Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Multiple Intelligences-based group guidance services in developing emotional awareness and interpersonal communication in early childhood. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. A total of 12 children aged 5-6 years and 2 PAUD teachers in Banda Aceh were the subjects in this study. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model. The results of the study indicate that the integration of interpersonal intelligence in group guidance activities helps children recognize and express emotions verbally and there is an increase in interpersonal communication skills in the form of active listening, empathy, and cooperation with peers. This study provides conceptual and practical contributions to the development of group guidance services based on developmental psychology theory in the context of early childhood education.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve the storytelling ability of children aged 4–5 years through the implementation of the interactive storytelling method at TK Al Maulana, Central Jakarta. Storytelling ability is an important aspect of early childhood language development, as it supports children’s confidence in speaking, vocabulary mastery, fluency, and ability to organize stories coherently. This study employed a classroom action research design conducted in two cycles involving 15 children in Class A. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and field notes, and were analyzed descriptively based on the percentage of children achieving the expected level of development. The findings showed a gradual improvement in children’s storytelling ability across the research stages. In the pre-cycle, only 33% of children achieved the expected development level. After the implementation of storytelling activities using picture storybooks in Cycle I, the percentage increased to 40%. A more significant improvement was found in Cycle II, in which the use of hand puppets increased the percentage to 86%. These findings indicate that the interactive storytelling method was effective in improving children’s storytelling ability. Therefore, this method can be considered an appropriate and engaging learning strategy to support oral language development in early childhood education.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of stimulating language skills in early childhood through the integration of lokal culture at the Pembina Denpasar Public Kindergarten.  Involving 30 students from Group B, the study utilized Lev Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory as the theoretical framework to analyze teachers’ strategies, the impact of implementation, and the obstacles encountered. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using data reduction and presentation techniques. The study’s findings indicate that various activities—such as masatua (storytelling) featuring master storyteller Gede Tarmada, singing the Gending Sekar Rare, using the Balinese language every Thursday, and playing traditional games—have proven to have a positive impact. In addition to significantly improving linguistic skills, these activities also fostered enthusiasm and a deep understanding among the children regarding Bali’s cultural heritage. Although there were constraints such as time limitations and less-than-ideal classroom conditions, the teachers proactively addressed them through intensive coordination with the school principal. Overall, this approach rooted in lokal wisdom proved effective as a contextual and educational medium for language stimulation among the children.
