Abstract

Simply put, this study was inspired by the phenomenon of students being passive and talking about their findings or opinions. Many students are unable to express themselves, uncomfortable, unconfident, and unsure of what they want to say when they are instructed to participate in class activities. This shows that students' speaking experiences are on average quite negative, which affects their speaking ability. In addition, the teaching methods applied by teachers are less than optimal in fostering the development of students' skills. This study aims to evaluate the strategies applied by teachers in helping students improve their role-playing skills when learning Indonesian. This study applies a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection methods through observation, analysis, and documentation. The findings of the study revealed that the role-playing method helps students understand various difficult concepts through discussions with friends. This method motivates active student involvement and group cooperation, resulting in a collaborative learning atmosphere in the classroom. Speaking skills are defined as the ability to convey ideas, thoughts, or ideas through speech so that they can be understood by others. Activities that support the development of these skills include interaction and communication with people around students.

Abstract

Film serves as a vital medium for reflecting cultural values and functions as an effective tool for intercultural communication. This study explores the differences in communication styles between the Korean and Indonesian adaptations of Miracle in Cell No. 7, focusing on how culture influences the expression of emotions, authority, and moral values through verbal and nonverbal elements. Employing a mixed-method approach, this research integrates qualitative thematic analysis (Braun & Clarke, 2006) to examine key scenes, along with quantitative coding to statistically compare communicative elements. Hall’s (1976) theory of high-context and low-context communication provides the main theoretical framework to understand the intercultural distinctions between the two versions. The results show that the Korean adaptation relies more heavily on gestures (53.33%), such as physical aggression and exaggerated movements, while the Indonesian version (42.86%) places greater emphasis on verbal articulation and religious expression. Dramatic tonal shifts are more common in the Korean version (26.67%), whereas the Indonesian adaptation (28.57%) maintains a more controlled tone of voice. Facial expressions are more exaggerated in the Korean version (6.67%), particularly in scenes involving authority, while the Indonesian characters (9.52%) display subtler and more restrained expressions. Implicit communication, including religious symbolism, is more prominent in the Indonesian adaptation (19.05%), incorporating Islamic prayers and teachings, whereas the Korean version (13.33%) subtly includes Christian elements. This study reveals that while both adaptations reflect high-context communication cultures, the Korean version emphasizes physical expressiveness and hierarchical interaction, while the Indonesian version highlights verbal communication, religious themes, and emotional restraint. These findings reinforce the role of cinema as a medium for identity representation and cross-cultural understanding.

Abstract

Song lyrics as a form of literature have an important role in conveying emotional and social messages to listeners. The song “Bertaut” by Nadin Amizah is an example of a work that describes the emotional relationship between a child and his mother, which can be analyzed through a hermeneutic approach. This approach allows the interpretation of song lyrics not only based on literal meaning, but also through social, cultural, and individual experience perspectives. The purpose of this study is to uncover the meaning of love and warmth contained in the lyrics of the song “Bertaut” by applying hermeneutic theory, especially Hans-Georg Gadamer's fusion horizon, to understand the emotional dynamics in mother-daughter relationships. Through qualitative methods, this study found that the song is full of symbolism and metaphors, such as “linked heartbeats” and “friendless hedgehogs,” which depict strong inner bonds and relationships that transcend physical dimensions. The song also reflects how Nadin Amizah conveys gratitude and respect for her mother, and how listeners from different backgrounds can feel and interpret the meaning of the song according to their personal experiences. Thus, “Bertaut” is not only a personal expression for the composer, but also a universal work, allowing for deep interpretations from each listener.

Abstract

Digital literacy plays a crucial role in the psychological development of elementary school children, particularly in cognitive, social, and emotional aspects. In today's digital era, children grow up exposed to technology from an early age, making it essential to understand its impact. This study aims to analyze the influence of digital literacy on children's psychology by highlighting both the benefits and challenges it brings. The method used is a literature review, referring to various previous studies that discuss the relationship between digital literacy and children's psychological development. The results show that digital literacy provides numerous positive impacts, such as enhancing critical thinking skills, fostering creativity, and expanding children's communication and social interaction abilities. Access to digital information also enables children to better understand global social issues and develop empathy. However, excessive use of digital technology without proper supervision can lead to negative effects such as gadget addiction, social isolation, concentration problems, as well as exposure to inappropriate content and cyberbullying. Therefore, the role of parents, educators, and policymakers is vital in providing education, supervision, and appropriate guidance to children in using technology. This study emphasizes that digital literacy has a complex influence on children's psychology, requiring a balanced approach to maximize its benefits while minimizing its risks. With the right strategies, digital literacy can become an effective tool to support children's holistic development.

Abstract

This research discusses the role of contemporary music in preserving traditional culture in Ruteng, Manggarai, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara. Contemporary music is an effective medium in bridging traditional values and modern expressions. Using a qualitative approach, this study explores the dynamics that occur in a number of art studios such as Wela Kaweng, Molas Balibelo, Terjang Wero, and Lulu Nai which actively create music and dance works based on local traditions but packaged in a contemporary style. The research results show that contemporary music not only maintains the existence of local musical instruments and motifs such as gong, gendang, kedendik and torok, but also plays a role in transmitting cultural values through digital media and modern performances. Apart from that, contemporary music also encourages community strengthening, expands creative economic opportunities, and supports the development of tourism and cultural education. From a social perspective, this musical art strengthens solidarity between studio members and opens up space for cross-generational collaboration. From an economic perspective, studio activities contribute to MSMEs and income through performances and digital media monetization. In an educational context, studios become interactive learning spaces that instill cultural awareness in the younger generation. Contemporary music in Ruteng has proven capable of adapting to changing times without losing its local cultural roots, making it an inclusive, functional and sustainable cultural preservation strategy. This research recommends the need for continued support from the government and educational institutions to maintain the continuity of local creativity based on traditional wisdom.

This study aims to expand access to understanding the meaningurineand the ethnomathematical values contained therein, which were previously only known by one individual. The approach used was qualitative with ethnographic methods, through observation techniques, interviews, literature studies, and document analysis. The results of the study showed thaturinecontains ethnomathematic elements that are not explicitly recognized as formal mathematical practices, such as the application of basic geometric forms, geometric elements, and geometric transformations. In addition to being an aesthetic expression, urinealso represents a cultural symbol that contains messages of life, moral values, and customary norms, functioning as ancestral advice in preserving cultural heritage.
