Abstract

The Wali Nibhi Reading House Group, also known as the Yoboi Reading House, was established in November 2019 in Yoboi Village, Sentani, Papua, with a focus on literacy improvement and women's empowerment. The group is predominantly composed of women, making it well-suited to develop skills in producing snakehead fish chips. However, they still face challenges in terms of skills and facilities. The existing skills are not yet sufficient to process fish into value-added products. The community's high dependence on the fisheries sector makes the local economy vulnerable to fluctuations in catch and environmental impacts. Training on processing snakehead fish into low-calorie chips through baking could address these issues. The method used is community-based training. Training in the production of fish stick chips and atom crackers has provided the community with new knowledge and skills. This program is crucial for local economic empowerment, teaching processing techniques and entrepreneurial skills that can increase income and well-being. The training utilizes local natural resources and strengthens the community's self-reliance and competitiveness in a broader market.

Abstract

The red devil fish (Amphilophus spp.) is a carnivorous fish from Nicaragua that is considered a pest due to its predatory nature toward smaller fish. Although it does not have high economic value, this fish reproduces rapidly and threatens the endemic fish population in Lake Sentani, Papua. The endemic fish population has declined due to the increasing population of red devil fish that live in colonies in the littoral zone. Despite its high amino acid content, this fish is less favored due to the abundance of bones. One way to increase its consumption is by processing it into crackers. The method used involves training the community. The goal of this activity is to increase the consumption of red devil fish among the community. The results and achievements of this activity show that the women of Yoboi village successfully utilized the previously underutilized red devil fish by processing it into crackers. This has had a positive impact on maximizing local potential and creating new business opportunities, thereby improving economic welfare. This activity has also enhanced food processing skills within the community.

Abstract

The community service activity with the title "Knowing the Other Side of Mayang Tree for Human Life" is a form of concern for academics in the field of Biology for the spread of society and the development of home industry products that have an impact on improving the health and economy of the community. The transfer of information in the form of processing techniques, ways of utilisation, manufacturing procedures, and marketing techniques is carried out to educate the community in order to increase knowledge about the products and its biological processes. Scientifically, in the procedure of utilisation and processing of palm fruit (mayang), there are many science studies found in everyday life. In addition, indirectly, community students as recipients of information can apply it and become home industry producers. This is very helpful for the community in the utilisation of local wisdom in the area considering kolang kaling is a by-product of palm fruit (mayang) processing.

Abstract

Diversification is a variety of types of processed fishery products from raw materials that have not been/have been utilized. Diversification will provide variations in the food consumed so that you are not attracted to just one type. Fish-based food diversification is an effort to increase consumption of fishery products in terms of quality, quantity and increase in selling value. The aim of this PKM is to provide training on fish-based food diversification for groups of women residents of Hunuth Durian Patah Village, Teluk Ambon District. It is hoped that this activity will be a stimulus to increase people's creativity in processing fish to add value to products. The implementation method is carried out with lectures about diversification, objectives and benefits, nutritional content of fish, fish-based diversified products and the practice of making fish nuggets. The media used are questionnaires, power points, test sheets (pre and post test) and organoleptic assessment sheets. The post test results showed an increase in knowledge about making fish nuggets. Community Service Activities have a positive impact on promoting the diversity of processed forms of fish for programs to accelerate fish food consumption.

Abstract

Alang Asaode Village is one of the villages in West Seram Regency that has a large mangrove forest. Sonneratia caseolaris is one type of mangrove that has a fruit called pedada fruit. Pedada fruit has nutritional content that can be utilized into food products such as jam and syrup because of its high vitamin C content and can also be processed into antiseptic liquid soap. Community service activities in Alang Asaode village in the form of socialization of pedada fruit processing using the fermentation process into economically valuable products such as liquid soap to increase family income.

Abstract

Beaches have various shapes as a response from the land to various forces received, such as geological processes, openness to the open sea, frequency of anthropogenic activities both around the coastal area and on the upper land and the configuration and layout of the island. The aim of this community service is to introduce the types of beaches and their dynamics to students at Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) Negeri 22 Kairatu and to instill a caring attitude towards caring for and protecting the marine and coastal environment. The mechanism for the stage activities is the delivery of material by the PkM Implementation Team from the Department of Marine Science, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Pattimura University and discussion. The results of the activity show that students understand well the material provided including the definition of beaches, functions and benefits of beaches, types of beaches and their dynamics as well as beach protection measures. This can be seen from the response of students who participated actively and enthusiastically by asking various questions during the activity. Abstract

The waters of Hunuth Village are one of the mangrove habitats Inner Ambon Bay. Still, as the population increases, various activities occur such as boat moorings and ships, which impact the growth and reduction of mangroves. The Community Service activity aims to provide knowledge and enhance the role of students from Christian Elementary School 1 Hunuth in preserving the mangrove ecosystem. Literacy education was conducted using a variety of methods, including lectures, video screenings, games, student storytelling, and the distribution of x-banners about mangroves. From the evaluation results through pre-and post-tests, there was an increase in knowledge, and it is hoped that through this activity, students can be motivated to become "sustainable ambassadors" playing an important role in maintaining the sustainability of mangroves in coastal areas.

Abstract

Surimi can be processed into a variety of products through diversification of fishery-based processed goods, including meatballs and nuggets. Meatballs and nuggets are derivative products of surimi that are easy to prepare but can yield nutritious products and increase household income through surimi-based processing businesses. Leahari is a coastal village located on Ambon Island with potential in fishery products, particularly fish, but this potential has not been fully utilized, especially in efforts to improve household economic conditions. This community service activity is expected to be a solution for utilizing fish catches to produce nutritious and economically valuable products.
