Abstract

Arabic Language is the oldest foreign language (second language) known and studied by the Indonesian people. Arabic was known and studied in Indonesia long before other foreign languages such as English, German, and Mandarin. In the 1980s, Arabic was the favorite language for students in Indonesia. However, over time, the love and enthusiasm for learning Arabic in Indonesia has decreased. This phenomenon is called the "Phenomenon of Devotion to Learn Arabic". The phenomenon of Demotivation to Learn Arabic in Indonesia can be seen from a number of research results, including the results of a survey conducted in Malang and the results of research conducted in Palang Karaya, Kalimantan. There are a number of factors that influence demotivation to learn Arabic in Indonesia, namely teacher factors which include the low quality of Arabic teachers, environmental factors, and internal factors of students. And to be able to overcome these problems, it is necessary to improve the quality of Arabic teachers, both in terms of Arabic language skills and mastery of teaching methods, create a conducive and effective Arabic language environment and raise awareness of the importance of Arabic in the current digital era

Abstract

Learning Arabic vocabulary is a challenge for students, especially in creating a fun and effective atmosphere. This research discusses the application of singing strategies in learning Arabic vocabulary at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Sedati. The method used is descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques through interviews, observation and documentation. The research results show that the singing strategy is implemented through three main stages, namely planning, implementation and evaluation. In practice, the use of songs with lyrics adapted to the material helps students more easily memorize number vocabulary in Arabic. However, problems were found in the writing aspect, where most students still had difficulty writing down the vocabulary they had memorized. Supporting factors in this learning include the availability of textbooks, a conducive learning environment, and the role of competent teachers. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include lack of use of technology and minimal writing practice. The solution offered is to combine singing strategies with writing practice and increase the use of technology in learning. Thus, the singing strategy has proven to be effective in increasing students' understanding and interest in learning Arabic vocabulary, although it still needs to be combined with other methods for more optimal results. Keywords: Singing strategies, vocabulary learning, Arabic, active methods, Muhammadiyah Elementary School

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of differentiated instruction in Arabic language learning at SMK N 1 Penukal. Using a descriptive qualitative method, this research identifies students' learning styles visual, auditory, and kinesthetic as the basis for designing instructional strategies. Among 33 students, 12 have a visual learning style, 10 are auditory learners, and 11 are kinesthetic learners, allowing learning groups to be structured according to their respective needs. Lesson planning begins with a diagnostic assessment to determine students' learning profiles. Teaching modules are designed with varied strategies, such as infographics and concept maps for visual learners, group discussions and audio recordings for auditory learners, and simulations and role-playing for kinesthetic learners. The learning process incorporates differentiation in content, process, and product. Evaluation is conducted through creative projects, oral presentations, and portfolio-based assignments aligned with students' learning styles. The findings indicate that differentiated instruction enhances students' motivation and academic achievement. However, challenges such as limited facilities and time management in assessments still need to be addressed. School support, including the Guru Penggerak training program and In-House Training (IHT), plays a crucial role in successfully implementing this strategy. This study contributes to the development of a differentiated Arabic language learning model and can serve as a reference for other educational institutions in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum

Abstract

This research aims to determine the use of the Kitab Sisilah at-Ta’lim al-Lughoh al-Arabiyyah Annahwi Mustawa Tsani in Nahwu learning at Ma’had Umar Bin Khattab (MUBK) Muhammadiyah University of Sidoarjo. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection methods in the form of interviews, observations, and documentation. The research subjects include lecturers and second-year students. The research results show that learning is conducted through three main stages: (1) initial agreement, where the lecturer emphasizes the importance of attendance to ensure a thorough understanding of the material; (2) the learning process, which consists of the explanation of nahwu rules, tadribat exercises, and material reinforcement at the end of the session; and (3) evaluation, which is conducted through tadribat discussions, Midterm Exams (UTS), and Final Exams (UAS). The learning strategy implemented prioritizes time efficiency by focusing on rules and exercises, while reading the text is only done if there is extra time. Factors supporting the success of learning include the consistent attendance of students and lecturers, a conducive learning environment, and systematic and clear teaching methods. However, this success can be hindered by the absence of students or lecturers, which disrupts the continuity of learning

Abstract

Arabic textbooks play an important role in language learning, yet they often face challenges related to language authenticity and cultural relevance, especially in the context of learning in Indonesia. A key issue that often arises is the use of language that is stiff or does not reflect everyday conversation, as well as the lack of an introduction to the cultural context underlying the use of the language. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the importance of involving native speakers in the development of Arabic textbooks, as well as the impact of native speaker involvement on the authenticity of language, cultural relevance, and pedagogical effectiveness. The research method used in this study is a literature review, analyzing several Arabic textbooks that involve native speakers and those that do not, comparing the advantages and disadvantages of each. The results of the study show that textbooks involving native speakers offer more authentic language, stronger cultural relevance, and higher pedagogical effectiveness. These textbooks facilitate students' understanding of Arabic in a more in-depth and real cultural context. In contrast, textbooks that do not involve native speakers tend to be more structured and theoretical but lack the introduction of language used in everyday social life in the Arab world. The implications of this research highlight the importance of collaboration between native speakers, language experts, and educators in the development of Arabic textbooks. This collaboration aims to create instructional materials that not only teach grammar but also introduce the use of language in socially and culturally relevant contexts. The involvement of native speakers is crucial to improving the quality of Arabic language learning in Indonesia by introducing more authentic and contextual language

Abstract

Arabic is a Semitic language that has a complex and rich linguistic structure, both in terms of phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics. This complexity makes it unique compared to many other languages in the world, as well as challenging to learn as a foreign language. In the context of foreign language education, a deep understanding of the characteristics of the Arabic language is essential to design effective and adaptive learning strategies. This article aims to describe the main characteristics of the Arabic language and evaluate the extent to which these characteristics are relevant in the context of teaching a foreign language to non-Arabic speakers. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive approach through a literature study of various relevant scientific sources. The results of the analysis show that the Arabic phonological system, which includes unique letters such as ح، ع، ق, as well as a root-based and pattern-based morphological system (wazn), presents its own challenges in learning. However, the system also opens up pedagogical opportunities through a pattern-based and context-based approach. In addition, the flexible syntactic structure and rich semantic meaning of Arabic demand contextual and communicative teaching strategies. This article concludes that understanding the characteristics of Arabic is not only important for overcoming learning difficulties, but can also be used to strengthen the effectiveness of learning Arabic as a foreign language

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using YouTube Arab Podcast video media on the Arabic learning outcomes of tenth-grade students at MA Laboratorium UINSU Medan. The background of this research stems from the low interest and achievement in learning Arabic, which is caused by monotonous conventional teaching methods. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using cluster sampling, involving a control class and an experimental class. Data were collected through pretests and posttests and analyzed using an independent t-test. The results showed a significant improvement in the learning outcomes of students who used Arab Podcast video media compared to those who learned without video media, with a significance value of 0.039 < 0.05. This indicates that the use of YouTube-based video media is effective in improving students’ understanding of vocabulary, sentence structure, and Arabic pronunciation. Thus, interactive digital media such as Arab Podcast can serve as an alternative learning strategy relevant to the needs of students in the digital era.
