Abstract

The approach to Islamic education through martial arts organizations, such as PSNU Pagar Nusa, holds significant potential in shaping the character of the youth based on Islamic values. However, limited research has delved into how this martial arts organization internalizes Islamic educational values in Lampung Province. This study aims to identify and analyze the Islamic educational values internalized through PSNU Pagar Nusa in Lampung Province and their implications for the behavior and character of the students. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation from PSNU Pagar Nusa members and relevant community figures. The findings reveal that Islamic values such as i’tiqadiyyah (faith), khuluqiyyah (ethics), and amaliyyah (practice) are successfully instilled through various activities such as martial arts training, Quranic recitation, and congregational prayers. These values manifest in the daily attitudes and behaviors of the students, reflecting discipline, responsibility, tolerance, and compassion towards all creatures. The implications of internalizing these values include the formation of resilient, virtuous, and positively influential youth within the community. The study concludes that PSNU Pagar Nusa not only plays a role in preserving traditional martial arts but also effectively shapes the Islamic character of its members.

Abstract

Islam came to Pakistan in the seventh century, pioneering Islamic education systems in the region. Over the centuries, political, social, and economic developments influenced its evolution. This article explores Islamic education in Pakistan, focusing on course content, pedagogy, and infrastructure changes. The analysis begins with the earliest Islamic schools, particularly the madrasa system, which trained leaders and intellectuals in Islamic ethics, law, and theology. These institutions preserved and transmitted Islamic culture and knowledge across generations. Islamic education changed significantly during British colonial rule and industrialisation in the 19th and 20th centuries. Western principles were integrated into the madrasa curriculum, adding Mathematics, Science, and English, creating a shift from traditional methods. After independence, Pakistan expanded its Islamic education with universities and colleges. These institutions combined Islamic teachings with modern disciplines to provide a comprehensive curriculum. Today, Islamic education in Pakistan is vibrant and diverse, with institutions focusing on Islamic studies, Quranic studies, and Islamic law. While the government has implemented regulatory bodies to ensure quality, challenges like training instructors and incorporating technology persist. Collaborative efforts by religious scholars, educators, and policymakers are essential to modernising Islamic education and ensuring its relevance.

Abstract

The fundamental problem underlying this research is the low learning outcomes of students in the Arabic for Professional Purposes course. The purpose of this research is to identify improvements in students' learning outcomes. Based on pre-action data findings, it was observed that students' learning outcomes were low, which was caused by a lack of variation in the use of learning media. This study aims to analyze the story of Lukman al-Hakim in educating children which has been narrated in the Qur'an. This study uses the library research method to analyze sources from books, tafsir books, and journal articles about Lukman al-Hakim’s story. Using content analysis techniques, this study concluded that moral education contained in the story of Lukman al-Hakim, which includes monotheism, worship, and morals, is material that is very much needed in the digital era. In the era of information technology, the role of parents as role models in children's character education is very much needed. Parents can guide their children to face the negative influence of digital media with a stronger religious character, including spiritual and moral values, worship to God, and fellowship to human beings. So that social media, which is often consumed by young generation in excess, is not used as a living guide in daily life.

Abstract

The digital era has brought significant changes in the behavior patterns and character of the younger generation, marked by increasing cases of character degradation such as cyberbullying and decreasing empathy. This phenomenon demands a comprehensive approach in character development that is able to integrate cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects holistically. This research aims to develop a framework for the integration of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) in Islamic education that can be implemented to shape the holistic character of students in the digital era. Using literature study method with content analysis technique, this research analyzes various literatures related to SEL and Islamic character education within the last 10 years. The results show the alignment between the core components of SEL and the fundamental values of Islamic education, where self-awareness correlates with the concept of muhasabah, self-management is in line with mujahadah an-nafs, social awareness and relationship skills reflect the value of ukhuwah and husn al-mu'asyarah, and responsible decision making is in line with the concept of maslahah. The developed integration framework has shown positive results in the transformation of learners' character, which is reflected in increased spiritual awareness, emotional maturity, social skills, and self-development. Implementation data showed an average 18% increase in learning achievement and a significant decrease in behavioral problems compared to the control group, indicating the effectiveness of this integrated approach in developing learners' holistic character
