scientific concepts to young children through fun and relevant approaches to their daily lives.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of a volcanic eruption experiment on the cognitive development of early childhood students at TK Al-Hikmah Ketapang Banyuwangi. Using an experimental method with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest design, the sample consisted of 15 children from group B1. The results showed a significant increase in the children's cognitive abilities after the treatment. Before the treatment, most children were in the "Not Yet Developed" and "Starting to Develop" categories. After the treatment, there was a significant increase to the "Developing as Expected" and "Developing Very Well" categories. The Wilcoxon test indicated that this experiment positively influenced the children's cognitive development. Nature-based science learning not only enhances cognitive abilities but also motivation, social skills, and both physical and mental health of children. This method is effective in integrating direct experiences with the natural environment to prepare children for future challenges.

Abstract

Gross motor development is very important for children. The development of children's gross motor skills requires assistance from educators in educational institutions. The ability to carry out movements and physical actions for a child is related to self-confidence and forming a self-concept. One way to maintain body fitness is through rhythmic exercise. Rhythmic gymnastics are gymnastic movements or free movements accompanied by music that matches the rhythm that follows the movements. Rhythmic gymnastics aims to develop movement abilities, such as developing muscle endurance, strength, flexibility, agility and balance through physical activities, namely playing and exercising which are carried out systematically, directed and planned. Children who are directly involved in rhythmic gymnastics activities will develop flexibility and coordination. To improve a child's gross motor skills, training is needed that is appropriate to the child's characteristics. Gross motor development will be optimal if physical activities are carried out to stimulate it. First, perform coordinated body movements to train flexibility, balance and agility. Second, coordinate the movements of the legs, hands and head in imitating dance or gymnastics. Third, play a physical game with rules. Fourth, be skilled in using your right and left hands. Fifth, carry out personal hygiene activities.

Abstract

This article addresses key aspects such as body position, hip rotation, and core strength with physical and mental exercises that contribute to stronger punches and hitting accuracy. Through implementing these strategies, players can develop more effective shots and improve their ability to control and dominate the court. Combining the right technique and training will be the key to achieving superior hitting power in tennis. Court tennis forehand technical skills include open skills. Open skills are movement skills where the implementation occurs in changing environmental conditions, and the actor moves according to the stimulus that arises. Temporal and special changes in environmental conditions will stimulate students to move. When students perform forehand movements, they will adjust the incoming ball so that they can adjust the position of their feet, bet and starting point in executing their forehand. The drill method for forehand strokes is a movement that is done with a sprint movement to move forward or obliquely forward, a step to the right, left side, and a backward movement to move backwards and obliquely backwards. Thus, if training using the drill method is carried out seriously and according to instructions, it will be able to improve your forehand ability to become better, so that during games or matches it will be an advantage for scoring points.

Abstract

The process of learning activities currently follows technological developments, one of which is learning via the internet. One effort to overcome students' passive attitude is to increase students' involvement in learning through the use of learning media. There are many learning media that can be used in the learning process, especially in science subjects. This includes images, videos and animated media and can use existing school infrastructure to provide these media. One of them is the use of social media-based learning media. Instagram social media is very suitable as an online learning medium because Instagram is very easy to use and is an application that is familiar to the millennial generation. The use of Instagram as a learning medium has emerged as an alternative solution in improving the quality of learning in the current digital era. Instagram social media is very fast in conveying information and easy to access by students. Using Instagram as a learning medium can also increase student participation in learning activities. With more intense interaction and attractive visuals, students will be more motivated to learn.

Abstract

Dyslexia is a specific learning disorder known for difficulties in the acquisition of reading skills, especially in terms of reading speed and fluency as well as text comprehension. The disorder is neurological in nature and often genetic, with affected individuals having difficulties in word recognition, decoding language sounds, and processing and recalling visual and verbal information. Although dyslexia is not related to general intelligence levels, it can affect various aspects of learning and oral and written communication. The study in this research uses the literature research method. The results show that Teachers can overcome the difficulty of learning the Qur'an in dyslexic students by applying multisensory strategies, which involve the use of various senses in the learning process. These strategies include visualization of letters and words, auditory through repeated recitations, and kinesthetic such as writing and arranging letters. It is also important for the teacher to provide motivation and emotional support, as well as modify the pace of learning according to the individual needs of the student, thus creating a pleasant learning environment and minimizing frustration. This personalized approach increases students' confidence in learning the Qur'an and makes it easier for them to overcome the barriers caused by dyslexia.
