Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat dan Riset Pendidikan is a journal on Faculty of Education. Jurnal JERKIN: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat dan Riset Pendidikan is under the auspices of the Faculty of Education, Universitas Pahlawan Tuanku Tambusai. The journal is registered with E-ISSN: 2961-9890. Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat dan Riset Pendidikan is published four times a year in September, December, March and June. Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat dan Riset Pendidikan receives 50 articles per issue. Abstract

Character is a quality that reflects a person's moral and ethical habits, which are manifested through thoughts, feelings, and actions. Honesty is one of the main values in character education, so it needs to be instilled in children from an early age. The development of character values in children can be done with various methods that are fun for children. This study aims to determine how the honesty canteen is a learning medium for developing honest character values in early childhood. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive format. Researchers are the main instrument in collecting data using observation guides based on indicators mentioned by the Directorate General of Non-Formal and Informal Early Childhood Education in 2012 as well as interviews with school principals, educators or teachers and parents. From the results of the study it can be concluded that the honesty canteen can be used as a learning medium for developing honest character values that are effective and innovative in early childhood.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an interactive educational game-based media application that is valid, practical, and effective in improving early childhood students’calistung (reading, writing, and counting) skills. The research was conducted at TK Telkom 1 Palembang with 26 children from Group B as subjects. This study used the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) in the Research and Development (R&D) method. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and interviews and analyzed for validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The validation result showed content exprert scores of 87,06% and 100% language expert 88% and media expert 93,33%, categorized as very valid. The media practicality reached 92%, and effectiveness was confirmed by t-test results (|thitung|= 31,28 > ttabel = 2.009). Therefore, this interactive application can be used as an innovative and fun learning tool to enhance early childhood calistung skill.

Abstract

Routine health check-ups play a crucial role in early detection and prevention of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disorders. This community service activity aimed to provide free health screenings, including blood glucose, cholesterol, and uric acid checks, for elderly residents in RW 03, Utama Subdistrict, South Cimahi District, Cimahi City. Conducted on June 17, 2025, the program involved 52 participants. The results showed that 5.76% had elevated blood glucose, 55.76% had high cholesterol, and 51.92% had excessive uric acid levels. This initiative, supported by local healthcare professionals, intended to raise awareness about the importance of early detection and promote self-care practices. Despite challenges such as limited availability of the implementing team and unpredictable weather, the program was successfully executed. The output of this community service is planned to be published in a nationally accredited journal.

Abstract

Every individual is born with different physical and psychological characteristics, resulting in various responses to life situations. The purpose of this study is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and strategies for social adaptation in introverted children, as well as to identify factors that influence the development of personality and emotional-behavioral disorders in children. This study used a literature review method. The results showed that emotions as an individual's subjective response begin to develop in early childhood, with variations in frequency, intensity, and expression of emotions. Conduct disorders (CD) are characterized by consistent, disproportionate maladaptive behavior and impaired social adaptation function, as well as impulsive characteristics and emotional dysregulation. Children with emotional and behavioral disorders can display internalizing (immaturity, social withdrawal) or externalizing (noncompliance, physical/verbal aggression) behavioral patterns. Introverted personality is characterized by a low need for social stimulation and a tendency to ruminate, which causes difficulties in social adaptation. Various approaches to the treatment of emotional disorders in children have been identified, including behavioral, ecological, socio-cognitive, psychoeducational, psychoanalytic, humanistic, and biogenic. The implication of this study is the emphasis on the need for a holistic and integrated intervention approach in the treatment of emotional and behavioral disorders in children, especially in introverted individuals. An integrative model that combines key elements from various approaches, such as behavioral, cognitive, and biogenic. This shows the importance of individualization of treatment plans, family involvement, and close monitoring of outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to develop interactive learning media for color and black and white photo makeup in the Makeup course. The development process follows the research and development model with the ADDIE model which has stages of needs analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The resulting learning media contains material, learning videos and interactive quizzes designed to be easily accessible and interesting for students. Validation was conducted by media experts to assess the feasibility and quality of the media. The results of the validation test showed that the Canva-based interactive learning media obtained a score of 96%, which was included in the category of very feasible to use as learning media in the Makeup course. This finding shows that the media developed effectively supports the learning process and student understanding of color and black and white photo makeup material.

