Abstract

Waste management is an environmental issue that is very close to the community, but the problem of waste in tourism areas needs to be carried out more independently. Garbage at tourist attractions consists of packaging and food waste. Plastic packaging is often found in food and drinks, which makes it difficult for nature to break down. The pyrolysis method introduced to the management of the bamboo forest tourist area in Bekasi City can be used to process plastic waste so that plastic waste can be reduced and the amount of plastic waste in the landfill can also be reduced. Pyrolysis education can be an option for onsite waste processing, with the result being oil similar to kerosene.

Abstract

Social forestry is a sustainable forest management system implemented in state forest areas or private forests. Local communities or customary law communities implement customary forests as the main actors in improving their welfare. The Social Forestry Program aims to enhance community welfare through empowerment patterns while still being guided by sustainability aspects. Communities around forests are given equal and broadest opportunities to apply for forest area management rights to the government. Communities can cultivate and benefit from forests in environmentally friendly ways. One way to utilize forest areas is to make them tourist attractions. Good management of tourist attractions requires skills in planning and implementation. Garut Regency is one area that has many sustainable forest locations that have been used as tourist locations and have the potential to increase people's income, but these tourist attractions still need to bestill need to be well promoted to the wider community. Therefore, training in creating tourism promotional content is required in order to strengthen the knowledge and skills capacity of social forestry groups in managing tourism potential in the Garut Regency. This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge and skills capacity of the Forest Farmers Group (KTH) in creating promotional content for tourist attractions. The result of this activity is that KTH members are able to create promotional content for tourist attractions using the Canva and CapCut applications so that they can increase the number of visitors to their tourist attractions.

Abstract

The increase in the elderly population raises concerns regarding the potential lack of understanding of chronic illnesses in this age group and their impact on quality of life. The main objective of this initiative is to provide education on a better understanding of the health issues faced by the elderly and how to manage them effectively. The study was conducted in November 2023 with 25 participants involved: 1) Preparing educational materials, 2) Providing education to elderly caregivers, and 3) Evaluating the impact of these activities through pre-and post-tests. As a result of the study, an increase in knowledge about various health problems and strategies to improve the quality of life of the elderly was observed after receiving education. As part of this activity, health status examinations were conducted, and the quality of life of elderly individuals was assessed using questionnaires. It was found that 52% of the participants reported suffering from hypertension, heart disease, or metabolic endocrine diseases. It is worth noting that the physical domain had the lowest quality-of-life score compared to other domains. In conclusion, it could be argued that community health education activities may play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life of the elderly by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage their health challenges

Abstract

Technology is the result of human thought, which develops certain procedures and uses them to solve problems in human life. Indonesian people tend to prefer online activities over offline ones. Technology presents many dangers and threats, such as theft of personal data. The negative impact of technology can also give teenagers game addiction, gambling done via the internet, and decreased interest in learning. On the other hand, technology also has positive impacts, such as making it easy to find the information you need and being able to access anything easily. So, it is necessary to carry out outreach for teenagers at YPK Immanuel Vocational School in Sorong City. Participants will be given socialization by providing materials and a question and answer session. The socialization participants were students of classes X and XI at SMK YPK Imanuel, Sorong City. The number of participants who took part in the socialization was around 75 students. This activity is very important to provide insight and views to participants who are wise in using technology and can understand the impact of the negative effects of developing technology.

Abstract

Selo Bonang is a tourist destination in Panduman Village, Jember Regency, which has iconic potential, namely a stone site that produces notes, known as the "Singing Valley." This site has the potential to become the world's first natural stone studio. This village faces several problems, namely the low competency of Human Resources (HR) in optimizing tourism potential, as well as the lack of a clear concept and identity in the development of Selo Bonang. Apart from that, there is an asymmetry of information regarding the history of the founding of Selo Bonang. The objectives of this community service are: 1) increasing human resource competency, 2) assisting in formulating development ideas and concepts, 3) strengthening tourist identity to overcome the asymmetry of historical information in Selo Bonang, and 4) establishing a chat spot that displays Jember's urban views. This tourist location is on the slopes of Mount Argopuro and close to the Duplang Site, which is part of the ancient heritage. This shows the integration of the potential of ancient heritage into the development of tourism based on the Purba Argopuro Geopark. The approach used is community-based tourism and spatial and infrastructure planning, with a focus on developing human resources in preparation for tourism planning and management as well as good tourism skills. Implementation methods include training, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), and assistance to Selo Bonang managers and the surrounding community. The results of the activities include: 1) increasing the competence of tourism managers and the community around Selo Bonang, 2) optimizing potential through a Selo Bonang development roadmap based on the Argopuro Purba Geopark, 3) tourism identity in the form of a profile book, 4) building a photo spot called Selo Bonang Urbanscape. It is hoped that these development ideas and concepts can contribute to the independence of managers and surrounding communities to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Abstract

Stunting is an obstacle to the nation's progress because if there are no strategic efforts to prevent and reduce the numbers. The role of the media today is vital because it is one of the elements incorporated in the Penta helix that accelerates the reduction. This service aims to use the press to reduce stunting rates through educational products. The method involves four steps: planning, socialization, mentoring training, and mentoring stages. The planning stage consists of preparation, observation, problem mapping, and preparation of a mentoring plan. The mentoring stage consists of two steps: making educational videos and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). The results of this study show that the media plays a strategic role in efforts to prevent the increase in stunting rates. This is done by actively involving the community in contributing to making educational videos that focus on the issue of stunting, especially in the Lampeji village area, Mumbulsari District, Jember Regency.

Abstract

Land acquisition for the construction of the Sorong SEZ will be carried out in 2023. In the development plan, the land area required for the Sorong SEZ development plan reaches 523.7 ha, which is the property of the Kami clan. The object of land acquisition for this development consists of community land in Arar village with mixed garden land conditions. This community service activity aims to increase awareness and participation of the Arar Village community in the land acquisition process for public interest development in the Sorong Special Economic Zone (KEK), Southwest Papua. Abstract

The use of firearms is a high-risk task for police officers. Therefore, they need to be mentally prepared to be able to carry out their duties properly and safely. One of the efforts to improve the mental readiness of Polri members is by conducting psychological tests. This report aims to present in-depth information about the psychological test procedures that have been implemented at the South Sumatra Police in the context of the mental readiness of firearm users. The method of collecting data through questionnaires, the results of community service, and the implementation of psychological test procedures to assess the cognitive readiness of firearm users at the South Sumatra Police requires a holistic and well-planned approach. The first step is to thoroughly understand the purpose of the psychological test, which includes identifying potential mental problems, assessing the ability to control emotions, and measuring an individual's psychological stability. Furthermore, the selection of tests should take into account the local, cultural, and task context of firearm users so that the results are relevant and can be interpreted appropriately. Test validity and reliability are also key in ensuring the accuracy of the results by testing and validating the tests regularly.