Abstract

This research aims to describe and explain the application of learning to write descriptive essays based on local wisdom using the field trip method for class V students at SDN 2 Pupus, Ngebel District, Ponorogo Regency, Academic Year 2024/2025. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques in this research are observation, interviews and documentation. The technique used to analyze data in this research is the interactive model from Miles and Huberman. The results of this research are the implementation of learning to write descriptive essays based on local wisdom using the field trip method for class V students at SDN 2 Pupus, Ngebel District, Ponorogo Regency, Academic Year 2024/2025, running as planned.

Abstract

Desa Antirogo merupakan salah satu desa yang terletak di Kecamatan Sumbersari, Kabupaten Jember, Jawa Timur. Desa ini berada di wilayah utara Kota Jember dan berbatasan dengan beberapa desa lain seperti Sumbersari, Karangrejo, dan Mangli. Tanaman padi (Oryza sativa L.) merupakan komoditas pertanian utama yang dibudidayakan oleh Kelompok Tani Sumber Rejeki. Namun, dalam proses budidayanya, petani menghadapi permasalahan serius berupa serangan hama keong mas yang populasinya tinggi dan mampu bertahan di berbagai musim, sehingga pengendaliannya menjadi sangat sulit. Keong mas (Pomacea canaliculata) merupakan salah satu hama utama pada budidaya padi yang dapat menyebabkan kerusakan signifikan, terutama pada fase awal pertumbuhan tanaman. Pengendalian kimia yang berlebihan berpotensi menimbulkan dampak negatif terhadap lingkungan dan kesehatan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan solusi alternatif berupa pemanfaatan ekstrak daun tembakau (Nicotiana tabacum) dan mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia) sebagai pengendalian nabati yang ramah lingkungan kepada Kelompok Tani Sumber Rejeki di Desa Antirogo, Kabupaten Jember. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi penyampaian materi, diskusi dan demonstrasi produk. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak kedua tanaman tersebut memiliki potensi sebagai molluskisida nabati, dengan respon positif dari para petani terhadap efektivitas dan kemudahan aplikasinya. Kegiatan ini diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kesadaran petani dalam menerapkan pengendalian hama yang berkelanjutan dan berbasis sumber daya lokal.

Abstract

The research was conducted with the aim of developing tutorial-based learning media using a scientific approach and its impact on learning activities and improving student learning outcomes on the topic of writing short stories. The method used in this research is the Research and Development method with a development design based on the Hannafin and Peck model. According to the research objectives, the data sources used in this study were obtained from the validation questionnaire of the media's feasibility, as well as observations of learning activities and student learning outcome tests. The subjects in this study were students of class XI at SMKN 3 Singkawang. The results indicated an increase in the average student learning outcomes from the initial test score of 61.75 to 82.95 in the final test. Based on observations of activities, the average frequency of student learning activities was 78.04, categorized as good, and based on testing using effect size, a value of 2.36 was obtained, categorized as large. It can be concluded that the tutorial-based learning media with a scientific approach has a significant impact on increasing student activity and learning outcomes.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are essential to face the various challenges that exist in today's world. Therefore, it is expected that Islamic religious education (PAI) teachers can organize learning processes that encourage students to conduct critical analysis, assessment, and reflection on Islamic principles. This study aims to examine the role of PAI teachers in the development of critical thinking skills among high school studentsstudents(SMA). This research used a qualitative approach with a case study method in one of the vocational schools. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with PAI teachers and students, observation of the learning process, and document analysis such as rubrics of students' critical thinking skills, lesson plans and teaching materials. The results showed that PAI teachers acted as facilitators, motivators, and mediators in developing students' critical thinking skills through discussion, case study, and problem-based learning methods. However, challenges such as time constraints, curriculum load, and low student interest in abstract topics are still an obstacle.Overall, this study revealed that the active role of PAI teachers in implementing innovative learning strategies can improve students' critical thinking skills, although school policy support and teacher professional development are needed to optimize the results. The results of this study provide recommendations to educators and decision makers to improve training for teachers and incorporate critical literacy elements into the PAI curriculum.

Abstract

This Developed countries are always accompanied by high-quality education. This study aims to determine the learning outcomes of students from the application of the cooperative learning model type Group Investigation (GI). This study was conducted in class X of SMA Semen Gresik of 28 students. The research method used in this study was a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design, utilizing IBM SPSS software version 27. The results of the independent sample t-test yielded a value of 0.039. This means that there is a significant difference between the learning outcomes of the experimental class using the GI model and the control class using the jigsaw model. Regarding the effectiveness of the GI model, it was proven to be effective in improving student learning outcomes. This was assessed based on the N gain percentage of the experimental class, which was 78,24%. Therefore, teachers can use this combination of learning models and media by considering student learning motivation, time, and adequate learning resources
